Editorial Review
Our Take on Dial Locksmith & Safeworld
A real downtown-edge shop with decades behind it, strong on safes, Medeco high-security hardware and master key systems. Reviewers praise fast, fair, patient service. Better for home and business security work than for mobile car lockouts.

Company Background
About Dial Locksmith & Safeworld
Dial Locksmith & Safeworld works out of a 5,200 square foot shop and showroom at 10771 101 Street NW, on the downtown edge of Edmonton, where Dial Locksmith Ltd has sold and serviced locks since it was established in 1966. SafeWorld, its safe division, followed in 1993. By the company's own account the showroom holds the largest in-stock selection of safes in Edmonton, including AMSEC, INKAS, MGM and Securifort models, cash depositories, firearm safes and B-rated residential units. The lock side is an authorized Medeco Security Centre, so master key systems and high-security cylinders are a regular line, and the shop also stocks Emtek hardware for homeowners who want better-looking deadbolts and levers.
Services cover homes and businesses: rekeying, lock installation and upgrades, break-in repairs, key cutting, safe delivery and installation, safe lockouts and repairs, and automatic door operators. Emergency service runs around the clock by phone at 780-420-6664, with computer-dispatched mobile units. Shop hours are 8:00 to 5:30 on weekdays and 9:00 to 3:00 on Saturdays.
Reviewers talk about the people. Marcus reached one customer within 30 minutes at about 7:30 in the evening and also fixed a neighbouring unit's lock. Lloyd, described as a 30 year veteran of the company, swapped a homeowner's residential locks for commercial grade hardware in under an hour, and another customer thanked Lisa and the staff for gently opening an antique case. The FAQ lists a City of Edmonton service call at $102, which includes the first hour of labour and rekeying two household locks, with each extra lock $20. Dial Locksmith & Safeworld has 4.6 from 233 Google reviews, read 2026-10-28. Its FAQ also says it does not run a mobile automotive service, invoices only customers with an existing account, and adds a 4 percent surcharge on American Express.
This suits homeowners and businesses that want high-security hardware, a safe, or a master key system from a staffed shop. It suits people who need a mobile car lockout less well. Before booking, ask for a written quote or service-call fee, confirm the technician carries photo ID and arrives in a marked vehicle, ask whether a lockout will be opened without drilling, and ask what warranty covers parts and labour. Alberta does not issue one provincial locksmith licence to every operator, so ask to see the City of Edmonton business licence, proof of insurance, a firm quote and photo ID.
