Editorial Review
Our Take on Dundas Lock & Key Inc
Dundas Lock & Key is the kind of walk-in shop that is getting harder to find: a family business with a real storefront, three full-time locksmiths and a Medeco dealership. Reviewers praise rekeying and key work. The limited posted hours and no evening or weekend service are the trade-off.

Company Background
About Dundas Lock & Key Inc
Dundas Lock & Key Inc is a family-run locksmith shop at 178 King St W in downtown Dundas, the old town that now sits inside the City of Hamilton. A photo of the storefront shows a brick house with a Dundas Lock & Key sign and a white company van out front, which is about as far from a call-centre operation as a locksmith gets. The company says it has served Dundas, Hamilton, Ancaster and Flamborough for over 35 years, with three full-time locksmiths on staff.
The shop handles the usual locksmith jobs: cutting keys, making keys for locks that have none, rekeying and repairing locks. It works on residential, commercial, industrial and automotive locks and door hardware, either at the counter or on a mobile call. It also sells deadbolts, handles, door closers and panic exit devices, and lists Medeco, Schlage, Emtek, LCN, Von Duprin, Yale and Sargent among its brands. Custom window bars, door grills and gates are available for homes and businesses. Dundas Lock & Key is an authorized Medeco dealer, which matters to homeowners who want a restricted keyway for tighter key control.
Google reviewers describe rekeying a batch of locks with quick turnaround, a keyed-alike job delivered to an office, a new touchpad lockset, and a same-day repair at a fair price. Robert, who needed an obscure key cut, said staff spent a lot of time on it, and added that the counter space is cramped with door hardware and that you should call before you go. A testimonial on the company's own site names Scott as the locksmith who re-pinned a front door lock. The rating is 4.7 from 111 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28.
The hours need a close look. Google lists Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, while the company's website shows store and mobile hours of only 9:00 AM to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. One customer on the site wished for evening or weekend availability. Phone ahead.
This shop suits homeowners and small businesses in Dundas, Ancaster and west Hamilton who want rekeying, key cutting, hardware or a Medeco system from a local counter. It suits less well anyone who needs a lockout at night or on a weekend. Before booking, ask for a quote or service-call fee up front, whether the technician arrives in a marked vehicle with ID, whether a lockout can be opened without drilling, and what warranty covers parts and labour.
