Editorial Review
Our Take on The Cool Factory Heating & Cooling
A perfect 5.0 across 106 reviews, nearly all naming the owner directly, is the kind of consistency that is hard to manufacture at any size. The disclosed $80 diagnostic fee is a small but genuine point of transparency compared with companies that don't publish one.
Best for: homeowners who want a small, locally owned HVAC company with a personal touch

- Fur Mommy245.0⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had such a great experience with The Cool Factory! David was absolutely wonderful to work with. I called him on Thursday about an HVAC issue at one of my properties, and he was able to come out the very next day. He diagnosed the problem and, even better, was able to get it fixed right then and there! David was responsive, knowledgeable, very reasonably priced, and just genuinely pleasant to work with. I really appreciated how quickly he took care of everything and made the entire process easy. It’s refreshing to find someone who does what they say they’re going to do, shows up when they say they will, and doesn’t overcharge you in the process. I will definitely be using The Cool Factory again and would highly recommend David to anyone needing HVAC services. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐September 2026Google
- Meg P5.0I live in Amherst and have used The Cool Factory for several years now. They serviced my furnace in the past and installed my new one a few years ago. They have also worked on my hot water tank. I am extremely pleased with them. Dave, the owner, is very professional, courteous and helpful. They do a great job at a fair price. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed.September 2026Google
- Rick Ecker5.0Dave was very honest knowledgeable and fair with his service and pricing. I would recommend Cool Factory to anyone who needs HVAC service. Dave repaired my furnace last year and just did A/C repair for my mother in law in Tonawanda. We are very pleased with his service.August 2026Google
- Dodie5.0Dave was recommended by former clients and I am extremely pleased. I called him in the evening, he returned my call the same evening and came out the next day. About The Cool Factory Heating & Cooling
The Cool Factory Heating & Cooling is a locally owned company run by Dave, whose name appears in nearly every review on the company's Google profile, a strong indicator that the owner remains directly involved in day-to-day service work rather than having stepped back into a purely administrative role.
Meg P's review, posted after several years as a customer, describes Dave servicing a furnace, installing a new one, and working on a hot water tank across that span, calling him professional and courteous throughout. Mackenzie Potts credited Dave and a second technician, Jordan, with a same-day estimate and a full AC and furnace installation completed within a week, praising the communication along the way. Dodie's review describes calling in the evening and getting a same-evening callback with next-day service, a fast response for a company this size. Rick Ecker used the company for both a furnace repair and an AC repair for a family member in a different town, calling the pricing fair both times. Cody Young's review, describing an AC installed two years earlier, notes that Dave remains readily available for questions well after the original job was finished.
The Cool Factory offers free replacement estimates and charges an $80 diagnostic fee for repair appointments, a specific and disclosed number rather than a vague call-out charge. The company services furnaces, air conditioners, ductless mini-splits, and offers duct cleaning and repair, covering both the installation and maintenance side of residential HVAC work.
Being owner-operated at this scale means the same one or two people handle most jobs, which shows up in the reviews as continuity between the original install and any follow-up question years later, but it also means the company cannot match the scheduling capacity of a larger, multi-crew operator during peak demand.
Who this suits: a homeowner who wants a small, owner-operated company with continuity between the original installation and any follow-up questions years later. Who might look elsewhere: anyone who needs guaranteed same-day service during the busiest weeks of summer or winter, when a smaller crew's capacity is more likely to be stretched.
Before booking, ask about current scheduling lead time, and confirm the $80 diagnostic fee policy, including whether it is credited toward a repair.
