Hastings Crescent sits in the older industrial belt southeast of downtown, close to Inglewood and the Bow, and it is a sensible base for a crew that spends its days crossing the city. Search listings show the business as colz electric electrician calgary se, and that southeast address is the main shop, with a second location listed in Covepark NE. Between the two, the stated coverage takes in Calgary proper plus Airdrie, Chestermere and Okotoks, which is roughly the commuter ring most Calgary trades work.

The range of work is broad for a company that still takes single-outlet service calls. On the residential side the website describes repairs and diagnostics, rewiring, electrical home inspections, lighting and fixture installation, ceiling and bathroom fans, dedicated appliance circuits, garage and 240V wiring, hot tub hookups, surge protection, and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. On the low-voltage side there is structured cabling, security cameras and audio-visual installation. There is also solar, home automation and Level 2 EV charger work, with the company saying it helps customers with rebates tied to electrical upgrades. Commercial work is presented as both repairs and ongoing maintenance, and the site names Circle K, a Toyota dealership and Swarovski locations among past clients, which fits a crew comfortable with retail fit-outs and multi-site service.

Panel and service upgrades get particular emphasis, and in Calgary that makes sense. A 1960s bungalow in Acadia or Fairview was wired for a fraction of the load a family now runs. Add a Level 2 charger in the garage, a heat pump or air conditioner, a hot tub on the deck and a basement suite, and a 60 or 100 amp service runs out of room quickly. Ask any electrician quoting a panel job three things: whether the existing service entrance and meter base can carry the new capacity, who pulls the permit and books the ENMAX disconnect and reconnect, and whether the quote includes the inspection. In Alberta, permits go through the accredited agency or the municipality and the work is inspected, so a clear answer on that is the fastest way to sort out a serious quote from a cheap one.

The round-the-clock hours are worth reading carefully. Published hours say open 24 hours every day of the week, and emergency electrician work is listed as a service, so the phone is meant to be answered overnight. What the profile does not list is the after-hours rate, whether there is a minimum call-out charge, or how a holiday evening is billed. Those numbers vary a lot between Calgary contractors, and they are a fair question to ask before anyone is dispatched at midnight for a tripping breaker that could wait until Tuesday.

Who it suits: owners of older inner-city and inner-suburb houses planning an upgrade rather than a patch, homeowners who want the charger, the cabling and the cameras done by one crew instead of three, and property or store managers who need a contractor that will come back for scheduled maintenance. Who it may not suit: someone hunting the lowest possible price for a small job, since a company running a 24/7 line and a named team of certified electricians carries overhead that shows up in the invoice. Large new-construction tract work also tends to go to volume wiring outfits rather than a service-led shop.

Compared with the alternatives in this market, colz electric electrician calgary se sits in the middle band: bigger and more structured than a one-van operator, smaller and more service-focused than the national franchise brands that advertise heavily in Calgary. The published review record supports that positioning, with a 4.9 rating from 295 reviews on the Google Business Profile as of September 28, 2026, and the company's own site quoting a nearly identical figure. Reviews of this kind tend to reflect scheduling and communication as much as technical work, so read a handful of the recent ones for the job type you have in mind.

Before booking, get the scope in writing, confirm the permit and inspection path, ask whether the electrician attending is the named certified tradesperson or a subcontractor, and ask what warranty covers labour as opposed to the manufacturer's coverage on a charger, panel or camera system. Those answers are usually more telling than the star rating.
