Company Background
About Overhead Door Company of Calgary
Overhead Door Company of Calgary is part of a garage door business that its website dates to 1975, when founder Don Donison built the first location in Lethbridge and joined the Overhead Door family. The site does not say when the Calgary shop opened, so the 1975 date belongs to the company as a whole. Today Overhead Door Company of Calgary works from 11133 40 St SE, Bay 6, in the East Shepard Industrial area, and shares its website with the Lethbridge and Cranbrook branches, which the company says employ more than 40 people in total.
The company is an Overhead Door distributor and sells the brand's residential lines, including Thermacore insulated, Courtyard, Impression and Envy collections, plus commercial sectional, rolling and high-speed doors, openers, remotes and parts. Its service pages cover repair, spring replacement, planned maintenance, hail damage replacements and new installations. The site states that technicians are CDI-trained, that the company holds IDA Accredited Door Dealer status, and that emergency and same day service runs 24/7. Free estimates are offered through its contact form. The Calgary page lists service to Calgary, Crowfoot, Cochrane and west, Okotoks and south, Airdrie and north, and Strathmore and east.
Reviews describe the work more concretely than the website does. Mike and Andres installed two replacement doors for one homeowner, with Mike phoning that morning and the crew arriving about 15 minutes early. Omar installed a door for a customer after the August hailstorm and was called punctual and knowledgeable. Grant and Elwin helped a family choose a door in the sales office, and Kabneet walked a hesitant customer through the options at the shop. Another reviewer said Mike explained a yearly maintenance visit step by step. In the five reviews we read, none was negative. The fair caution is the score itself: 4.5 from 120 Google reviews, read October 24, 2026, is good but lower than some competitors on this list.
It suits homeowners replacing a door, anyone with storm damage, and commercial properties that want a manufacturer-backed dealer with after-hours coverage. It suits less well someone who wants the cheapest quick spring swap from a small owner-operator. Before booking, ask for a written quote, the spring cycle rating, the warranty terms in writing, and which technician will attend. Alberta does not license garage door contractors provincially, so confirm the business with the City of Calgary business licence lookup, the Alberta Corporate Registry, and a WCB Alberta clearance letter.

Calgary. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.
