Called three places this morning and this locksmith had the best price. They came out the same day and rekeyed all of our locks and swapped out a few deadbolts in just a couple of hours. The technician suggested options we hadn't thought of that turned out to be better in the long run. He was kind and never pushy. Would absolutely use them again. 10/10.

I've used this locksmith for rekeying my home locks, car fobs and just went in with with a broken fob case that he was able to fix instead of replacing it. For over 8 years now, they have provided great service for my family.

Company Background

About A Everest Locksmith

A Everest Locksmith has operated from a storefront at 1581 Bank Street, Unit D, in Ottawa's Alta Vista area since 2001, and that long history on one busy road is the first thing worth knowing about it. The company calls itself family owned, and the shop has signage, a wall of key blanks, shelves of handlesets and a row of branded vans, which is more than most Ottawa locksmith listings can show.

The work covers homes, businesses and vehicles. At the house, that means lockouts, rekeying, lock changes, deadbolts, keyless entry and key-alike jobs. For commercial clients the site lists master key systems, panic bars, hinges, door closers and automatic door operators, and says its clients include shopping malls, government buildings and small retailers. Brands named on the site are Weiser, Schlage, Yale, Corbin, ASSA, Sargent, Abloy, Medeco and Mul-T-Lock. Car work includes transponder keys, remotes, ignition and door lock repair, and the shop cuts keys for motorcycles and ATVs too.

Reviewers back this up. Brad described a residential installation, security modification and key-alike job done within 48 hours of a reasonable quote, with a phone call 15 minutes before the technicians arrived. Georges, mentioned by several customers, is praised for fast key cutting and for juggling calls and walk-ins. The service area on the website includes Kanata, Orleans, Barrhaven, Nepean, Gloucester, Westboro, the Glebe, Hunt Club, Stittsville and Manotick.

A Everest Locksmith has 4.7 from 807 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28. The five reviews we read were all five stars, so the sample is favourable, and several are about key cutting rather than emergency call-outs.

It suits homeowners, landlords and small businesses who want a locksmith with a physical shop they can visit. It suits less well anyone who wants only a smart lock specialist, since the site lists keyless entry but does not feature smart lock brands. Ontario does not license locksmiths provincially, so before booking ask for the registered business name, proof of insurance, a firm price on the phone and photo ID from the technician. Also ask whether a lockout will be done without drilling, and what warranty covers parts and labour.

A Everest Locksmith FAQs

  • Do I need a licence to be a locksmith in Ottawa, and how do I check?

Ontario does not license locksmiths provincially, so there is no licence number to look up. A Everest Locksmith states on its website that its technicians are licensed, bonded and insured. Before booking, ask for the registered business name, proof of insurance, a firm price on the phone and photo ID from whoever arrives.

  • Is A Everest Locksmith open 24 hours in Ottawa?

Google lists A Everest Locksmith as open 24 hours, and the website advertises 24/7 emergency service by phone at 613-248-3535. The shop at 1581 Bank Street keeps regular hours of 9 to 5:30 Monday to Friday and 9 to 5 on Saturday, with Sunday closed for walk-ins.

  • Which parts of Ottawa does A Everest Locksmith serve, and how do I pay?

The website lists Ottawa, Kanata, Orleans, Barrhaven, Nepean, Gloucester, Westboro, the Glebe, Hunt Club, Stittsville and Manotick. It states that free estimates are offered, that the quoted price is the price you pay, and that it accepts cash, Visa, Mastercard and cheques.

  • Is A Everest Locksmith licensed and insured?

We checked 0 of 1 credentials against the issuing authority. Verified items carry the date we checked; reported items are what the business told us and we could not independently confirm.

  • What areas does A Everest Locksmith serve?

Ottawa. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does A Everest Locksmith offer emergency service?

Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.

  • What warranty do they offer?

Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
