Our Take on Wedgeworth Plumbing
A 4.9 average across 646 Google reviews, read on September 4, 2026, is the kind of record that is hard to fake, and nearly five decades of trading suggests the business has survived several Houston construction booms and busts. The service list is broad enough that most residential jobs land inside it. The main thing to check is emergency coverage, because published hours stop at 7 PM and Sunday is closed.

- Julia “J4j” E5.0Today I received the most fantastic service I have ever experienced from a plumbing company. I used Wedgeworth Plumbing (who I used before many years ago), and while I knew they would be reliable, I was nervous due to bad experiences recently with service companies. I had 7 actual plumbing issues that needed to be addressed or fixed. Dee and James came to my house early in the morning. Both were extremely polite, neat, and accommodating with regard to my MANY pets and cluttered house. Dee gave me estimates and opinions on all of these issues, with one being fixed with only instructions from Dee! Both of these plumbers were experienced and very knowledgeable because I had LOTS of questions as to why things broke or were not working right, and both of them had answers and demonstrations, and went above and beyond in efficiently and expertly fixing the problems. Two clogs cleared, a faucet replaced, and an outside spigot bib replaced, and a knob replaced, and guest bath shower knobs replaced with new ones so that everything worked perfectly. I had been living for a while with problematic plumbing that was not functioning well and forgot how nice it was to have things work like brand new plumbing. The icing on the cake was the new kitchen faucet with a sprayer that I did not have for the past 14 years, and this made me feel like a QUEEN! These two guys were absolutely amazing, respectful of my budget and concerns, did not try to upsell or convince me that I NEEDED expensive work, and explained everything in laymens terms. They left no trace when they were finished, no mess, and had used covers on their shoes to keep the floors free of mud or dirt. This company and its plumbers are a breath of fresh air when integrity seems to be hard to find these days. I will not hesitate to use them again and cannot recommend them more highly.May 2026Google

- Steven Bridges5.0We hired Wedgeworth plumbing to replace our sewer line. TJ was very helpful and communicative. His crew quickly replaced the line and once the city inspector was able to make it out to approve the changes his crew was able to promptly fill in the trench. My wife and I are very happy with their work and will definitely use Wedgeworth for any future plumbing needs.April 2026Google

- Penny Remick5.0This is our third time using Wedgeworth plumbing and they have always been great! Their plumbers are knowledgable, trustworthy and kind. They always wear paper shoes inside so they don't track mud into the house. They spend time explaining what is wrong, how they are going to fix it, and the cost.February 2026Google

About Wedgeworth Plumbing
Houston asks a lot of a plumber. Clay soil that swells and shrinks with the seasons puts steady pressure on water lines under slabs, cast iron drains inside the Loop have been in the ground since the middle of the last century, and hard municipal water shortens the life of a tank water heater faster than the manufacturer's brochure suggests. A company that has been trading since 1978, as this one says it has, will have seen several full cycles of that.
The service list is wide rather than specialised. Water heater repair and replacement is the everyday bread and butter, including tankless conversions, which in Houston usually means sorting out gas line capacity and venting before anyone talks about the unit itself. Drain and toilet clogs, hydro jetting for lines that keep coming back, garbage disposal replacement, shower installation and bathroom remodel rough-in all appear. So does the heavier end: sewer repair and full sewer replacement, slab leak detection, repiping, new gas lines, water filtration systems, and A/C condensate drain clearing, which is its own small Houston speciality given how many months of the year an air handler runs and how easily a primary condensate line silts up and floods a ceiling.
Wedgeworth Plumbing lists a service area that stretches a long way. North and west it covers the Heights, Hunters Creek Village, Piney Point Village, Bunker Hill, Hedwig Village, West University Place and Bellaire. South and east it reaches Webster, Seabrook, Kemah, League City and Clear Lake Shores. That is a meaningful spread, and it is worth confirming when you call that your address falls inside it and what the travel implications are for a same-day visit. The shop address on Ruland Road sits just off Highway 290 near Spring Branch, which is a sensible enough dispatch point for the west side but a fair drive from the bay communities.
On the customer experience, the company says it quotes work up front rather than billing by the hour as it goes, and that it offers strong warranties. Both claims are worth pinning down in writing before work starts, particularly the warranty term on parts against the term on labour, since those often differ. It also says it only employs experienced technicians. If that matters to you, ask who specifically is coming and whether the responsible master plumber's licence number is on the estimate. Every plumbing company operating in Texas works under a licensed master plumber registered with the state board, and the number should be easy to produce.
The review record is the strongest single piece of evidence here. Its Google Business Profile carried a 4.9 rating from 646 reviews when checked on September 4, 2026. Volume at that level, held at that average, generally points to consistent crews rather than a couple of good months. The reviews that go into detail tend to describe technicians explaining options rather than pushing a full replacement, which is the specific thing homeowners worry about with sewer and repipe quotes, where the gap between a spot repair and a whole-line replacement can run into five figures.
Who it suits: homeowners in the western villages, the Heights and inside the Loop with older cast iron or galvanised pipe, anyone weighing up a repipe or a sewer replacement and wanting a second opinion, and people planning a bathroom remodel who need the plumbing side handled properly rather than left to a general contractor's subcontractor. Commercial work is listed too, so small retail and restaurant operators are in scope.
Who it suits less well: anyone needing a plumber at two in the morning. Published hours run 7:30 AM to 7 PM Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Saturday, and Sunday is closed. The website does not describe a 24-hour emergency line, so if a line bursts overnight you should call and ask rather than assume. The evening finish is generous by trade standards and covers most after-work appointments, but it is not round the clock.
Before you book, ask three things separately: whether the quote is fixed or an estimate, whether a City of Houston permit is required for the job and who pulls it, and what happens to the price if the crew opens a wall or a slab and finds worse than expected. On sewer work, ask for camera footage before and after. Wedgeworth Plumbing competes in a Houston market crowded with both national franchises and one-truck operators, and it sits in the middle ground: long-established, family-named, with a real shop and a big review file behind it.

