Terrific repair service and customer service. I was able to get our garage door spring replaced the same day as I called. The tech gave me great advice on a few other small repairs to do to the doors and hinges since he was already at my property and the price was very reasonable for all the work done. GREAT company.

I called at 8 am and I was guaranteed a tech out by 2-4pm. I am very happy that the garage operator is no longer twisting or barely hanging on. Illia knew what he was doing and made the whole process easy from start to finish. I will definitely use Abe's door service again for my garage door needs. The only company to answer when I was in a bind.

Abe’s is fast and professional. The technician was very friendly and fixed a few things that we didn’t notice. Now our garage door works great just in time for winter.

Excellent service all around. Great office staff, listened intently and to make the time work perfectly. The installer (Isaac) was a very professional and well-spoken technician. Wish all companies cared about their customers like Abe’s.

Company Background

About Abe's Door Service Ltd.

Abe's Door Service Ltd. comes to this ranking with 721 Google reviews averaging 4.9 stars and a shop at 3828 53 Ave NW, in the Pylypow Industrial area of southeast Edmonton. Abe Hiebert started the business in 1979, and his grandson Travis Mair, who has worked there for 25 years, took over as owner in 2020. The company calls itself a third-generation family operation, and the review history backs up the hands-on feel.

Recent reviewers describe fast, practical repairs. Brett called after hours with cables off the drums, and Jason rewound them and rebalanced the door within about an hour and a half. Scott had a 35-year-old door with a broken torsion spring, heard back from Ashley early the next morning, and Blake replaced both springs and a roller that afternoon. Another reviewer noted that trucks carry a full stock of parts, billing was itemized for labour and parts, and a complimentary general service followed the repair. That same reviewer mentioned a couple of minor misses after the first visit, which the company came back to fix promptly.

The services page covers residential repair, spring replacement, operator and opener installation, remotes and keypads, preventative maintenance and new door installation. The commercial side includes loading dock doors, rolling steel grilles, parkades and fire doors, and a reviewer used the company for door closers and an exterior door at a local curling club. The website lists service packages for homeowners, with the basic package at $234 plus GST. Hours on Google read open 24 hours, while the website shows regular hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with on-call coverage after hours and on weekends.

The site shows membership in the International Door Association, the Canadian Door Institute and the Alberta Construction Safety Association, plus a COR safety certificate. Alberta does not license garage door contractors provincially, so confirm the business with the City of Edmonton business licence lookup, the Alberta Corporate Registry and a WCB Alberta clearance letter.

This company suits homeowners who want quick emergency repairs and property managers who need commercial overhead door support. It suits shoppers hunting for the lowest price on a basic door swap less well, since the shop positions itself on service depth. Before booking, ask for a written quote, the cycle rating of any springs, the warranty terms in writing, and proof of WCB coverage. 4.9 from 721 Google reviews, read October 24, 2026.
