The Ranking

Our top 5 locksmiths in Mississauga

Mississauga's mix of 1960s and 1970s bungalows in Cooksville and Clarkson, newer townhouses in Meadowvale and Churchill Meadows, and condo towers around Square One creates steady demand for lockouts, rekeying after a move and key fob copies. Landlords rekey between tenants, and drivers in the Gateway and Airport Corporate Centre areas often need car keys cut quickly. Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence for residential locksmiths, so there is no government register to look up. The checks that matter are local: ask for photo ID, a marked vehicle and proof of insurance, confirm the company holds a City of Mississauga business licence, and get the price in writing before work starts. Only a handful of Mississauga locksmiths passed our test, because many listings use addresses that are mailboxes, offices or homes. Three of the five here are mobile or small-unit operations, and each entry says plainly what we could and could not confirm.

Methodology

How we chose the best locksmiths in Mississauga

We read Google Maps data and company websites for Mississauga locksmiths on October 30, 2026. A company had to be operating, rated 4.5 or higher from at least 50 Google reviews, run a working website with a logo and photos, and sit inside Mississauga. We listed companies in Google Maps order, with the two that did not appear in the main search placed last. We rejected listings in other cities, auto-only companies, kiosks, doorway sites and listings with too few reviews, including Locksmith Express, which is based in Etobicoke. Pop-A-Lock Mississauga is a mobile franchise with no street address and In-Trust works from a small commercial unit, so both are included as lower-confidence fillers and flagged. No company paid for a place.

Hiring

How to choose a locksmith in Mississauga

  1. Get a firm price on the phone

Ask for the full cost of the job, call-out included, before anyone drives over. A real shop can quote a lockout or a rekey in one call.

  2. Ask for the business name

Write down the registered name and the address. Many listings are call centres that pass the job to whoever is closest.

  3. Check ID when they arrive

The technician should match the company you called, with a marked vehicle or ID. A reputable locksmith will also ask for proof that you live there.

  4. Ask about the method

Most lockouts can be opened without drilling. If the first move is to drill and replace the lock, ask why before you agree.

  5. Get a written invoice

The invoice should name the company, the parts used and the labour. Keep it in case the new lock fails.

  6. Ask about the warranty

New hardware usually carries a manufacturer warranty, and the work should carry the locksmith's own. Get both lengths in writing.

Questions to ask before hiring

0 of 8 asked

Red flags

  • A very low quote on the phone that grows once the door is open
  • No business name, only a generic 'locksmith service' answer
  • Drilling the lock as the first and only option
  • An unmarked car and no ID
  • Cash only, with no invoice

FAQ

Locksmith companies in Mississauga FAQs

Does Mississauga require locksmiths to be licensed?

Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence for residential locksmiths, so the check is on the business. Ask for photo ID, a marked vehicle and proof of insurance, confirm the company holds a City of Mississauga business licence, and get a written price before work starts. Only Keyfobs and In-Trust publish a claim to be licensed, and neither lists a number.

How much does a locksmith cost in Mississauga?

Prices depend on the job and the hour, so ask for the total before work starts. Keyfobs posts typical rekey prices of 30 to 50 dollars for one lock and 120 to 250 dollars for a whole home, and In-Trust quotes a flat 29 dollar service call. Expect higher rates at night and on weekends, and treat a quote that will not be given by phone as a warning sign.

Where can I get a key copied in Mississauga without a locksmith call-out?

Henry's Hardware and Locksmithing on Meyerside Drive and Keyfobs Locksmith on Dundas Street East both run counters where you can bring a key or fob. A Henry's reviewer said an old key that Canadian Tire and a Minute Key kiosk could not copy was cut within minutes. Call ahead, since both keep weekday daytime hours.
