Best HVAC Companies in Vancouver, BC

The best HVAC companies in Vancouver are Western Pacific HVAC, Milani Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Reid Brothers Plumbing and Heating, Pioneer Plumbing & Heating, Wah Fai Plumbing & Heating and Proflow Plumbing Heating Gas. Western Pacific is the heat pump specialist of the group, Milani and Pioneer bring the largest review bases and 24/7 service, and Reid Brothers, Wah Fai and Proflow are strong on boilers, furnaces and radiant heat. Only six companies inside Vancouver city limits met our bar this time, so this list has six entries rather than ten.

Our top 6 hvac companies in Vancouver

Heating a Vancouver home is a different job from heating one in most of Canada. Winters are mild and wet, air conditioning was rare until recent summer heat waves, and a large share of older houses on the east and west sides still run on hot-water boilers, radiators or radiant floors rather than forced air. That is why most of the companies on this list are plumbing and heating firms: in this city, the people who fix boilers and gas lines are often the same people who fix plumbing. That is changing as more homeowners switch to heat pumps, which heat in winter and cool in summer. The City of Vancouver and the province have been steering homes toward heat pumps, and CleanBC and BC Hydro rebates can cut the cost. Programs and amounts change, so ask any installer which rebate you qualify for before you sign, and whether the company is registered with the Heat Pump Contractor Network if a rebate depends on it. In British Columbia, gas work is regulated by Technical Safety BC. Any company working on a gas furnace, boiler or gas line needs a gas contractor licence, and you can ask for the number and check it with Technical Safety BC. Only one company on this list prints its licence numbers online, so ask the others before work starts. Heat pump and air conditioning work also involves refrigerant, so ask who on the crew holds the refrigeration certification.

How we chose the best hvac companies in Vancouver

Read our full ranking methodology →

This list follows Google's order. We searched Google Maps for HVAC, heat pump, furnace, heating and boiler contractors in Vancouver, BC on September 24, 2026, and kept companies in the order Google returned them, starting with the main HVAC contractor search. We removed any that did not meet our basic bar: at least 4.5 stars, at least 50 reviews, currently operating, a working website, and an address inside the City of Vancouver. We left out companies based in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond, companies whose Vancouver listing was a residential unit or one of several service-area addresses, two whose websites were down, one that listed only a free email address, and one whose reviews did not look reliable. Only six companies passed. We then read each company's reviews and website to write the profiles. No company paid to be included or to change its position.

How to choose a hvac company in Vancouver

  • Verify insurance and credentials

Ask for a current certificate of insurance and confirm registration or licensing with the authority that issues it, not with the company.

  • Ask for a written estimate

Scope, materials, removal, disposal and who pulls the permit should all be named on the page rather than agreed on the doorstep.

  • Compare multiple quotes

Two or three bids on the same scope. A number far below the others usually means something has been left out of it.

  • Understand the warranty

Separate the manufacturer's warranty on materials from the company's own warranty on the work, and get both in writing.

  • Ask who performs the work

Find out whether the crew are employees or subcontractors, and who supervises them on the day.

  • Check recent local projects

Ask for addresses or photographs of comparable jobs finished nearby in the last year or two.

  • Avoid high-pressure sales

A discount that expires today, or a knock on the door after a storm, is a reason to slow down rather than sign.

  • Get everything in writing

Change orders, timeline and payment schedule included, before the first payment changes hands.

Questions to ask before hiring

  • Are you insured, and can you send the certificate?
  • How long have you worked in this area?
  • Will you provide a written estimate with materials listed?
  • What warranty do you offer on the work itself?
  • Do you use subcontractors for this job?
  • Who handles permits and inspection?
  • What would you recommend here, and why?
  • How are unexpected costs handled once work starts?
  • What is the estimated timeline from start to finish?
  • Can you provide recent local references?

Red flags

  • No verifiable local business address or registration
  • Pressure to sign on the first visit
  • A demand for full payment up front
  • An offer to cover or waive your insurance deductible
  • Refusal to put warranty terms in writing
  • A quote that will not itemize scope

HVAC companies in Vancouver FAQs

  • How much does a heat pump cost in Vancouver?

It depends on the house, the type of system and how much electrical work is needed, and none of the companies on this list publish fixed prices. Get at least two written quotes that list the equipment model numbers, and ask each company which CleanBC or BC Hydro rebates apply to your home.

  • How do I check if a Vancouver heating contractor is licensed?

Ask for the company's Technical Safety BC gas contractor licence number and check it with Technical Safety BC before any gas furnace, boiler or gas line work. Pioneer Plumbing & Heating publishes its numbers online. For the other companies on this list, ask when you book.

  • Which Vancouver heating companies offer 24/7 service?

Milani, Reid Brothers, Pioneer, Wah Fai and Proflow all offer round-the-clock or emergency service. Western Pacific HVAC does not advertise 24/7 service and keeps weekday office hours.
