Editorial Standards

Southern Roofing and Waterproofing is a Calgary contractor whose main trade is roofing, with waterproofing as a second line of business. Founded in 2010 and based in northeast Calgary, it installs metal, shingle, flat and commercial roofs, plus siding and stucco. Its waterproofing work is mostly exterior foundation membranes with drainage assemblies, weeping tile replacement, crack injection, interior drainage and sump systems, and commercial parkade and below-grade membranes. Google shows 4.7 from 56 reviews, read October 20, 2026, though the reviews we read were about roofing, hail repair and siding rather than basement work. The company works in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks and states it is licensed, insured and WCB compliant. Buyers who want a pure basement waterproofing specialist should ask for foundation project references first.

Editorial Review

Our Take on Southern Roofing and Waterproofing

Treat this as a roofer with a real waterproofing division rather than a basement specialist. Its foundation and commercial membrane offering is clearly described, but the Google praise we read is all about roofing, so ask for foundation project references before booking.

Outstanding customer service from the whole team at Southern Roofing & Waterproofing. I can not thank you enough for the quick response and rectifying the issues that were left by another contractor. Many thanks and much appreciation.

Southern Roofing recently performed roof work on our house. They did a great job and were timely given the backlog of work that they have. The admin's were super responsive and quality control folks that came in to check the work post install were professional and willing to answer/ solve any issues/ problems that remained. The work site itself was clean and orderly with minimal nails an garbage left over once the work was complete. The craftsmanship indicated the workers cared about their product. Overall, I would recommend Southern Roofing. The admins, Roanna and Cheryl were readily available to answer all calls or responded within 24 hours of a voice mail. Thank you for your work!

I had a great experience with this roofing company. Roanna was very helpful throughout the process and easy to communicate with. One of the workers, Wyatt, was especially professional and clearly knew what he was doing. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable roofing services.

I am happy that Cheryl is working for Southern Roofing, such a reputable company. Cheryl and her crew installed a roof on my home and a friends home in Ontario. All I can say is precision at its best. Southern Roofing you have an asset on your team. Cheryl will produce and deliver everytime. Hang on to this diamond. Update - Too bad and such a shame, you didn't pay Cheryl what she was worth. You lost a great worker ! Cheap cheap cheap

Worked with Cheryl to coordinate our insurance claim from the August 2024 hailstorm. She was professional and helped me throughout the process. It was also great meeting her in person as well as Kimberly in the office.

Company Background

About Southern Roofing and Waterproofing

Southern Roofing and Waterproofing is a roofing company first and a waterproofing contractor second, and that order matters when you read this listing. Founded in 2010, it works from a unit at 3605 29 Street NE in northeast Calgary and describes itself as a builder of exterior envelope systems for custom homes, commercial properties and multi-family projects in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks, with work reaching Revelstoke and Invermere in British Columbia.

The waterproofing side, according to its website, centres on exterior foundation membrane systems with integrated drainage, weeping tile replacement, crack injection and structural sealing, and interior drainage and sump systems. For commercial clients it lists parkade traffic membranes, expansion joint and sealant systems, and below-grade membranes. Its own blog recommends spray-applied rubberized asphalt membranes for new construction. It names CertainTeed, IKO, Carlisle SynTec, SOPREMA, Tremco and Firestone as manufacturer partners and says it provides manufacturer-backed warranties plus a workmanship warranty, though it publishes no warranty lengths.

The company holds 4.7 from 56 Google reviews, read October 20, 2026. Every review we read was about roofing, hail claims or siding, and none described basement or foundation work. Reviewers praise coordinators Roanna and Cheryl for communication, Mark for walking a homeowner through metal roofing options, and crew member Wyatt for professionalism. One reviewer said the roof ran longer than expected because of its complexity, though the price held, and another noted a backlog of work. The site states the company is licensed, insured and WCB compliant, that its safety program meets COR standards, and that it can provide bid and performance bonds on qualified projects. Google lists the phone as 403-717-0610 while the website shows 825-793-3119, and we use Google's number.

It suits owners and building managers who want roofing and exterior waterproofing handled by one firm, especially on newer or higher-end homes and commercial buildings. It suits less well anyone who needs interior-only basement leak repair from a specialist, since we found no review evidence of residential waterproofing jobs. Alberta has no trade-specific waterproofing licence, so check the business through the City of Calgary business licence and building permit lookup, Alberta Safety Codes permits, and Alberta Consumer Protection business licensing. Then ask for foundation project references, the written membrane warranty terms, and who supervises the excavation.

Southern Roofing and Waterproofing FAQs

  • Is Southern Roofing and Waterproofing licensed in Calgary?

The company states on its website that it is licensed, insured and WCB compliant, but it publishes no licence number. Alberta has no trade-specific waterproofing contractor licence, so verify the business through the City of Calgary business licence and building permit lookup, Alberta Safety Codes permits, and Alberta Consumer Protection business licensing. Its site also says its safety program meets COR standards and that bonding is available on qualified projects.

  • What are Southern Roofing and Waterproofing's hours and do they do emergency work?

Google lists the office as open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and closed weekends. The company website shows 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays instead, so confirm before visiting. The site also lists an emergency line for emergency roofing or water intrusion, and the phone number on Google is 403-717-0610.

  • What warranty, financing and service area does Southern Roofing and Waterproofing offer?

It says it provides manufacturer-backed warranties plus a workmanship warranty, with terms varying by product and system, and it does not publish warranty lengths, so ask for them in writing. The website has a financing page for roofing and waterproofing projects and offers free consultations. It serves Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks in Alberta, and also lists Revelstoke and Invermere in British Columbia.

  • Is Southern Roofing and Waterproofing licensed and insured?

We checked 0 of 3 credentials against the issuing authority. Verified items carry the date we checked; reported items are what the business told us and we could not independently confirm.

  • What areas does Southern Roofing and Waterproofing serve?

Calgary. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does Southern Roofing and Waterproofing offer emergency service?

Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.

  • What warranty do they offer?

Manufacturer-backed warranties on materials and systems plus a workmanship warranty; lengths and transferability are not published.. There are usually two warranties on a job: the manufacturer covers materials, the contractor covers workmanship. Get both in writing and check whether the workmanship coverage transfers if you sell.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
