Re keyed a lock for me and now every time I shut the door it locks behind me. Followed up several times with no response and then told he was on vacation. Had to hire another locksmith to stop the door from automatically locking behind me.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot recommend Spencer enough! My tenant had a key break off inside the door lock, and I was concerned that the entire lock would need to be replaced. After contacting another locksmith who quoted me significantly more, I was fortunate enough to find Spencer. He was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! He was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and, most importantly, honest. He successfully extracted the broken key without damaging the lock, allowing us to continue using the existing lock and spare keys. He saved me the unnecessary expense of replacing a perfectly good lock! What really stood out was his genuine kindness and integrity. He took the time to assess the situation and resolved the issue without recommending unnecessary work. Spencer runs a father-and-son business, and it’s clear that they take pride in providing excellent service. Thank you so much, Spencer! You turned a stressful situation into such a positive experience. I will absolutely be recommending your services to anyone who needs a locksmith. Honest, reliable, reasonably priced, and genuinely kind. Five stars all around!

Had a doorknob suddenly detach from the latch assembly and spent a good amount of time watching YouTube tutorials without success before reaching out to Spencer. Not only was he able to identify the issue quickly based on a photo, he also assisted with troubleshooting such that I could fix the issue promptly! Very honest, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Company Background

About Ideal Lock and Service

Ideal Lock and Service is a family-owned mobile locksmith that says it has served Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area since 1989. It works from a base Google lists on Parkview Boulevard, but there is no shop counter on file. Spencer, who posts on the company's Google profile, travels to the customer in a lettered van, and key cutting and duplication is by appointment only.

The company's website describes residential, commercial and industrial work, and its Google post lists lockouts, high security locks, emergency service, master keying, rekeying, automatic doors, lock repairs and door repair and replacement. The van carries a Medeco decal and lists master keying, electric strikes, hardware installation and high security locks along its side. The business describes itself as bonded and insured, though it publishes no policy number and no licence number.

Ideal Lock and Service holds 4.9 from 222 Google reviews, read 2026-10-29, and Spencer is named in most of the recent ones. A landlord praised him for extracting a broken key without damaging the lock, which saved a replacement. A homeowner said he talked her through a deadbolt installation by phone. Another reviewer said he rekeyed a lock and showed her son how the mechanism works. Two recent one-star reviews are worth reading: one customer said a rekeyed lock began locking behind them and follow-up calls went unanswered while Spencer was on vacation, and another said a lock was not fixed. Against 216 five-star ratings those are a small share, but they point to slow follow-up when he is away.

Google shows the business open 24 hours every day. The company's website says both since 1989 and over 26 years of experience, so the exact start date is unclear.

It suits homeowners, landlords and small businesses that want one named locksmith and a family company with decades behind it. It suits less well anyone who wants a staffed storefront, a team of dispatchers or walk-in key cutting. Before booking, ask for the price up front, ask for ID and a marked vehicle, ask whether a lockout will be non-destructive, ask what warranty covers parts and labour, and check the Mississauga business licence, since Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence.
