Editorial Review

Our Take on Action Furnace, Inc.

Action Furnace's guarantees are unusually specific for the industry, and the nearly 8,500 reviews back up that this isn't just marketing copy. The Two-Year Trial Guarantee in particular is worth reading the fine print on, since a promise that strong usually comes with defined conditions.

Best for: Furnace replacements backed by a two-year money-back guarantee

  • Chad Stroich2.0Contacted Action Furnace for a furnace cleaning and servicing. Figured with winter coming it would give us "peace of mind." The technician arrived early and was very pleasant. Walked me through what he was going to do and started with a safety inspection. Like so many reviews here, they found cracks in the heat exchanger. They advised they would be unable to continue with the servicing as it had failed the inspection. I was given the option of replacing the heat exchanger ($3500) or replace the furnace ($7000+). As the furnace was 20 years old I fully expected something like this might happen. The other option is to leave it and wait for the cracks to get worse and to put your lives at risk. Not an option I was willing to take. I advised the technician we would go with a replacement. They put me in touch with their people and a Home Comfort sales person came by later in the day. The guy was nice but clearly a sales person. Talks fast, tells lies and works on the hard sales. I agreed to join their stupid club to get a $500 discount on the furnace but I'm pretty sure now they just increase the price by $500 and take advantage of the $300 I now have to pay over the next 2 years. The furnace installer was very nice and did a great job, or so I thought. When the City Inspector came to complete the inspection, they gave the work a condition approval. They advised that the furnace air intake was too close to the dryer vent and to contact Action Furnace. I sent my Home Comfort Advisor a text I was instructed to do if there was an issue and have heard nothing back. I contacted Action Furnace and was told someone would contact me....no one has. Granted its only been a few days, however its still poor customer service. A few things to note: - The Home Comfort Advisor told me the minimum requirement for high efficiency furnaces in Canada is 97%. It's not. it's 96%. Based on his comments I believed my new furnace was 97+% it's not. The actual efficiency of the new furnace is 96.1%. - No one advised me that Comfortec rebrands the furnace you are buying. I expected an Amana but got a Comfortec. No idea if it's what I thought I was buying but with a different name. - No one told me I had to arrange an inspection with the City of Calgary. They just sent me an email with a City permit number on it. Would I recommend Action Furnace? No. They are in my opinion untrustworthy and it's unfortunate you have to spend so much of your precious time to get multiple quotes, back ground checks and shopping around. Make sure you know 100% what you are getting and what is happening because so many "trust worthy companies" still like to take advantage.September 2026Google
  • Marc Genver Velasco5.0He answer all of my question. And if theres any problem with my furnace i want him to be our technicianSeptember 2026Google

About Action Furnace, Inc.

Action Furnace has been installing and repairing furnaces in Calgary since 1975 and has grown into the most-reviewed HVAC company checked for this ranking, with 8,538 Google reviews holding a 4.8 average as of September 2026. Few HVAC companies in the city, or arguably the province, have that combination of scale and review consistency.

What sets Action Furnace apart is how specific its guarantees are. The Fixed Right or It's Free guarantee covers furnace repairs that fail again within the same heating season. The No Surprise Guarantee locks in the quoted price as the final amount. The $500-plus-hotel guarantee pays for a hotel stay and $500 if a heating or cooling system is down more than 24 hours within the first year. An Apples to Apples Guarantee offers a $250 credit if a competitor's comparable quote beats theirs. And the Two-Year Trial Guarantee is the boldest of the group: a full refund with interest if a customer is unsatisfied after two years of using the system. These aren't vague marketing claims; they're specific, named policies a homeowner can hold the company to.

A Comfort Club membership at $14.95 a month covers seasonal tune-ups and a 20% discount on repairs. The company's reach extends beyond Calgary into Edmonton and Red Deer, which is part of how it supports guarantees this specific: real operational scale across three Alberta cities.

Action Furnace suits homeowners who want guarantees they can point to in writing rather than general assurances, and who are comfortable with a larger, multi-city operation. It's a slightly less personal experience than a small local shop, though the guarantee structure compensates for that. Before booking, get each guarantee's exact terms in writing and confirm the assigned technician's Alberta gasfitter certificate of qualification.
