  1. Brown's Plumbing & Heating

homeowners wanting one contractor for both plumbing and heating replacements4.9(869 Google reviews)559 St Mary's Rd, Winnipeg, MB R2M 3L6, CanadaBest for homeowners wanting one contractor for both plumbing and heating replacements Rank01

    Why we picked them

A 4.9 average across 869 Google reviews, read in late September 2026, is the kind of record that comes from doing ordinary jobs properly for a long time, and five decades in Manitoba backs that up. The in-house sheet metal shop and the combined plumbing and HVAC scope make this a sensible first call for replacement work in older Winnipeg housing. The two different phone numbers and the mismatch between website and Google hours are worth clearing up on the first call.

    What we like

    • 4.9 from 869 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 26, 2026
    • Trading in Manitoba since 1974, per its own website
    • Plumbing and HVAC under one roof, including gas fitting and water treatment
    • Custom ductwork fabricated in its own sheet metal shop
    • Branches in Winnipeg, Steinbach and Morris covering the southeast
    • Offers backwater valve, sump pump and radon mitigation work relevant to local basements

    Things to consider

    • Google hours show Wednesday and Sunday closed, which conflicts with the website's Monday to Friday schedule
    • No 24-hour emergency line is advertised, so confirm after-hours call-out terms
    • Two different phone numbers appear across the Google listing and the website
    • Full-service pricing is generally above that of a single-van independent for small jobs

  2. Shorty's Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning

homeowners who want plumbing, furnace and sump pump work handled by one Winnipeg contractor4.8(613 Google reviews)3390 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3S 1A8, CanadaBest for homeowners who want plumbing, furnace and sump pump work handled by one Winnipeg contractor Rank02

    Why we picked them

The plumbing plus HVAC plus radon combination is genuinely useful in Winnipeg, where the same basement generates all three problems, and a 4.8 average across 613 Google reviews is a solid track record for a business that has been trading over forty years. Flat-rate pricing and a named guarantee are reader-friendly, but the specific terms are not published, so ask. Worth a call for anything involving a furnace, a water heater or a sump pit.

    What we like

    • 4.8 average from 613 Google reviews as of September 27, 2026, a large sample
    • Plumbing and HVAC under one roof, including boilers and heat pumps
    • Radon testing and mitigation listed as a service, which few plumbers offer
    • Published hours show 24 hours a day, seven days, for burst pipes and no-heat calls
    • Trading in Winnipeg since 1983 as a family business, per its own site
    • Reviewers name individual technicians repeatedly, suggesting a settled crew

    Things to consider

    • Guarantee and membership plan terms are not spelled out in the brief, so ask what is covered and for how long
    • Drain cleaning, camera inspection and excavation are not named services, so confirm scope for blocked or collapsed sewer lines
    • An established firm with stock and overnight coverage is rarely the cheapest quote on a simple swap
    • Trade credentials are claims made on its own website and worth verifying for gas work

    Services

  3. The Pleasant Plumber Inc.

24/7 emergency plumbing plus water heater, furnace and boiler work in Winnipeg homes4.9(1685 Google reviews)1041 Erin St Unit A, Winnipeg, MB R3G 2X1, CanadaBest for 24/7 emergency plumbing plus water heater, furnace and boiler work in Winnipeg homes Rank03

    Why we picked them

The review base here is the standout detail, and 4.9 across 1,685 Google reviews is hard to accumulate without consistent day-to-day work. The plumbing-plus-heating range and genuine overnight coverage make it a sensible first call for a Winnipeg homeowner in trouble, though the no-overtime-fee and financing claims are the company's own and worth confirming on the phone. For planned big-ticket work, compare quotes rather than defaulting to whoever answers fastest.

