Quick Overview

iHow this is made

This summary is generated from the verified data on this profile: services, service area, credentials, warranty terms and the company's Google review record. It is reviewed by an editor before publishing and refreshed whenever the underlying data changes. Nothing here is asserted that is not stated elsewhere on this page.

Editorial Standards

Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton brings a large review base, 4.8 from 1,038 Google reviews, and the backing of a Canadian employee-owned company with offices in Calgary, Edmonton and the Greater Toronto Area. The Edmonton branch works from 1919 84 Avenue NW and serves Edmonton, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, Sturgeon County and Parkland County. Basement waterproofing sits beside foundation repair, crawl space repair, concrete lifting and radon mitigation on its service list, and the waterproofing work includes interior drainage, sump pumps, wall vapor barriers and dehumidifiers. Many of those reviews describe concrete lifting rather than basement work, so ask to see waterproofing jobs specifically. Inspections are free, and the office keeps long hours from 5 AM on weekdays.

Editorial Review

Our Take on Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton

Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton earns its place on scale: 4.8 stars from 1,038 Google reviews and the backing of a Canadian employee-owned company. The reviews skew toward concrete lifting, and two complaints about estimate details and warranty follow-up are worth raising before you sign. For interior drainage and sump pump work with a free inspection, it is a credible, well-established choice.

I originally had my driveway leveled by polylevel out of Sherwood park as they had great warranty and reviews. So 1.5 years later the driveway settled and I needed that warranty work. Called ground Works and after talking with someone out of the states I was assured they would honour the warranty and I got a appointment scheduled. Shortly after I had to change the appointment so I called back to reschedule and not only could the next person not reschedule the appointment theu couldn't even find my appointment. I evenly said whatever my wife will be home but I will not be and left it alone hoping that someone would show up. The appointment came and amazingly someone actually showed up. Instead of just getting the driveway warrantied he just tried to upsell my wife on a million different things. He repeatedly tried to get her to let him in the house to check the basement but my dog would not let him in the house. She kept saying just fix the drive way just fix the driveway. Eventually he came back with some outrageous quote to redo all the window wells and fix cracks in the garage floor to which my wife replied no. After that he said he would put in for the warranty work but it was unlikely to get done because we wouldn't sign up for the upsell. It has been 3 months and haven't heard a single thing from them. I would not deal with this company. They just harrase you for 5 star ratings when they come to your house. I'm sure that's why they aren't a 3 star company.

Had some flooding issues in the basement contacted many companies but no one had a real solution. Then I contacted Stefan from groundwork's. He came out did a full investigation of the problem and came with a solution -and a quote. I appreciated his honesty and integrity. And his no pressure approach. A few weeks later the crew arrived and completed the new drainage system exactly as Stefan Luca promised. Great work guys.

Edit to review Oct.23 (6 months after initial installation) 1/5 stars for needing to pay for a mistake that the crew made during installation and being sold that “your entire wall has lifetime warranty”. The “lifetime warranty” is ONLY for their system and not for any damages to your house that a failure in their system has caused. Our house was assess on Oct.8 and we made payment for the repair. Was told repair should be done asap as they needed to dig out the window well. After 2 follow up phone calls, and for our file to be “escalated” the repair is still not booked. We had sediment that came through our window, which caused drywall swelling and the trim to lift from the drywall surface. Had someone out from groundworks promptly come to assess the situation and warranty covered work was activated because they suspected some type of mesh was not installed, allowing the sediment/moisture to enter through the window well. Although it was something they omitted on initial install, we were still charged $300+ to get this fixed. The booking for the initial install was so so quick which leads me to believe they strive for excellence with initial customers but let the customer service for warranty type stuff fall extremely short. Initial review in April: We had a great experience from our initial assessment with Stephen to the install work done by Tosin and Francis for our indoor drain system. Communication was professional, clear, and informative from everyone we encountered from Groundworks. We were especially impressed with how hardworking the install team was to get the project completed on schedule and with quality. We also appreciate that they were also respectful of our home.

Kelly, Abdul, Zander all did their best work for me. All my home’s concrete needed lifting. Make-do additional concrete blocks in place on top of my sunken concrete were no longer a good idea. Great work guys!

Absolute terrible customer service after the bill is paid. The original visit and agreement process with the salesman was great - BUT he (Mike) is not there anymore. Poor communication day of install but it got done. Could have done a better job myself with the routing of the sump pump pvc lines - and finally after speaking with Evan thought I had resolution to fix the poor install. But after saying he will get it taken care of - no response back from multiple emails and phone voicemails. DO not use this company if you expect good customer service after paying premium money for an install

Company Background

About Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton

Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton starts with the size of its track record: 4.8 stars from 1,038 Google reviews, read October 21, 2026. The branch is part of Groundworks, a Canadian company built on employee ownership that formed when Clarke Basement Authority, PolyLevel Alberta Corp. and Basement Authority of Calgary united under one name. The company site says it has more than 30 years of experience, though it does not give a founding year for the Edmonton branch itself.

The branch sits at 1919 84 Avenue NW, and its own page lists Edmonton, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont, Sturgeon County, Parkland County, Red Deer and Camrose as places it serves. On the waterproofing side, the company describes interior drainage, sump pumps, a basement wall vapor barrier, FreezeGuard and basement dehumidifiers. One Edmonton homeowner, Trevor, wrote that Ihor and his crew broke up the basement floor and installed the drainage system and sump pump, and praised the workmanship. A testimonial on the branch page describes a crew that excavated, installed interior and exterior basement systems, and arrived on time.

A fair reading of the reviews needs one caveat. A large share of the 1,038 reviews describe driveway and sidewalk lifting, not basement work, so the star rating reflects the whole business. The less flattering reviews are about follow-up. A July 2026 reviewer gave four stars after a caulking item discussed at the estimate was missing from the contract, an extra cost of under $700, and another reviewer gave one star over a warranty visit that never happened. Those cases involved concrete work, but they show where to press for clear paperwork.

Groundworks Foundation Repair Edmonton suits homeowners who want a large, structured company, a free inspection and a warranty-backed system for interior water control. It suits less well anyone who wants a small owner-run crew they can name before signing, since the branch page names no local technicians. Ask for the warranty in writing, whether it transfers on sale, and exactly what the contract lists.

Alberta has no provincial waterproofing licence. Confirm WCB Alberta clearance, the City of Edmonton business licence, and that any plumbing connection, such as a sump discharge, carries a Safety Codes permit. The branch is open Monday to Friday 5 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 6 AM to 9 PM and Sunday 8 AM to 9 PM.

Ask for proof of WCB Alberta clearance, the City of Edmonton business licence, and a Safety Codes permit for any plumbing connection such as a sump discharge. The branch page shows Edmonton Construction Association, Alberta Construction Safety Association and BBB logos, which are worth asking the company to confirm.

The branch at 1919 84 Avenue NW lists Monday to Friday 5 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 6 AM to 9 PM and Sunday 8 AM to 9 PM. The branch page says appointments are available as early as the next day.

  • Does Groundworks Edmonton offer a warranty and free estimates, and where does it work?

Yes, inspections are free and the waterproofing systems are described as warranty-backed, but the website gives no term in years or transfer rules, so request the warranty in writing. • What warranty do they offer?

There are usually two warranties on a job: the manufacturer covers materials, the contractor covers workmanship. Get both in writing and check whether the workmanship coverage transfers if you sell.
