Aquatech Waterproofing and Omni Basement Systems are the two waterproofing companies in Hamilton that cleared our checks. The Ranking

Our top 2 waterproofing contractors in Hamilton

Hamilton basements deal with clay soils, an escarpment that moves water downhill, and older stone and block foundations in the lower city. Ontario has no waterproofing-specific licence, so check a WSIB clearance certificate, liability insurance and City of Hamilton permits for drain and sump work before you sign. Searching Google for a Hamilton waterproofer turns up many five star listings that are really Toronto or GTA companies using a template page and a local suite. We kept the two that offered the clearest evidence of a real local operation, and we say plainly where that evidence is thin. Get at least two written quotes, and ask who will be on site and where they are based.

Methodology

How we chose the best waterproofing contractors in Hamilton

This list follows Google Maps order for waterproofing searches in Hamilton, read October 21, 2026. A company needed 4.5 stars or higher, 50 or more Google reviews, an operating status, a working website and a street address. Most high-rated Hamilton listings were rejected because they were multi-city template sites with a suite or residential address and no local staff. The two shown are the closest to qualified, and each profile discloses its limits. The list is shorter than ten on purpose.

Hiring

How to choose a waterproofing contractor in Hamilton

  1. Verify insurance and credentials

Ask for a current certificate of insurance and confirm registration or licensing with the authority that issues it, not with the company.

  2. Ask for a written estimate

Scope, materials, removal, disposal and who pulls the permit should all be named on the page rather than agreed on the doorstep.

  3. Compare multiple quotes

Two or three bids on the same scope. A number far below the others usually means something has been left out of it.

  4. Understand the warranty

Separate the manufacturer's warranty on materials from the company's own warranty on the work, and get both in writing.

  5. Ask who performs the work

Find out whether the crew are employees or subcontractors, and who supervises them on the day.

  6. Check recent local projects

Ask for addresses or photographs of comparable jobs finished nearby in the last year or two.

  7. Avoid high-pressure sales

A discount that expires today, or a knock on the door after a storm, is a reason to slow down rather than sign.

  8. Get everything in writing

Change orders, timeline and payment schedule included, before the first payment changes hands.

Questions to ask before hiring

0 of 10 asked

Red flags

  • No verifiable local business address or registration
  • Pressure to sign on the first visit
  • A demand for full payment up front
  • An offer to cover or waive your insurance deductible
  • Refusal to put warranty terms in writing
  • A quote that will not itemize scope

FAQ

Waterproofing companies in Hamilton FAQs

Who are the best waterproofing companies in Hamilton, Ontario?

Aquatech Waterproofing (5.0 from 121 Google reviews) and Omni Basement Systems (4.6 from 273) are the two that passed our checks, read October 21, 2026. Aquatech is a GTA-wide brand, while Omni has a staffed Hamilton office and named local team.

Do waterproofing contractors need a licence in Ontario?

No, Ontario has no provincial waterproofing licence. Ask for a current WSIB clearance certificate, proof of liability insurance, and check whether the City of Hamilton requires a permit for drain, sump or underpinning work.

Why does the Hamilton waterproofing list have only two companies?

Most highly rated Hamilton listings were Toronto or GTA brands with a template page, a suite or home address and no local staff, so they failed our address and local presence checks. We would rather show two honest entries than pad the list.
