Which trades Ontario licenses, and which it does not

Ontario licenses some trades at province level and leaves others to municipalities or to no formal register at all. That changes how much weight a licence claim carries, and how hard you should verify it yourself.

We record what we could verify per business and label the rest as reported. Always confirm current status with the issuing agency before signing.

How we verify licences

Where a trade is licensed we check the number against the issuing agency and record the date. Where no register exists we say so rather than implying a licence.
