Editorial Review
Our Take on Key it locks Inc.
A genuine Merivale Road shop with a marked van and a counter staffed all week is rarer in this trade than it should be. Reviews favour quick key and fob jobs over big installs, and the site names no licence, founding year or technicians.

Company Background
About Key it locks Inc.
Key it locks Inc. sits in a plaza unit at 1556 Merivale Road in Nepean, and that shop is the reason it makes this list. The sign over the door reads Key It, the window shows deadbolts and safes, and a white van lettered with the company's phone number and address parks out front. Inside, a wall of key blanks covers everything from Toyota keys to boat and motorcycle keys, and a bench of cutting machines sits beside displays of Medeco, Baldwin and other hardware. Reviewers describe it as the place people get sent when another shop cannot cut an odd key.
The company does residential, commercial and automotive work. For homes that means lockouts, rekeying, lock repair and installation, broken key extraction, smart lock installs, safes, mailbox locks and garage door locks. For businesses it lists master key systems, keys cut by code, door closers and operators, high security locks and safety deposit keys. The site shows hardware from Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Baldwin, Emtek, Weiser, Lagard and Richelieu. It says it serves Nepean, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans and Gatineau, claims more than 5,000 satisfied customers, and Google lists it open around the clock.
The reviews are specific. Sherestha had locks changed and a smart lock installed, and the crew came back promptly when one lock had a minor issue. Perry, quoted $300 for a brand key elsewhere, was told in under a minute at the counter that his fobs worked and needed programming, which cost $42.50. Steve brings keys for old ATVs and outboard motors. Key it locks Inc. holds 4.6 stars from 291 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28. The fair complaint is a July 2026 one-star review about a refused refund after two car keys failed to program, so ask about its refund terms for car keys before you pay.
Key it locks Inc. suits people who want a real counter to walk up to, a quick key or fob job, or a home and car locksmith on one phone number. It suits less well anyone who needs a named technician, a licence number or a trade body membership, since the site says its locksmiths are licensed, certified and insured but gives no numbers or names. Ontario does not license locksmiths provincially, so before booking ask for the registered business name, proof of insurance, a firm price on the phone, photo ID at the door, whether the lockout will be non-destructive, and the warranty on parts and labour.
