Our Take on Edmonton Lock & Safe
Edmonton Lock & Safe is the pick for anyone who wants to see safes and Medeco hardware in a real Strathcona showroom. Reviewers trust its technicians to repair rather than replace. The public site speaks mostly to commercial clients, so homeowners should confirm residential scope when they call.

Company Background
About Edmonton Lock & Safe
Edmonton Lock & Safe operates from a showroom and shop at 7211 104 Street NW, in the Strathcona Junction area just off 104 Street, and it is one of the few locksmiths in the city where you can walk in and look at safes before you buy one. The company says it has served Edmonton since 1972 and describes its technicians as journeyman locksmiths. In 2022 it joined the Calgary Lock & Safe family, though the Edmonton shop, phone line and team remain local.
The product range leans toward security hardware. Edmonton Lock & Safe is a Medeco Security Center and also carries Mul-T-Lock, Abloy and Emtek by Assa Abloy. Its website lists commercial burglar safes, fire safes, depository safes and media safes, along with rekeying, master key systems, door hardware upgrades, electric strikes, access control, automatic doors and smart locks. It also publishes a key order form for repeat orders. The company states it is licensed under Alberta's Security Services and Investigators Act and carries an A+ BBB rating, though no licence number appears on the site.
Reviewers describe the home side of the business well. Michael is named repeatedly for repairs and lock changes, with one customer saying he arrived within a few hours and another that he returned first thing in the morning to follow up. Another reviewer says Michael and Kevin changed their locks and planed the doors so they closed properly. One homeowner says a technician repaired a failing back door lock for $300 after a different company quoted about $2,500 to replace the whole system. The rating is 4.8 from 226 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28.
One fair caution: most of the website is written for property managers, contractors and commercial clients, so homeowners may need to ask directly about residential work. The shop is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and the site advertises 24/7 emergency service on the same number.
This company suits businesses, property managers, and homeowners who want a high-security lock or a safe from a staffed showroom. It suits less well anyone who wants a single flat price quoted over the phone for a basic lockout.
Before booking, ask for an upfront quote or service-call fee, photo ID and a marked vehicle on arrival, whether a lockout can be opened without drilling, and what warranty covers parts and labour. For licensing, Alberta does not issue one provincial locksmith licence to every operator, so ask for the City of Edmonton business licence, proof of insurance, a firm quote and photo ID.
