Editorial Review
Our Take on WaterWork Plumbing
A four-year customer thanking the same company by name, and a same-day first-timer getting a careful diagnosis, point to a plumber that treats routine calls seriously rather than saving its best technicians for emergencies. The tight weekday-only schedule is the real limitation here, not the one negative review sitting inside thousands of positive ones.
Best for: routine and repeat residential plumbing repairs across metro Detroit
What We Like
- 4.7 rating from 2,315 Google reviews, read September 18, 2026
- Reviewers repeatedly name individual technicians (Ryan, Adam, Collin, Mark) for specific repairs
- Multiple reviewers describe using the company for years, suggesting genuine repeat business
- Based in Ferndale, directly north of Detroit
- Handles routine fixture and valve repairs as well as diagnostic work
Things to Consider
- Open weekdays only, 8:30am to 5pm, closed Saturday and Sunday, with no weekend coverage at all
- No license number, year founded, or credentials published on the Google listing; ask for the technician's Michigan license before booking
- At least one recent review describes a below-average experience with a metal pipe replacement job

- Dawn Paulpicio5.0I am a very pleased first time customer. A wonderful, polite, professional young gentleman named Ryan P. Came out to help diagnose water that was leaking from my toilet as well as under my bathroom sink. Waterworks was the first company that contacted me immediately! You have a great employee!! Thank you, He also was very respectful and kind to my two dogs. I will be contacting Waterworks for any of my future plumbing in my home.August 2026Google
- Charles Hall5.0We had a gate valve for a hot water shutoff in the basement completely stuck, as well as a shutoff for a vanity sink upstairs. The plumber, Adam, was able to repair the valve and also replaced the shut off valve. He was very polite and professional and kept us informed of everything the job entailed and the work that was being performed. I will not hesitate to use Water Works for any plumbing need I have. I highly recommend this company.July 2026Google
- Profe Snyder5.0They listened to what I needed, and took care of it quickly. Mark was the BEST! So friendly and skilled! Fair price for quality work. I will DEFINITELY call them the next time I need a plumbing repair!June 2026Google
- Rachelle Easley5.0I’ve been using WaterWork Plumbing for a while, and my experiences have been great. Nice and friendly staff. Collin did a great job. He explained everything to me before he started. Very nice and professional. He was quick and got the job done. I can always depend on WaterWork.May 2026Google
- Amy Ruopp1.0I usually give this company great reviews but this time was terrible. I shared with dispatch when I made the appointment that I needed a metal replacement fitting for underlay sink (dishwasher issue). They got me my appointment, guy was late, that happens, BUT had the wrong address. He was nice enough, came in saw what he needed, went back ut and spent over 20 minutes in his truck only to come back and tell me he needed some no flammable tool, it would take 10 minutes to get. 40 minutes later he is back (were now up to an hour of him futzing around looking for the correct tools at 177.00 an hour, which he informed me I had to pay for). Took him all of 20 minutes to actually do the work. Im a single mom and a teacher, I can't afford to pay for someone else's incompetence. Im a single mom and a teacher. He should have come prepared as I was clear when I made the appointment what I needed. I am distressed and feel really ripped off. Maybe its an anomaly but Ill really hesitate before calling them gain. Buyer beware.May 2026Google

About WaterWork Plumbing
WaterWork Plumbing works out of Ferndale, just north of Detroit, and has built a 4.7 rating from 2,315 Google reviews, read September 18, 2026, largely on routine residential repair work rather than large-scale emergency response. That distinction matters when picking a plumber: this is a company reviewers come back to year after year for ordinary problems, not necessarily the first call for a 2 a.m. flood.
The reviews name individual technicians consistently. Ryan P. is credited with diagnosing a toilet and bathroom sink leak on a first-time customer's initial call. Adam repaired a stuck gate valve for a hot water shutoff and replaced a vanity sink shutoff in the same visit. Collin gets credit from a multi-year customer for friendly, competent service. Mark is described as skilled and fairly priced by another reviewer who says they will definitely call again. That density of named, specific praise across a review base this size is a reasonable signal of a real, functioning field team rather than a review-farm pattern.
Worth noting: not every recent review is positive. One customer who says they usually rate the company well described a frustrating experience with a metal pipe replacement that fell short of expectations. A single negative review inside thousands of positive ones is normal for any service business: read it for what specifically went wrong rather than treating it as disqualifying.
WaterWork keeps weekday hours only, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with both Saturday and Sunday closed. That is the tightest schedule of the plumbers on this list, and it rules the company out for weekend or emergency work regardless of how strong the weekday reviews are.
Who this fits: metro Detroit homeowners with routine repairs, fixture leaks and shutoff valve problems, planning ahead during the work week. Who it fits less well: anyone with a weekend emergency, since the posted schedule offers no weekend coverage at all.
Before booking, ask for a written estimate, confirm the technician's individual Michigan plumbing license, and ask directly what happened in that one negative review if it concerns you. A company that keeps operating the same way afterward is telling you something either way.