    What we like

    • 4.9 rating from 1,685 Google reviews as read on September 26, 2026, an unusually deep review base for the city
    • Plumbing and heating under one roof, including boilers, furnaces and air conditioning
    • Hours published as open 24 hours, seven days a week, with a stated no-overtime-fee policy
    • Trenchless pipe lining offered as an alternative to full sewer excavation
    • Financing advertised for unplanned tank or furnace replacements
    • Fixed shop address on Erin Street in the West End rather than a mailbox listing

    Things to consider

    • The no-overtime-fee claim, financing terms and warranty lengths come from the company's own site and should be confirmed before booking
    • Pricing structure and call-out fees are not published, so ask how the job will be billed
    • With a larger crew you may not get the same technician on repeat visits
    • Published material points to residential service work rather than large commercial mechanical contracts

  4. Next - Gen Plumbing and Heating

Winnipeg homeowners and property managers who want one company for drains, hot water and heating4.8(232 Google reviews)268 Albany St, Winnipeg, MB R3J 2A8, CanadaBest for Winnipeg homeowners and property managers who want one company for drains, hot water and heating Rank04

    Why we picked them

The dual plumbing and heating scope is genuinely useful in a city with this climate, and 232 Google reviews at 4.8 is a meaningful sample rather than a handful of friendly comments. We would treat the 24 hour listing as availability for emergencies rather than normal booking hours, since the company itself flags an 8am to 4pm office window and possible after-hours premiums. Ask for the emergency rate before you agree to a night call.

    What we like

    • 4.8 from 232 reviews on the Google Business Profile, read September 27, 2026
    • Covers both plumbing and heating, including furnaces, boilers and in-floor systems
    • States all staff are Red Seal certified or registered Manitoba apprentices
    • Backflow preventer certification and food service kitchen work for commercial clients
    • 24 hour emergency availability advertised, with upfront pricing as the stated approach

    Things to consider

    • Office hours are 8am to 4pm weekdays, and after-hours emergency rates may apply
    • No pricing published, so quotes need to be requested job by job
    • Specialist areas such as well or septic systems are not listed among services

  5. Phoenix Plumbing

residential leak repair, hot water tanks and sump pump work in Winnipeg homes5.0(114 Google reviews)Best for residential leak repair, hot water tanks and sump pump work in Winnipeg homes Rank05

    Why we picked them

A perfect 5 from 114 reviews is rare enough in plumbing to be worth pausing over, and the fact that reviewers name the owner suggests the work has stayed personal rather than being handed to a rotating crew. The service list is honest about its limits, leaning residential and indoor rather than claiming everything. We would confirm after-hours rates and who handles buried main lines before booking, but for fixture work, hot water tanks and sump pumps this is a sound first call.

    What we like

    • 5 out of 5 from 114 Google reviews, read on September 27, 2026
    • Trading in Winnipeg since 2002 under its founder, per its own website
    • Names sump pumps and basement plumbing specifically, both relevant to Winnipeg spring melt
    • Takes mobile home plumbing, which many companies decline
    • Free estimates and a written breakdown before work starts, as advertised by the company

    Things to consider

    • The satisfaction guarantee, same-day service and pricing claims are the company's own and are not independently verified
    • Small owner-led operation, so availability during a busy cold snap may be tighter than at a multi-truck firm
    • No sewer camera inspection, trenchless main replacement or boiler work listed on the published service pages

  6. City Wide Water Heater Service

same-day hot water tank replacement in Winnipeg, including evenings and weekends4.8(454 Google reviews)340 Keewatin St, Winnipeg, MB R2X 2R9, CanadaBest for same-day hot water tank replacement in Winnipeg, including evenings and weekends Rank06

    Why we picked them

A specialist that stays in its lane, which is exactly what you want when a tank lets go on a holiday weekend. The no-surcharge, seven-day positioning is the practical draw, and a 4.8 average across 454 Google reviews suggests the execution has held up over a long period. Read the rental terms carefully before choosing that route over an outright purchase.

