Editorial Review
Our Take on Dodds Garage Doors
A long trading history and a 4.9 rating across 640 Google reviews put this among the more solidly documented garage door outfits in the west end, and the commercial catalogue shows it is not simply a spring-swapping operation. Expect established-company pricing rather than the cheapest quote in your inbox. The 24 hour listing is the one thing we would pin down on the phone before assuming a technician arrives overnight.

- Established suppliers with showrooms usually price above a solo operator on simple repairs

About Dodds Garage Doors
Garage door companies tend to lean one way or the other, toward emergency repair or toward selling and fitting new doors. Dodds Garage Doors does both, and the product range on its site suggests the sales side is substantial: three residential door series, belt drive, chain drive and side mount openers, aluminum capping, financing, and a visualizer tool for picking a design against a photo of your house. On the commercial side the catalogue widens considerably, taking in overhead and sectional steel doors, glass aluminum, rolling steel, rolling steel fire doors, high speed rubber doors, dock levelers, truck restraints, dock seals and shelters, barrier gates, bollards and HVLS fans. That is the inventory of a company that services industrial clients as well as houses.
The Mississauga branch sits at 1375 Southdown Rd, in the Clarkson area near the QEW, which puts Lorne Park, Port Credit, Erin Mills and Streetsville within a short run and keeps most of the west end reachable without crossing the city. Published hours are 24 hours a day, every day. Worth asking what that means in practice, because in this trade round-the-clock listings usually mean a dispatch line is answered overnight while a technician is scheduled for the next available window. Confirm whether after-hours attendance carries a premium call-out rate before you agree to anything at two in the morning.
The repair work described is the standard list, and the standard list is what most homeowners need. Torsion springs are the usual culprit, and they fail on cold mornings because steel loses ductility and the door is heaviest when everything has contracted overnight. Cables fray, rollers get noisy and eventually seize, tracks shift after a bumper tap or after a season of frost heave under the slab. Openers from LiftMaster and Chamberlain dominate this market and parts for them are widely stocked, which is why a fully loaded truck can often finish on the first visit. Ask when you book whether the technician will carry the spring size for your door, since a mismatch means a second appointment.
For new installations, insulation is the detail that matters more in Mississauga than the brochure photos. A polyurethane-core door with a decent R-value makes a real difference where there is living space above the garage, and it holds up better against the wind that comes off the lake through Lakeview and Port Credit. Steel gauge, wind load, the hardware track and whether the door is Canadian-made all affect price and longevity. Dodds Garage Doors says it installs Canadian-made doors, which is worth confirming on the specific model you choose, along with what the manufacturer warranty covers, how long the labour portion runs and whether any of it transfers if you sell the house.
Who this suits: a homeowner replacing a tired door who wants to see options, compare series and possibly finance the job, or a property manager who needs a fire door drop tested and a dock leveler serviced by the same supplier. Who it may not suit: someone who wants the lowest possible number on a single spring replacement. Larger established companies with showrooms, trucks and warranty administration generally price above an independent operator, and that difference buys traceability rather than a faster fix.
The Google Business Profile rating of 4.9 from 640 reviews, read on September 3, 2026, is high for a volume operation in this category, and the count itself is meaningful because grumbles about garage door work tend to surface loudly. The company also cites Consumer Choice Award recognition and figures for total reviews and customers served across its network. Those are company claims rather than independently checked numbers, so treat them accordingly.
Before booking, get the quote itemised into parts and labour, ask whether the estimate visit is free as advertised, and check whether the price includes hauling away the old door and hardware. Ask about lead time on a special-order door, because colour and window configurations often push delivery out by weeks. And if a technician recommends replacing the whole door rather than a component, ask what specifically has failed. Sometimes it is genuinely the panels. Sometimes it is a forty dollar roller.

Dodds Garage Doors FAQs
Is Dodds Garage Doors really open 24 hours?
Its Google profile lists open 24 hours, seven days a week, but confirm what that covers before relying on it. In this trade a round-the-clock listing most often means calls are answered at any hour and a technician is dispatched at the next available slot. Ask directly whether an overnight or weekend attendance carries a call-out premium.
What does Dodds Garage Doors charge for a broken spring?
No pricing is published in the material available, so you will need a quote. Ask for it broken into parts and labour, confirm whether the estimate visit is free as the site advertises, and check whether the technician carries the correct spring size for your door so the job finishes on one visit.
Where is the Mississauga branch located?
At 1375 Southdown Rd, Unit 20, Mississauga, ON L5J 2Z1, in the Clarkson area near the QEW. That location keeps Lorne Park, Port Credit, Erin Mills, Streetsville and Meadowvale within a reasonable drive. The phone number listed is +1 905-858-1861.
Do they handle commercial and industrial doors as well as houses?
Yes, the commercial catalogue is extensive. It includes sectional and rolling steel doors, glass aluminum, rolling steel fire doors, high speed rubber doors, dock levelers, truck restraints, dock seals and shelters, barrier gates, bollards and HVLS fans, along with fire door drop testing and preventative maintenance programs.
How long has the company been in business?
Since 1958, according to its own website, and it describes itself as Canadian family owned. That is more than six decades of trading, which matters mainly because warranty administration on a new door only means something if the installer is still around to honour it.
How good are the reviews?
The Mississauga branch shows 4.9 from 640 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read on September 3, 2026. That is a strong figure given the volume, and garage door complaints usually surface publicly. The company separately cites larger review totals and Consumer Choice Award recognition across its network, which are claims from its own site.
