Our Take on Action Security Locksmiths

Action Security Locksmiths is a long-running west end shop whose strength is commercial hardware, master keying and access control rather than late-night lockouts. The 1976 start, a real showroom and BBB and PLAA membership make it an easy company to check before you call. Weekday-only counter hours are the trade-off.

I have a cast iron bank that requires a key which was lost in the '60s. This bank is from the '40s. They're going to cut two new keys for me. Might take him a week or so but at least I don't lose the original lock and no extra scratches. Thanks guys

From a phone call in the morning asking for help with our home doors and locks, Vincent was able to come out and help us in the afternoon. Vincent is extremely professional and knowledgable and solved our lock and door problems. He worked hard and made sure that all of our aging locks and doors were working smoothly before he left. It was clear to us that Vincent really enjoyed his work. We are very impressed with Vincent and his company. We would highly recommend this company and Vincent for anyone considering locksmith repairs and services.

Company Background

About Action Security Locksmiths

Action Security Locksmiths leads with commercial and security systems work from its showroom at 11216 142 Street NW, on the west end of Edmonton. The company says it has been in business since 1976, and its site lists accreditation with the Better Business Bureau of Central and Northern Alberta since 1977, with an A+ rating, plus long membership in the Professional Locksmiths Association of Alberta.

The commercial side is the deepest part of the shop. It offers free security audits, key control, building management and visitor management systems, proximity card readers, panic bars and exit devices, and it can design access control from mechanical digital locks up to web-based systems. It is an authorized dealer of ABLOY and Medeco high-security systems, which suit master-keyed hospitals, schools and industrial sites, and it also sells DOM locks, safes, padlocks and touchless door hardware. Institutional and facilities customers are a stated focus. Residential customers get lock repair, rekeying, deadbolts, home open ups, home security audits and designer hardware from Baldwin and Emtek. Key cutting happens at the counter, and automotive key work is shop service only, not mobile.

Reviewers describe quick, tidy service. Vincent came out the same afternoon to fix aging home locks and doors for one customer, and Davis cut duplicate office keys in under 15 minutes for another. Action Security Locksmiths holds 4.7 from 164 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28. The one practical limit is hours: the counter is open weekdays only, and emergency calls after hours are reserved for account holders.

It suits Edmonton businesses, property managers and institutions that want one supplier for keying, hardware and access control, and homeowners who value a physical shop. It suits less well anyone who needs a weekend lockout without an account. Before booking, ask for a written quote or service-call fee, ask the technician for photo ID and a marked vehicle, ask whether the lockout will be non-destructive, and ask what warranty covers parts and labour. Alberta does not issue one provincial locksmith licence to every operator, so ask for the City of Edmonton business licence, proof of insurance, a firm quote and photo ID.