    What we like

    • 4.8 rating from 454 Google reviews, read September 27, 2026
    • Published hours of 6 AM to 11 PM, seven days a week
    • Company states no extra charge for evenings, weekends or holidays
    • Specialises only in water heaters, so stock and experience are concentrated
    • Covers gas, electric, hybrid electric, tankless and commercial units
    • Rental program available as an alternative to buying a tank

    Things to consider

    • Water heaters only, so no drains, fixtures or repipe work
    • Rental agreements typically cost more over a tank's full life than buying outright
    • Technician hours start at 8 AM, later than the 6 AM phone coverage
    • Trading-since-1983 history comes from the company's own website

  7. Argo Plumbing Ltd.

same-day drain and sewer cleaning in Winnipeg homes4.9(180 Google reviews)10 Blossom Bay, Winnipeg, MB R3R 2V9, CanadaBest for same-day drain and sewer cleaning in Winnipeg homes Rank07

    Why we picked them

A 4.9 average across 180 Google reviews, read in late September 2026, is the kind of record that takes years of one-city work to build, and the published price list is a welcome bit of transparency in a trade where it is rare. The drain and sewer emphasis matches what Winnipeg's older clay laterals actually throw at people. Confirm the after-hours rate and the scope on anything larger than a service call, and you should know what you are getting.

    What we like

    • 4.9 rating from 180 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 27, 2026
    • Trading in Winnipeg since 2010, per its own website, with the owner named publicly
    • Published service price list and a stated no-surprises pricing policy
    • Hours listed as 24 hours, seven days a week, for overnight and weekend failures
    • Same-day sewer and drain cleaning plus rooter service as a core offering
    • Online booking as well as a phone line

    Things to consider

    • Stated service area is Winnipeg only, so surrounding municipalities should confirm first
    • Licensing, insurance and the BBB A+ rating are the company's own claims; ask to see documents
    • A small crew can mean tight scheduling during busy spells
    • Large projects such as full repipes or new-build rough-in are not emphasised on the website

  8. Aslan Plumbing & Home Services

recurring drain and sewer problems in older Winnipeg homes, with same-day and after-hours availability4.8(88 Google reviews)Best for recurring drain and sewer problems in older Winnipeg homes, with same-day and after-hours availability Rank08

    Why we picked them

The drain focus, backed by camera inspection and hydro jetting, is the part of this offering we would lean on, especially in Winnipeg's older sewer neighbourhoods. A 4.8 average from 88 Google reviews is a genuinely decent record, and the published guiding principles about quoting before work starts are the kind of thing worth holding them to. Our only caution is the breadth: renovation, HVAC and appliance repair alongside plumbing is a lot of ground, so pin down who is doing which part.

    What we like

    • 4.8 rating from 88 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 27, 2026
    • Drain work backed by video camera inspection and recording plus hydro jetting
    • States 24/7 availability with after-hours and weekend calls, and free estimates
    • Plumbing, heating and cooling under one contractor, useful for bathroom and basement projects
    • Says it stocks around 90 percent of common replacement parts to finish repairs in one visit
    • Senior discounts listed as available

    Things to consider

    • Service range is very wide for a mid-sized firm, so confirm who handles renovation and HVAC portions
    • Claims about parts stock, warranty terms and licensing come from the company's own site and are worth verifying
    • No published pricing, so ask for the after-hours call-out rate and hourly figure up front
    • The profile does not detail excavation capability for full sewer or water service replacement

    Services

    • Drain cleaning
    • Sewer line repair

    Best for
recurring drain and sewer problems in older Winnipeg homes, with same-day and after-hours availability

  9. ILV Plumbing Services

recurring basement drain and sewer backups in older Winnipeg homes5.0(120 Google reviews)880 Scotland Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3M 1X8, CanadaBest for recurring basement drain and sewer backups in older Winnipeg homes Rank09

    Why we picked them

A spotless 5 from 120 Google reviews puts this firm in strong company, and the drain and sewer focus fits Winnipeg's aging clay laterals and flood-prone basements well. The gap between the published hours and the site's talk of round-the-clock availability is the one thing we would pin down in the first phone call.

