Editorial Review
Our Take on Holiday Heating and Air Conditioning
The willingness to talk a customer into ductwork over a pricier mini-split system, as one reviewer describes, is the kind of detail that suggests Holiday is quoting what a house actually needs rather than the most profitable option.

- Jonathon Hitz5.0Fast, friendly, efficient, reasonably priced, no complaints. I'm copying my review for a competing company here for more context as I discuss the great job Holiday Heating and Air Condition did for me: "I have had great experiences with Cregger in the past, but my last experience was downright terrible, and I will not use the company again. I called for a leak originating from my furnace when the AC was running. I indicated I expected it was a clogged condensation drain line. The tech came out and was timely and friendly enough. He proceeds to pull the furnace apart and start taking pictures of the furnace. He then proceeds to take pictures of the condenser. He does not even look at the condensation line. He checks the Freon levels, and he tells me they are low and I must have a leak in my system, which caused freezing coils and the water leak. He proceeds to speculate that the leak may be in the evaporator coil and offers me an estimate of around $8,000 to replace the coil and recharge the system. He further shows me the pictures he took of the furnace, encourages me to replace the furnace. He also encourages me to replace the entire AC system as he cannot be sure where the leak is and provides a range of estimates ranging from over $13k to $26K. I tell him I intend to get additional estimates given the cost. After he leaves, I notice the unit is leaking water again. The unit had been off for days and clearly not enough time had passed for ice to form and cause a new leak. It must be the condensation drain line as I initially expected. I call another HVAC specialist (Holiday Heating and Air Conditioning), they come out a few hours later, check the condensation line, find the clog, clear the clog, and charge me $100. AC is back to working perfectly fine with no leaks. Insane that Cregger was trying to sell me on a new system when a simple fix was available. Amplifying my frustrations, I raised my concerns with the company, and they have not offered any meaningful consideration for the experience. I still had to pay their dispatch fee, which, incredibly, was more expensive than Holliday charged to complete the entire job."September 2026Google
- Thomas Prestin5.0I am a project manager and did my homework as replacing our residential boiler was a significant expenditure and we wanted it done well. Our home in Grosse Pointe is a 1920s steam heated three story. I checked pricing and services with over a dozen companies in Wayne and Macomb counties, with several visiting us to inspect and discuss. Not only was their pricing better than their competition, but they met the highest level of expertise I was seeing. They also ended up completing the work quickly. Sometimes you really can get it good, fast, and inexpensive. I highly recommend them.September 2026Google

About Holiday Heating and Air Conditioning
Holiday Heating and Air Conditioning works out of a Mack Avenue location on Detroit's east side, close to the Grosse Pointes, and brings 31 years of experience to a part of the metro full of century-old housing that was never built with central air in mind.
The company holds three Michigan licenses: Unlimited Mechanical Contractor, General Builder, and 4B Boiler Installer, covering both HVAC installation and structural work that older ductwork retrofits sometimes require. Services include air conditioning installation, repair, and maintenance, furnace repair, replacement, and installation, boiler repair, replacement, and conversions, water heater installation, geothermal systems, and 24/7 emergency HVAC repair.
Reviewer Joe Snyder describes installing central air with full ductwork in a 100-year-old home, noting that technician Steven talked him out of a pricier mini-split system in favor of ductwork at a comparable price, a choice that suggests the company is not simply upselling the most expensive option. Reviewer Emma Merritt describes a fast response getting heat restored during a cold spell.
The company's service area is unusually broad, reaching from Detroit and all five Grosse Pointe communities out to Livonia, Dearborn, Canton, Warren, Sterling Heights, Troy, and Ann Arbor. No BBB rating, specific license numbers, or a direct contact email are published on the site, so those details are worth confirming by phone.
Holiday suits Detroit homeowners in older housing who want a company experienced in retrofitting central air and ductwork rather than defaulting to mini-splits. It suits less well someone who wants to verify a specific license number online first. Ask for the Unlimited Mechanical Contractor license number and get a written comparison of ductwork versus mini-split costs before deciding.