Wedgeworth Plumbing FAQs
What areas of Houston does Wedgeworth Plumbing cover?
Its website lists the Heights, Bellaire, West University Place, Hunters Creek Village, Piney Point Village, Bunker Hill, Hedwig Village and greater Houston, plus Webster, Seabrook, Kemah, League City and Clear Lake Shores to the south. The shop address is on Ruland Road near Spring Branch in west Houston. Given the spread, it is worth confirming coverage and same-day availability for your specific address when you call.
Is there an after-hours or emergency plumber available?
Published hours are 7:30 AM to 7 PM Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Saturday, and closed Sunday. The website does not advertise a 24-hour emergency line, so for an overnight burst pipe you should ring and ask directly rather than assume someone is on call. The 7 PM weekday finish does cover most after-work appointments.
How is Wedgeworth Plumbing rated?
Its Google Business Profile showed 4.9 stars from 646 reviews when read on September 4, 2026. That is a substantial review count for a single-location plumbing company, and holding a 4.9 across that many jobs generally indicates consistency rather than a short good run. It also links to Yelp and BBB profiles if you want to cross-check.
Do they give a price before starting work?
The company says on its website that it prices work up front so customers are not surprised later. Specific prices are not published, which is normal for plumbing, since the job scope drives the number. Ask whether what you are given is a fixed quote or an estimate, and what happens to the figure if the crew opens a wall or breaks slab and finds more damage than expected.
Can they handle a slab leak or a full repipe?
Yes, both are on the service list, along with leak detection, sewer repair and sewer replacement. Slab leaks are common in Houston because expansive clay soil moves with wet and dry cycles and stresses lines running under the foundation. For a repipe quote, ask whether the plan runs new lines overhead through the attic or reroutes under the slab, since that choice affects cost, disruption and future access.
How long has the company been in business?
Since 1978, according to its own website, which puts it close to five decades in the Houston market. Longevity matters in plumbing mainly because warranties are only as good as the company still being around to honour them, and because a long-running shop has usually worked on the same neighbourhoods and pipe materials repeatedly.
Do they do commercial plumbing as well as homes?
Commercial plumbing is listed as a service category, alongside residential repairs and remodels. The site does not detail the size or type of commercial contracts taken on, so a restaurant, retail unit or small office should describe the job and ask directly whether it fits their scheduling and crew capacity.
Is Wedgeworth Plumbing licensed and insured?
We have no credential records on file for this company yet. Ask for the certificate directly from the insurer before booking work.
What areas does Wedgeworth Plumbing serve?
Houston. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.
Does Wedgeworth Plumbing offer emergency service?
Emergency availability is not listed for this company. If you need an urgent call-out, check the ranking for companies that do list it.
What warranty do they offer?
Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.
