Editorial Review

Our Take on Ram Overhead Doors Ottawa

Ram Overhead Doors Ottawa pairs a 1984 service history with a real showroom on Bantree Street, and its commercial customer base is unusual for a residential ranking. Reviews praise response time and named technicians, with one note that the final bill ran above expectations. A good pick for east Ottawa homes and for businesses wanting a maintenance contract.

Ram Doors did a terrible garage door installation for our condo association block in 2024 and ever since then, we've had issues NON-STOP and had to pay them for the repairs (conveniently). They have acknowledged that their installation was problematic and tried to troubleshoot what went wrong from potentially needing a new operator to new rails and even a different garage door. Bottom line is that it has been over 2 years without Ram Doors rectifying the issue while residents suffer from repeated issues with the garage door. I would not recommend using this company for any garage door consultation, repairs, or installation and definitely feel that their work has been low quality.

Garaga hard product is great. Installer was a dream. However communications and sales were a nightmare. Timelines were under stated, sales person ordered the wrong size door, waiting weeks longer for the next door to arrive. Had to call and email multiple times to get updates. Happy with the door, so would recommend looking to a company that actually works with their clients, doesn’t ignore them. Many other Garaga sellers in Ottawa.

The whole process wan’t easy. The company needs improvement on the communication side between the installation, the billing, the contractors, the client… the door is nice but it was a challenging experience all along the way! Wouldn’t recommend it a friend.

Jason showed up today to fix a couple of delamination bubbles in my garage door. He is knowledgeable, courteous and a master of his trade. Hang on to him. He's a keeper.

The order and install was good. A glass was cracked and it was repaired quickly. The issue we had was the flashing installed was damaged from day 1. The door installer took photos and said someone would be in touch to repair it because it was poorly installed. After 2 different people, multiple calls, texts, emails, nothing...The guy kept texting me saying he will be dropping by to take a look and never showed. They were very diligent about following up about the money owed. I guess we should not have paid them the full amount. Been almost 6 months and still no contact and the issue never resolved. Door is great and they were professional. After service is very poor and disappointing.

Company Background

About Ram Overhead Doors Ottawa

Ram Overhead Doors Ottawa operates from 2181 Bantree Street in the east Ottawa industrial park near Gloucester, which explains why commercial and industrial work sits next to its home business. The company states it has served the area since 1984, joined the Garaga Experts dealer network in 1996 and became part of the S&S Bolton Group in 2009. In 2023 it adopted a new brand image tied to a partnership with Garaga, the Canadian manufacturer, so new residential doors are mostly Garaga products and openers lean toward LiftMaster.

Repairs cover broken springs, cables, rollers, bent tracks, section replacement, safety inspections and noisy doors. The site says technicians fix any brand of door or opener, and lists Amarr, Clopay, CHI, Wayne-Dalton, Raynor, Chamberlain, Genie and others. It also sells commercial overhead doors, dock equipment and gate operators, and offers maintenance and emergency contracts for businesses. Emergency service is advertised as available 24 hours a day by phone, although the showroom runs Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. The design centre can show a new door on a photo of your house.

Reviewers describe fast scheduling and careful installs. Bryson fixed an opener the same day he was called, Jackie helped one couple choose a door, Derek handled their installation, and Jason and Carl impressed another customer with quick response. One homeowner said the manufacturer's bubbling problem on new doors was sorted out through the warranty process. The fair criticism comes from Scott, who found the final cost ran 10 to 15 percent above what he expected.

Ram Overhead Doors Ottawa has 4.5 stars from 199 Google reviews, read October 25, 2026. It suits east Ottawa homeowners replacing a door, facility managers who want a service contract, and anyone who wants to see doors in person before buying. It suits less well people who want a weekend appointment or a price over the phone for a custom job. Before booking, ask for a written quote that lists all parts and labour, the spring cycle rating, warranty terms in writing, and the phone number you should use, since the website and Google list different ones. Ontario does not license garage door contractors provincially, so check the Ontario Business Registry, a WSIB clearance certificate and any City of Ottawa business licence.
