Editorial Standards

Dodds Garage Doors has been a family-owned Ontario garage door company since John Dodds founded it in 1958, and its Clarkson branch at 1375 Southdown Road covers all of Mississauga. Google shows 4.9 stars from 647 reviews, read 2026-10-25, with the listing open 24 hours a day. The company handles torsion springs, cables, rollers, track realignment, openers from LiftMaster and Chamberlain, and new insulated door installation, plus commercial doors and loading dock equipment. Its site says technicians are salaried rather than paid on commission, so a repair visit is not meant to turn into a sales pitch. Port Credit, Lorne Park, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and Malton are all named service areas. Financing runs through FinanceIt, and an annual maintenance membership is offered.

I had an excellent experience with Chris from Dot’s Company! He came to fix my garage door and did an outstanding job. Chris was very patient and took the time to explain the problem clearly. He had called me twice, but unfortunately, I was sleeping and missed his calls. When he met me, he greeted me with a big smile and such kind words that made me feel comfortable, even though I was the one who had missed his calls! His kindness, patience, and positive attitude truly impressed me. He fixed the garage door perfectly, and even after finishing the job, when I asked him to look at another issue, he was more than willing to help and handled it with great care and diligence. The price was reasonable, the service was excellent, and his professionalism and customer service were exceptional. I highly recommend Chris and Dot’s Company to anyone looking for reliable, honest, and professional service. It is a pleasure to meet someone who takes pride in his work and treats customers with such kindness and respect. Thank you, Chris, for a job well done!

There’s a very simple reason that this company Dodds has been around since 1958! They’re just that good folks JUST THAT GOOD! They take the bull by the horns and handle everything so the customer doesn’t have to! Professional, personable, kind and considerate! What every company should be! Workmanship is second to none, workers are great and experts at what they do! If I had one thing to point out is that scheduling can extend past what was expected initially! But that’s due to just how good they are everyone wants them so they get overbooked at times!! No big deal in the big picture folks! Patience is a virtue right and it wasn’t too bad!!! I highly and I mean HIGHLY recommend hiring this company for your requirements sincerely!!! ✌🏼❤️🇨🇦

Company Background

About Dodds Garage Doors

Dodds Garage Doors was founded by John Dodds in 1958 and is still family owned, and its Mississauga branch sits at 1375 Southdown Road in Clarkson. Google shows 4.9 stars from 647 reviews, read 2026-10-25, which is a large sample for a single branch. The company says it has served more than 800,000 Ontario customers and has won the Consumers Choice Award for best garage door company for over 25 years.

On the repair side, the Mississauga page lists torsion spring replacement, cable and roller repair, track realignment and opener work on major brands including LiftMaster and Chamberlain, with battery backup options. New installations focus on insulated polyurethane doors, carriage-house and modern styles, and Wi-Fi openers. Commercial work covers overhead and rolling steel doors, dock levelers and operators. Service areas named on the site include Port Credit, Lorne Park, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and Malton, and Google lists the business as open 24 hours. The company says emergency technicians are on call day and night and that trucks are stocked with springs and cables for first-visit fixes.

Reviews give a clear picture of the style. Paulo is credited with replacing two springs for $550 and first showing the homeowner how to release the door so the car could come out. Chris gets repeated praise for diagnosing opener and cable problems quickly and explaining them, and Ryan for a careful door installation. The site says technicians are paid salary rather than commission, which fits the no-upsell comments in reviews. The fair criticism is a one-star review from July about a commercial rolling steel door operator that the reviewer says was mounted poorly, so ask who handles commercial work before you book it.

Dodds suits homeowners who want an established company, showroom support, financing through FinanceIt and a maintenance plan that costs $179 a year. It suits less well anyone who wants a one-person local shop, since this is a large operation with more than 60 vehicles across Ontario. Before booking, ask for a written quote, the spring cycle rating on any replacement springs, and the warranty terms in writing. Ontario has no provincial garage door licence, so ask for proof of liability insurance, a WSIB clearance certificate and a written quote.

Dodds Garage Doors FAQs

  • Does Dodds Garage Doors in Mississauga have a licence or insurance?

Dodds says its technicians are fully licensed and insured, but the site publishes no certificate numbers. Ontario has no provincial garage door licence, so ask for proof of liability insurance, a WSIB clearance certificate and a written quote before any work starts. Dodds Garage Doors has been in business since 1958, and several reviewers describe no-upsell service calls.

  • Is Dodds Garage Doors open 24 hours for emergency repairs in Mississauga?

Google lists Dodds Garage Doors as open 24 hours, seven days a week, and the company says emergency technicians are on call around the clock. Its Mississauga branch is at 1375 Southdown Road in Clarkson. The site says trucks carry springs and cables so many repairs finish on the first visit, though arrival times are not guaranteed.

  • Does Dodds Garage Doors offer financing and which areas of Mississauga does it serve?

Yes. Financing runs through FinanceIt, with online pre-qualification that the site says does not affect your credit score, and it can cover doors, openers and installation. Dodds says it serves all of Mississauga, including Port Credit, Lorne Park, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Meadowvale and Malton. Ask for warranty terms in writing, since the site does not publish them.

  • Is Dodds Garage Doors licensed and insured?

We checked 0 of 2 credentials against the issuing authority. Verified items carry the date we checked; reported items are what the business told us and we could not independently confirm.

  • What areas does Dodds Garage Doors serve?

Mississauga. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does Dodds Garage Doors offer emergency service?

Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.

  • What warranty do they offer?

Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
