Electrical work in central Ohio tends to arrive in two moods. There is the planned kind, where a homeowner has decided the basement needs proper circuits or the driveway needs a charger, and the unplanned kind, where half the house goes dark at nine on a Sunday. Care Electric LLC presents itself as a contractor that handles both, with residential and commercial divisions and a published emergency line, and its Google hours are listed as open 24 hours every day of the week.

The stated history goes back to 1982, which puts the company past four decades in the Columbus market. Its site lists an Ohio licence number, 15285, and describes the business as licensed, bonded, insured and covered by Ohio's Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Those are the company's own claims rather than anything independently checked here, but they are the specific details a homeowner should be asking for anyway, and it is worth noting that Ohio licenses electrical contractors at state level while permits and inspections are handled locally by the City of Columbus or the relevant township.

On the residential side, the advertised range covers outlet installation, lighting both indoors and out, accent lighting, circuit breaker work, wiring for home additions and general repair of existing systems. Commercial work is described in similar terms with the addition of larger systems wiring and EV charging station installation. Two specialisms stand out. The company says it is now a Tesla-certified installer for the Tesla Wall Connector and the Powerwall, and it sells and fits Generac standby generators across Ohio. Both of those matter in this market. Columbus gets summer derecho-style wind events and winter ice, and whole-home generators have become a common ask in suburbs like Dublin, Worthington and Powell where outages can run long.

Housing stock shapes the rest of the conversation. Clintonville, Grandview and the older German Village and Olde Towne East streets are full of homes wired long before anyone imagined an induction range, a heat pump and a car charger sharing a service. That usually means a load calculation before a charger goes in, and often a service upgrade to 200 amps first, with a new panel, meter socket work and coordination with AEP Ohio for the disconnect and reconnect. Newer builds out toward New Albany, Hilliard and Lewis Center have the capacity but frequently need added circuits, low-voltage work and outdoor lighting instead. A reader should ask up front whether the quoted price includes the permit and inspection, because a panel swap or a new charger circuit is inspected work, not something to be done quietly on a Saturday.

The review record is the strongest public evidence available. The Google Business Profile showed 4.9 from 138 reviews when read on September 28, 2026, which is a solid volume for an electrical contractor and a high average. The company also links to Yelp and Facebook pages and to a Better Business Bureau listing filed under Dublin, which suggests the firm has operated from or served that side of the metro for some time. Its own site claims more than 2,000 projects completed, a figure worth treating as a round marketing number rather than an audited count.

Who does Care Electric LLC suit. Homeowners who want an established contractor for a defined project, generator and EV charger buyers in particular, and small to mid-size commercial clients who would rather keep one electrician on call for both fit-out and faults. Who it may suit less well: anyone shopping purely on price for a single outlet or fixture, since a long-established firm with a 24-hour line usually carries overheads that show up in the hourly rate, and anyone needing specialist industrial or high-voltage work, which the published service list does not mention.

Before booking, get the scope in writing, confirm whether the visit is quoted flat or hourly, and ask specifically what an after-hours call-out costs, because emergency pricing is where surprises tend to live. For generator or Powerwall work, ask about the manufacturer warranty, who registers it, and what the annual servicing looks like. The site invites photos with an enquiry to sharpen the estimate, which is a sensible way to avoid a wasted assessment visit.
