Editorial Review
Our Take on A-OK LOCKSMITHS
A small father and son outfit with an unusually strong Google record, 5.0 from 823 reviews, and most of it names Steve. The firm quote and direct phone answer are the draw. Check weekend availability, because Google and the website disagree on Sundays.

Company Background
About A-OK LOCKSMITHS
Leslieville takes its name from George Leslie's nursery, and the east end around Eastern Avenue has stayed a neighbourhood of small trades ever since, which is where A-OK LOCKSMITHS has been based since 1990. It is a family business led by father and son Peter and Steve. Peter started working with locks in 1990 and taught Steve the trade, and the two now run a mobile service out of 410 Eastern Ave that reaches Toronto, East York, Scarborough, North York, Danforth, Yorkville and Summerhill, with Vaughan, Markham, Pickering and Richmond Hill also listed. The Eastern Avenue address is by appointment only, so call or text first.
The work covers deadbolt installation with pick and bump resistant cylinders, rekeying for homes and businesses with masterkeying available, lockouts, broken key removal, on-site key cutting including condo and mailbox keys, safe opening and combination changes, and storefront hardware such as panic bars, door closers and folding security gates. The high-security lines named on the site are Medeco, Scorpion and Schlage, and the company says each lock carries a warranty from six months to three years. The site also promises a firm price before the job starts and 15 percent off for seniors. Calls are answered by a locksmith rather than a dispatch service, which is unusual in a trade full of call centres.
Reviewers keep coming back to Steve. One said he replaced a specialized cylinder he already had on hand, another said he changed over their locks to a single key and passed along handy tips, and a third said he met them at the shop within five minutes of a call. A detail worth knowing: Google lists Sunday as closed while the website says mobile service runs seven days, so confirm before counting on a weekend visit. A-OK LOCKSMITHS holds 5.0 from 823 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28.
This suits east end and downtown homeowners, condo owners and small shops that want a named locksmith and a quoted price. It suits less well anyone who needs smart lock installation or a guaranteed overnight storefront call-out, since neither is listed. Before booking, ask for a written quote or service-call fee, ask to see ID and a marked vehicle, confirm the lockout will be non-destructive, ask about warranty on parts and labour, and ask for the business registration and proof of insurance, since Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence.

A-OK LOCKSMITHS FAQs
Do locksmiths in Toronto need a licence, and what should I ask A-OK LOCKSMITHS?
Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence, so the check is on you. Ask A-OK LOCKSMITHS for the business registration, proof of insurance and a written quote before work starts. The company's website publishes no licence or insurance numbers, but it does say it quotes a firm price before the job and that new locks carry warranties from 6 months to 3 years.
What are A-OK LOCKSMITHS hours, and do they do emergency lockouts?
Google lists A-OK LOCKSMITHS open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 9 PM, and closed Sunday. The website says mobile service runs seven days a week, so call or text (416) 467-0000 to confirm a Sunday visit. Emergency lock openings and deadbolt installation are the company's stated specialties, and calls are answered by a locksmith rather than a dispatch service.
