We recently had hardwood flooring installed and we couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you to Hussein, Mohammed and Vivian (who coordinated the project on such short notice)! Hussein and Mo did an incredible job with the installation - the precision in their cuts and quality work is top-notch. If you are looking for high-quality workmanship, I highly recommend them.

I had a very disappointing experience at this flooring supplier. I went there to purchase vinyl flooring for a commercial project, and because the project was fairly large, pricing was obviously an important part of our decision.

When we arrived, there was a lady at the front desk who was supposed to assist us. From the very beginning, her attitude was unwelcoming. We asked a few normal questions about the vinyl planks, including the starting price range, so we could understand which products might fit our project budget.

Instead of trying to help or explain the options, she looked at me in a way that felt very disrespectful and dismissive. I honestly felt like I was being judged based on my appearance, almost as if I did not belong there or could not afford the products. She then simply walked away from the conversation and, while leaving, just said something like, “That’s my price,” without giving any proper explanation or assistance.

I have been working in construction and renovation for around 10 years, and this was easily one of the worst customer service experiences I have had at a building or flooring supply store.

Customers should be treated with basic respect regardless of how they look, what they are wearing, or how much they plan to spend. Unfortunately, this experience was unnecessarily humiliating and very unprofessional.

Company Background

About GCFlooring

GCFlooring has been selling and installing floors in west Ottawa since 1995, and its own website describes a family-run business where the owners still serve customers in the showroom and on the phone. The shop sits on Colonnade Road North in Nepean, in the Ottawa flooring district between Merivale and Woodroffe, and it is open Monday to Saturday.

The product range covers solid and engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl tile and plank, laminate, ceramic tile and carpet, with a warehouse clearance section and in-stock specials that homeowners can book for installation quickly. The site lists brands such as COREtec, Mercier, Preverco and Karastan, offers a free estimate, and ships across Canada, which is unusual for a local showroom.

Customers who left reviews describe the sales floor as the strong point. Morgan is praised for walking shoppers through several vinyl plank options within a budget, and Paul for helping a new homeowner replace damaged hardwood with luxury vinyl plank and then following the installation through. Hussein and Moe are named for installing hardwood and keeping a homeowner updated at every step, and Jason for helping a customer choose the right wood. One reviewer said they compared six flooring stores before choosing GCFlooring on quality and price. GCFlooring has 4.9 stars from 168 Google reviews, read November 1, 2026.

GCFlooring suits Ottawa homeowners who want to see samples in person, buy from stock and have the same company install. It suits less well anyone who wants a design consultation at home or a specialty finish such as site-sanded hardwood, since the website centres on retail products. Before booking, ask for a written quote that separates product, labour, subfloor preparation and removal of the old floor, ask what warranty covers the installation itself, and check whether your project needs a building permit or condo approval.

GCFlooring FAQs

  • Does GCFlooring need a licence to install floors in Ottawa?

No provincial flooring licence exists in Ontario, and GCFlooring does not list one on its website. Ask for proof of liability insurance and WSIB coverage before work starts, and confirm who installs your floor. A building permit is not normally needed for a floor replacement alone.

  • What are GCFlooring's hours in Ottawa?

GCFlooring is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Sunday. It does not advertise emergency service, so book ahead for measuring and install dates.

  • Does GCFlooring offer free estimates and ship outside Ottawa?

GCFlooring offers free estimates and says it ships across Canada, with a toll-free line at 1-833-511-3872. For Ottawa installs, ask for the warranty on labour in writing, since terms are not published on the site.

  • Is GCFlooring licensed and insured?

We have no credential records on file for this company yet. Ask for the certificate directly from the insurer before booking work.

  • What areas does GCFlooring serve?

Ottawa. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does GCFlooring offer emergency service?

Emergency availability is not listed for this company. If you need an urgent call-out, check the ranking for companies that do list it.

  • What warranty do they offer?

Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
