Our Take on Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling
The combination worth paying attention to here is scale plus trade breadth: enough crew to replace a whole cast iron system in a triple decker inside three days, plus real boiler competence, which is rarer than it should be around Boston. A 4.8 average across 481 Google reviews is a substantial sample rather than a handful of friendly notes. Get the after-hours rate and the permit responsibility confirmed verbally before dispatch, and this is a sensible call for both emergencies and planned replacement work.

- The Gamer1.0VERY DISAPPOINTING AND UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE. I do not recommend this plumbing service. They charged approximately $800 for what was essentially a one-hour job, including a $200 dispatch fee and another $200 emergency-service fee. The labor charges also appeared to add $100–$200 for individual portions of the work. In my opinion, the pricing was excessive and unreasonable, particularly given that the situation was urgent. This experience left me feeling that they take advantage of customers who are in an emergency and need immediate help. If you do not question the invoice, you may end up paying significantly more than you should. I strongly recommend getting a detailed estimate and questioning every charge before authorizing work. I would never use this company again. Their pricing practices deserve to be reviewed by the BBB.September 2026Google

Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. A company will often travel beyond the areas listed here for a large job and decline a small one at the same distance, so confirm your address before scheduling.
About Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling
Plumbing and heating in this part of Massachusetts are effectively one trade, and this company is set up that way. The work described on its own site spans leak repair, drain cleaning, pipe replacement, boiler and water heater service, air conditioning, and electrical, which means a single visit can cover a dripping supply line and a boiler that never quite reached temperature last winter. Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling operates from 244 Willard St in Quincy, a practical base for reaching Dorchester, Milton, Braintree, Weymouth and the rest of the South Shore, as well as running north into the city itself.
The range of jobs matters more here than in newer markets. Housing stock across Boston and the inner suburbs includes a great many triple deckers and two-families built between the 1890s and the 1930s, and their plumbing tends to be a layered history: cast iron drain stacks with rust holes at the hubs, galvanized supply lines choked down to a pencil-width bore, copper spliced in by three different plumbers over forty years. Reviews published on the company's site describe exactly that kind of project, including a full drain and water line replacement in a triple decker done over three days with a large crew. That is a different capability from a one-van operation. If your job is a repipe, a stack replacement or a sewer lateral that has failed, having six people on site is what shortens the timeline.
Smaller work is clearly part of the mix too. Fixture replacements, leaky toilets that have started to show on a ceiling below, water heater swaps, high incoming water pressure and the expansion tanks that go with it. Boston's municipal pressure varies considerably by neighbourhood and elevation, and homes fed at the high end need a working pressure-reducing valve and an intact expansion tank or fixtures and heaters wear out early. It is a reasonable thing to ask about if your supply feels forceful.
Heating deserves its own note. Most older buildings in the area run hot water or steam boilers, and the difference between a plumber who services boilers and one who avoids them is significant in January. Because the Google Business Profile lists the company as an HVAC contractor, and because its own materials cover boilers, water tanks, exhaust venting and cooling, it reads as a genuine dual-trade shop rather than a plumber who subcontracts the heat. Cooling promotions are advertised from ninety-nine dollars on a limited-time basis, which is a starting figure for a promoted service rather than a quote for a system.
On how they work day to day, the pattern in customer accounts is consistent enough to be useful: appointments booked within days rather than weeks, technicians named in advance by text, options presented at more than one price point, drop cloths and cleanup at the end. Several reviewers describe relationships spanning ten to sixteen years and multiple properties, which tends to happen with landlords and small contractors rather than one-time callers.
Who it suits less well: anyone who wants a written flat-rate menu before anyone looks at the job, or who prefers a single dedicated technician on every visit. A shop with this many crews will send different people. And while Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling publishes 24-hour availability, overnight and holiday work in this trade normally carries a call-out premium, so confirm the after-hours rate on the phone before agreeing to a 2am dispatch.
Worth asking before you hire, whoever you use in this market. Ask whether the visit is diagnostic-only or includes a repair allowance. Ask who pulls the permit and schedules the inspection, since Boston and most surrounding towns require permits for water heaters, gas work, boiler replacement and drain alterations, and the licensed plumber should be the one filing. Ask for the licence number and current insurance in writing if a large project is involved. On sewer work, ask whether a camera inspection is included and whether you receive the footage, because a collapsed lateral under a South Shore front yard is an excavation decision, not a guess.
Two different phone numbers appear publicly, (617) 296-8600 on the Google listing and (617) 644-0012 on the website, which also invites text messages. Facebook and Instagram are both linked. For a mid-sized shop that can handle both a Saturday night burst pipe and a planned stack replacement, the review volume alone puts it in serious consideration.

Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling FAQs
Is Boston Budget Plumbing really open 24 hours?
Its published hours list open 24 hours, Monday through Sunday, and the company describes itself as a 24/7 plumbing and HVAC operation. As with any trade, ask on the call whether an overnight, weekend or holiday visit carries a premium rate, since after-hours pricing is standard in plumbing and is not published on the site.
What areas do they cover?
Greater Boston and the South Shore, according to the company's own materials. The shop is at 244 Willard St in Quincy, which puts Dorchester, Milton, Braintree, Weymouth and Randolph within a short run, and reviewers mention work in Winthrop and Brockton as well. Confirm coverage for your specific town when you book.
How good are the reviews?
The Google Business Profile shows 4.8 from 481 reviews, read on September 4, 2026. That is a large sample for a local plumbing and HVAC shop. Recurring themes in published customer comments include quick scheduling, technicians identified by name before arrival, clear pricing explanations and thorough cleanup.
Do they handle boilers as well as plumbing?
Yes. The Google listing categorises the business as an HVAC contractor, and its own site covers heating and cooling alongside plumbing. Customer accounts describe boiler tune-ups, boiler replacement in a rental property and venting upgrades, which matters in an area where most older buildings run hot water or steam heat.
Can they replace old cast iron and galvanized pipes in a triple decker?
That kind of project appears directly in customer accounts on the company's site, including a full drain and water line replacement in a triple decker completed in about three days with a crew of six. For work at that scale, ask for a written scope, confirm who files the plumbing permit with your city or town, and check how debris removal is handled.
What does the cooling special from $99 include?
The website advertises limited-time cooling specials starting at ninety-nine dollars, which reads as a starting price for a promoted service rather than a quote for equipment or installation. Ask what the figure covers, what falls outside it, and whether the visit fee applies toward any repair.
How do I get a price before work starts?
Ask for an on-site quote before authorising the job. Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling does not publish a rate card, and reviewers describe being given options at more than one price so they could choose. For anything larger than a fixture swap, get the scope and the figure in writing.
Is Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling licensed and insured?
We have no credential records on file for this company yet. Ask for the certificate directly from the insurer before booking work.
What areas does Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling serve?
Boston, Somerville, Chelsea, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Brookline, Quincy. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.
Does Boston Budget Plumbing Heating and Cooling offer emergency service?
Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.
What warranty do they offer?
Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.
How was this profile built?
Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.
Can a business pay to improve its profile?
A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
