We’ve used this company twice and have been very happy both times. They were able to book us in within a day or two, communicated well, and did great work!

Prompt, explained what needed to be done, replaced rollers and were done in an hour. Old door was squeaking loudly, sounded like it was on its last legs and sometimes would only open part way. Works fine now. I am happy to recommend River City Doors.

We had River City Doors replace our old rusted garage door this past summer and they were absolutely fantastic to deal with. I gathered multiple quotes from other companies and River City had the most competitive option by far. Highly recommended and you won't be disappointed!

They were out to install a torsion spring double car garage on a property I manage 3 weeks ago.  They are a bit of a mixed bag to deal with.  I almost threw them off the property without the work completed.  In the end the work was completed but not without some caveats.  Initially i got 3 quotes, to replace both springs on the door as it’s better to do them in pairs when one goes.  Rivercity was $350, overhead doors was $395, and Well hung was $460.  Timeframe wise Rivercity could do later in the day, Overhead was out a week or two, and well hung was a few days. They did arrive later that afternoon as planned.  Before springs or tools were even unloaded they wanted to change the wheels on the door (which haven’t been an issue).  When that was declined, they were ok with that but then indicated that there would be no warranty on the work and it would be noted on the invoice (which it was).  The $350 is essentially a tail light warranty meaning once you can’t see their tailights on the truck your warranty is done.  Which is why I thought about just getting someone else that will stand behind the work.  However they were there and the others were a few days so I opted to have them still change the springs.  The interesting part was at no time was the cost of changing the wheels even discussed it was simply do it or warranty is void.  I couldn’t tell you if it was $20-$200 or $2000 as I was never told.  I was also told if they had to come back there would be another fee to come back, to which I thought I wouldn’t be inviting them back so yes a new company would have a fee. Overhead indicated the spring replacement was a tiny bit more then Riverside then said usually there are other things on older doors and sort of comes out to $400-$410.  I don’t if the other companies have the same warranty practices, maybe they change them at the same time or are included it in the quote, it could be that if it’s $20 then it’s still a better deal at riverside, at $200 they are way more then others.  I’m not sure if it’s a case of quote it cheap go out upsell it on site for another 40-50% or simply  making a suggestion at the time with a repair that made sense (it sure felt like the former in the moment) Didn’t know I needed to ask, now you do as you evaluate who to use. The work itself was done quickly and efficiently.  It took them about 30 mins, I’ve never had to change the springs in a property but seemed reasonable.  It was the quoted $350.  Thus far it’s still working after 3 weeks, no idea for how long, hopefully a some time given the originals were 20 years old.  As they left they indicated my opener would be an issue blaming it’s gears and the wheels (yet it’s not been in 20 years), it seemed like a final sort of confirmation of the tail light warranty without saying so. When i called them initially I thought I’d maybe found a garage company, but I’m not sure I’d use them again.  If the springs are working still in 10 years it was probably alright.  If they are broken next month then I should have called someone else.  Either way I’ll have more questions next go around as I take care of 6 doors of similar vintage in places, so it’s likely not the only spring coming up in the next bit.

Company Background

About River City Doors

River City Doors operates from 10381 60 Ave NW, in the Calgary Trail North area of south Edmonton, and the thing customers praise most is how smoothly a stressful breakdown gets handled. One reviewer with a sudden door failure described a professional first phone call, text messages with an arrival window, and a quote lower than the other one received. Another had a roller mechanism replaced the same day, within an hour of calling.

The company calls itself family-owned and operated and says it serves Edmonton and nearby Alberta cities. Its website lists repair work built around springs, cables, rollers and general service, plus full door replacement. Posted flat rates include $145 for minor service and repairs plus parts, $300 for one spring, $350 for two springs and $450 for a torsion spring conversion, with $85 for a pair of galvanized cables and $100 for a set of sealed bearing rollers as add-ons. Replacement jobs include new track, springs, weatherstripping and hardware, and doors come from Clopay, Northland and Trail Door. The site says installs are done by its own trained team, never subcontractors, and that it keeps a warehouse and showroom stocked with parts.

Reviews name Amardeep, who arranged a quick site visit, and Manpreet, who completed an installation with careful attention to detail. Amar is also thanked for helping a customer choose a door. A buyer named Greyson praised neat screws on the weather seal and tidy wiring, and noted that supply chain delays were handled without the estimate changing. The sample reads strongly positive, and the one friction point in the reviews is a materials delay, not a service complaint.

River City Doors holds 4.9 from 754 Google reviews, read October 24, 2026. It suits homeowners who want a posted price and a fast spring or roller repair, and anyone replacing a door who wants a local showroom. It suits less well anyone who needs evening or Sunday service, since the shop closes at 4 pm on weekdays, 2 pm on Saturday and all day Sunday. The website does not mention openers, an emergency line, financing or a written warranty, so ask about those directly. Alberta does not license garage door contractors provincially, so before booking, ask for a written quote, the spring cycle rating, and the warranty terms. Confirm the business with the City of Edmonton business licence lookup, the Alberta Corporate Registry, and a WCB Alberta clearance letter.
