Licensing in the United States is set state by state, and in some trades city by city. So the research starts with the state board: who holds an active licence for this work, what class it is, and whether it covers the job a homeowner is actually hiring for.
From there we compare service range, years working in the metro, how the company quotes, and what customers say in public. Ten names go up with the criteria and the date.
