Editorial Review

Our Take on Smith Bros. Floors Ltd.

A hardwood-only shop with more than a century in Calgary and a stated lifetime workmanship guarantee. The narrow focus is the draw, and also the limit if you want carpet or vinyl.

We had a very good experience with Smith Bros. Every single person we dealt with was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. Many of the people who came to work on our project are co-owners of the company and they really cared and were flexible in timelines. Would highly recommend Smith Bros.

Every morning I pass by your store and end up with the largest smile. Your joke board sets the tone for my day. Thank you!
(Haven’t had floors installed - but if I ever need them I will call these guys.)

We needed a small order , 280 sq ft , for our home to match some existing hardwood and Smith bros was excellent to deal with. I brought in a sample of the existing hardwood and they were able to find just what we were looking for. Rod was fantastic to deal with and made the whole process very seamless from ordering to pickup. They had the best prices in town for Mirage hardwood.
Would highly recommend!

I’d like to say that these fellas are top notch.
Very professional and efficient. Our floors are amazing and so much better then carpet
From the salesperson right down to the installers and finishing persons, I would highly recommend this company if you’re considering a new install. Big Thanks for recognizing our vision and making it happen.

This was the fourth time I’ve had my floors done over the years, and I can honestly say I have never had such an incredible experience as I did with Smith Bros Flooring. From start to finish, the entire team was unbelievable and I would give them 1000%.

Lyn was fantastic to work with and helped guide us through everything. The products they use are phenomenal and you can truly see and feel the quality difference. Winston and Gary are absolute craftsmen. The workmanship and attention to detail were amazing, and I could not be happier with the final result.

One thing I noticed right away is how much cleaner the floors look day to day. My grandkids used to leave footprints everywhere on our old floors, but now they can run around barefoot and I’m not constantly seeing marks all over the floor.

Interestingly, Smith Bros Flooring also did flooring for us about 25 years ago when we lived in Strathcona. Over the years we tried a few other flooring companies, but after this experience I can confidently say we will only use Smith Bros Flooring moving forward. I’ve already recommended them to my kids as well.

Company Background

About Smith Bros. Floors Ltd.

Smith Bros. Floors Ltd. is a Calgary hardwood flooring company that dates to 1918. The site traces the business to founder Charles Smith, who came west by train, and says ownership has since passed through three generations of the family. That history matters in a trade where a floor is expected to last decades and the firm that laid it should still be around to stand behind it. The company states a lifetime workmanship guarantee.

The shop and showroom are at 7128 Fairmount Drive SE in the Fairview Industrial area, with weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The contact form lists new floor installation, supply and install of pre-finished floors, supply and install of onsite-finished floors, sanding and finishing of existing floors and cash and carry wood products. This is a hardwood house. Carpet, vinyl plank and tile are not on its service list.

Reviewers name Rod, Lyn and Mark on the sales side and praise the installers and finishers for tidy, on-time work. Cara wrote that after a leaking dishwasher damaged her hardwood, the team steered her toward refinishing rather than a full tear-out. Another customer matched 280 square feet of new wood to an existing floor by bringing in a sample. 4.7 from 109 Google reviews, read November 1, 2026. No email address is published on the site.

It suits owners of older Calgary homes with hardwood to repair, extend or refinish, and anyone who wants a long-established local firm. It suits less well a buyer who wants carpet or vinyl from the same crew. Before booking, ask for a written quote that separates material, installation and finishing, ask how the lifetime workmanship guarantee is documented, and check the contractor's business licence with the City of Calgary.