    What we like

    • 5 rating from 120 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 27, 2026
    • Deep drain and sewer focus, including camera inspection before repair
    • Water heater installation and sump pump work suited to Manitoba winters and spring melt
    • Free, no-obligation estimates for labour and materials, per the company's own site
    • Annual maintenance plans for landlords and small commercial buildings
    • Wide range of payment methods accepted, including all major cards

    Things to consider

    • Published hours show Sunday closed, so weekend coverage is limited to Saturday daytime
    • The site suggests availability any time, which the listed weekday cut-off of 8 PM does not match
    • Licensed, insured and bonded status is the company's own claim and worth confirming directly
    • A small shop may have less capacity than a franchise during storm or freeze surges

  10. We Love Plumbing Ltd.

construction plumbing rough-in and renovation work for Winnipeg builders and contractors4.9(164 Google reviews)854 Marion St #6, Winnipeg, MB R2J 0K4, CanadaBest for construction plumbing rough-in and renovation work for Winnipeg builders and contractors Rank10

    Why we picked them

The clearest thing about this company is what it has decided not to be. No emergency line, no weekend hours, appointment only, with the service pages aimed at builders and project teams rather than at a homeowner searching at midnight. That narrowness is a useful signal, and a 4.9 from 164 Google reviews suggests the people who do hire it for planned work come away satisfied.

    What we like

    • 4.9 rating from 164 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 27, 2026
    • Specialises in new builds, renovations and building conversions rather than one-off repairs
    • Lists gas piping and hydronic heating systems alongside general plumbing
    • Names backflow prevention testing, confined space and WHMIS certification, plus first aid training for staff
    • Set up to work alongside general contractors and project teams on site
    • Mentions assistance with Manitoba Hydro financing programs

    Things to consider

    • No 24/7 emergency service, and the site states work is by appointment only
    • Weekday hours only, 8:00am to 4:30pm, closed Saturday and Sunday
    • The website address (3-850 Marion St) differs from the Google listing (854 Marion St #6), worth confirming
    • Construction focus means homeowners wanting a quick fixture repair may be better served elsewhere

How we chose the best plumbing companies in Winnipeg

Read our full ranking methodology →

This list was assembled from Google Maps results for the trade and city, then each company was written up from its own public profile. Positions follow Google's order and are not an editorial judgement until an editor reviews them.

How to choose a plumber in Winnipeg

  • Verify insurance and credentials

Ask for a current certificate of insurance and confirm registration or licensing with the authority that issues it, not with the company.

  • Ask for a written estimate

Scope, materials, removal, disposal and who pulls the permit should all be named on the page rather than agreed on the doorstep.

  • Compare multiple quotes

Two or three bids on the same scope. A number far below the others usually means something has been left out of it.

  • Understand the warranty

Separate the manufacturer's warranty on materials from the company's own warranty on the work, and get both in writing.

  • Ask who performs the work

Find out whether the crew are employees or subcontractors, and who supervises them on the day.

  • Check recent local projects

Ask for addresses or photographs of comparable jobs finished nearby in the last year or two.

  • Avoid high-pressure sales

A discount that expires today, or a knock on the door after a storm, is a reason to slow down rather than sign.

  • Get everything in writing

Change orders, timeline and payment schedule included, before the first payment changes hands.

Questions to ask before hiring

  • Are you insured, and can you send the certificate?
  • How long have you worked in this area?
  • Will you provide a written estimate with materials listed?
  • What warranty do you offer on the work itself?
  • Do you use subcontractors for this job?
  • Who handles permits and inspection?
  • What would you recommend here, and why?
  • How are unexpected costs handled once work starts?
  • What is the estimated timeline from start to finish?
  • Can you provide recent local references?

Red flags

  • No verifiable local business address or registration
  • Pressure to sign on the first visit
  • A demand for full payment up front
  • An offer to cover or waive your insurance deductible
  • Refusal to put warranty terms in writing
  • A quote that will not itemize scope
