- Molly Schoen5.0Leaky forced air A/C in tenants home. Panicked for fast solution at any cost e.g. repair or replace, as tenants must be comfortable/ Early morning call to Ray N. Welter and they sent someone at a time that worked for me and my tenant. Trustworthy, yechnician Ben said the hose needed replacing. Out of the woodwork for a song and never dealt with AI once during my search, unlike all the other Companies I called that HERO is making part of their HERO "family." (Their fromage word, not mine.) Ray N. Welter: Skilled techs, up to date technologies, not out to gouge, and you don't have to deal with AI at aty point. You talk to people... who help you solve your ac/heating problems. Business 101 says you can have two of the following three but never all three: 1. Good 2. Fast 3. reasonable (cost). I'd argue that with Ray N. Welter I got all three today. Thank you.September 2026Google

- Patricia Gerritsen1.0I had a TRANE Central Air Conditioner installed yesterday. The Installer arrived on time. He said it would take him 4 hours to install the air conditioner. I left him alone for 3 1/2 hours. I wanted to see how it was going. I went outside to look at my new air conditioner. I noticed scratches on it. I told the installer, he ignored me. I stood outside to watch him. I started to ask a few questions, he did not answer me. 2 people arrived at my house, 1 came through the basement, 1 walked around from the back of the house. I was not introduced to them. No one knocked at my door or rang a doorbell. I don't know why the one just walked into my house. I don't know why they did not tell me who they were. I found out they were electricians from the company. I was ignored by all 3 of them from the company. One electrician asked the installer if Refrigerant was leaking out of my new air conditioner, there was a lot of steam coming out of a hose. The installer did not reply. I said that is why I am getting a New Air Conditioner, because of Refrigerant leaking out of my current air conditioner. I talked again about the scratches on the New Air Conditioner. The Installer finally said something. He said for me to call the company. I called and asked to talk to the owner. I was given someone else to talk to. I told him about the scratches. I told him I would like a receipt when I paid. He ended up calling me back after talking to the installer. They will have to order a new part for where the scratches are. The company will send someone out with an Invoice and I can pay that person who comes out. The installer was here for 5 1/2 hours. He sat out in his truck in my driveway. One person gave me an Invoice at 1:30 pm another person came from the company at 2:15 with another Invoice. I never got an Itemized bill, I never got Rebate Information or Warranty Information. I was treated Terrible by the Installer and the 2 electricians. I would not recommend this company to any woman that wants to be treated with respect! I did not receive "TOP-QUALITY, TRUSTED SERVICES" like the website said I would from this company.July 2026Google
- v p2.0Had a great experience with a furnace tune up and repair. Called for a repair request for our AC as we like to stay with the same local companies. AC is not working for us on some of the hottest days, indoor temperature is over 90. Office employee was very rude saying she "lived without ac for years you can survive" and made a comment that I was slow to pick up the phone - on the second ring? will be going with someone else.July 2026Google
- M C5.0Leaving this review so others know how genuinely great the service is at Ray Welter. When you call, a real person answers the phone. I recently needed service on my AC. I called, a real person answered, and we scheduled an appointment for 3 days later. They gave me a window of 8:00-12:00 and said I’d get a call 20 minutes before arrival. I got a call from a nice guy named Scott at 7:40 saying he would arrive at 8:00. He identified the problem, fixed it, and I was once again completely satisfied with Ray Welter. They’ve also done work for me in previous houses (replaced an AC and inspected a furnace). They never asked me to make a Google review like so many companies do these days. They’re just a genuine, family owned, hard working, local company who do great work. Call them! You’ll be happy you did!July 2026Google
- Elyssa Boyd5.0We reached out to Rick to get an estimate for installing AC in our house, and we are sort of disappointed we don't need his services. He was so candid, and said it financially didn't make sense ($20k+ because our house has NO AC, no ductwork, nothing, it's from 1916) when our new window units were working great. He said there was nothing he could offer us, and. that honesty goes a long way. Any HVAC work we may eventually need, we will absolutely be using Welter. After 2 other companies gave us long sales pitches and high estimates, my husband raved about Rick.July 2026Google

About Ray N. Welter Heating Company
Ray N. Welter Heating Company, Minneapolis, MN, has been run by four generations of the Welter family from a South Minneapolis location, and its Google page currently averages 4.8 stars across 207 reviews, read September 22, 2026.
The company won an Angie's List Super Service Award in 2015, and installs Trane, Mitsubishi Electric, and AprilAire equipment. The service list covers furnace installation, maintenance, and repair, air conditioning installation, maintenance, and repair, heat pumps and ductless mini-split systems, and air purifiers, humidifiers, air exchangers, and UV purifiers. Financing is available with approved credit through Wells Fargo Bank.
Standard hours run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weekends closed, though the company states its Minneapolis HVAC team is on call 24 hours a day for emergency service during winter months. The company doesn't publish a specific Minnesota mechanical license number or a Better Business Bureau rating on its site.
Service reaches Minneapolis and the surrounding Twin Cities metro. A company still run by the founder's own family, four generations on, tends to know the older housing stock in South Minneapolis in a way a newer or larger competitor generally does not, which can matter for a furnace replacement in an older home with nonstandard ductwork.
Welter suits a homeowner who wants a company with genuine multi-generation family history and Trane and Mitsubishi Electric equipment. It suits less well someone who wants weekend hours or a published licence number confirmed online first. Ask for the technician's Minnesota mechanical license number directly and current Wells Fargo financing terms before signing for an installation.
