Editorial Review
Our Take on Royal Lock & Key
A genuine south-side shop with decades behind it and reviewers who name the people at the counter. Strongest for keys, restricted systems and hardware repair, less clear on after-hours emergency dispatch.

Company Background
About Royal Lock & Key
Royal Lock & Key operates from a real shop at 3215 97 Street NW in Edmonton's Parsons Industrial area, a short drive from the south-side neighbourhoods around Mill Woods and Strathcona. The company's website says it has provided the full service package since 1987, which makes it one of the longer-running locksmith storefronts in the city.
The site groups the work into three areas. The first is keys: it supplies and cuts almost any key, including home and office keys, recreational vehicle, filing cabinet and tool box locks, and transponder keys for many vehicles. The second is business and multi-family security, where it supplies restricted lock systems built on Abloy high-security cylinders, with less expensive Ilco restricted options as an alternative. The third is door hardware repair and replacement: continuous and butt hinges, deadbolts, handles, panic bars and trim, door closers and door viewers. The homepage also has a "Locked Out?" prompt and a contact form.
Reviews fit that picture. Jeff praised Yurii, the technician who rebuilt two home locks where the keys spun freely, called ahead with an arrival time and left the house clean. Sandra and a customer with a 54 year old Dodge Charger key both singled out Jussi at the counter, who sourced an out-of-stock blank and duplicated a worn key within minutes. One reviewer brought in an ignition cylinder and got a clear explanation of the fault. The site does not publish prices, so the cost of a call-out is something to settle on the phone. The website gives no licence number and does not say whether it dispatches around the clock, so check both before relying on it for a night lockout.
Royal Lock & Key has 4.7 from 237 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28.
It suits south-side homeowners, landlords and small businesses that want a walk-in shop for key cutting, restricted keys or hardware repair. It suits people needing a guaranteed overnight dispatch less well, since posted hours end at 5:30 PM on weekdays. Before booking, ask for a firm quote or service-call fee, ask the technician for photo ID and a marked vehicle, ask whether a lockout will be opened without drilling, ask about warranty on parts and labour, and request the City of Edmonton business licence and proof of insurance, because Alberta has no single provincial locksmith licence.

Is Royal Lock & Key a licensed locksmith in Edmonton?
