Our Take on Acme Lock & Key Toronto
A genuine bricks-and-mortar key shop with six decades of stated history and a 4.9 rating across 803 reviews. Pick it for copies, fobs, furniture keys and parts, and look elsewhere for after-hours lockouts or rekeying visits, which its site does not mention.

Company Background
About Acme Lock & Key Toronto
Acme Lock & Key Toronto is a key-cutting shop on Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough, and the storefront is the point of the business. Walk in with a worn house key, a filing cabinet key, a padlock key or an access fob, and the counter staff identify the blank from a stock of more than 5,000 and cut it while you wait. The company says it has been doing this since 1965, and its logo carries the same date.
The range goes well past ordinary house keys. The shop duplicates keys for Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, Medeco, Assa and Baldwin locks among many other makes, clones apartment, condo and office access cards and fobs on site, copies chip keys for cars, and stocks padlocks, cylinders, cores and parts for office furniture, including older and discontinued lines. It also sells commercial door hardware. Customers who cannot visit can email a photo of the key to sales@keyscut.ca for identification and a price, or order from the online store.
Reviews read like a counter operation. Thomas and Richard are named by customers for quick, courteous help, one reviewer paid $9.50 per house key copy and was out in under a minute, and two people with lost filing cabinet keys had replacements cut within minutes. The honest negative is shipping: one customer waited about two weeks for keys to reach Hamilton, with no tracking. Acme Lock & Key Toronto holds 4.9 from 803 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, closed weekends, so this is not a late-night rescue number. The site does not describe lockout response, rekeying or lock installation visits, and it states no insurance, bonding or trade association membership.
It suits people who need copies, replacement keys for furniture and cabinets, fobs, padlocks or hard-to-find blanks, and businesses and property managers who want parts and hardware over the counter. It suits less well anyone locked out after hours or wanting a technician at the door. Before booking or ordering, ask for the business registration, proof of insurance and a written quote, since Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence. Ask for the price per key before cutting, whether any lockout work is non-destructive, whether a technician arrives with ID in a marked vehicle, and what warranty covers parts and labour.

Acme Lock & Key Toronto FAQs
Does Toronto require a locksmith licence, and what should I ask Acme Lock & Key Toronto?
Ontario has no provincial locksmith licence, so ask for the business registration, proof of insurance and a written quote. Acme Lock & Key Toronto states no licence, insurance or trade association membership on its website, so request those details when you call 416-699-9999 or visit 2077 Lawrence Ave E. The company says it has operated since 1965 and shows a Consumer Choice award on its site.
What are the hours for Acme Lock & Key Toronto, and is there emergency service?
The shop is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Its website does not advertise emergency or after-hours call-outs, so it is not the right choice for a lockout at night. For key copies, fobs and parts, you can walk in at 2077 Lawrence Ave E in Scarborough or email a photo of the key to sales@keyscut.ca.
Can Acme Lock & Key Toronto copy access fobs and ship keys?
Yes to both. The shop clones most apartment, condo and office building access cards and fobs at the counter with no appointment, and it sells keys through an online store at keyscut.ca. Email a clear photo of the key to sales@keyscut.ca for identification and a price. One customer reported about two weeks for delivery to Hamilton without tracking, so allow time if you order by mail.
