Editorial Review

Our Take on M Scapillati Flooring inc. and Tile Centre

A tile-first family shop with a strong rating and named crew members in its reviews. Choose it for tile and bathrooms rather than whole-house hardwood or carpet. Read the review names against your own project: if you are tiling a shower or a backsplash, the owner, the sales staff and the installers it mentions line up with that work. Ask for a written scope that names the membrane and mortar system before you pay a deposit.

We've had this wonderful company help us with three renovations so far and couldn't be happier with the customer service, quality tiles and expert installation. I especially appreciated their patience and sharing of knowledge based on many years of experience. They were able to share pics of various products installed in homes they worked on as well which greatly helped narrow down the wide selection. Highly recommend!

Clear communication: staff and owner were helpful in the selection process and clearly explained options, kept us updated on timelines.
On time: employees showed up at the proposed time.
Clean workspace: staff minimized dust, protected floors and thoroughly vacuumed at the end of each day.
Tile install and baseboards were done to a high level of craftmanship.

As a complete newbie at tiling, I received amazing help from the staff. I had what I thought was an unusual situation and I had a vague idea of what I wanted. From the first time in the store to the third time in the store, every person was above and beyond helpful. I had a summer pause on the Reno so this is way overdue, but I thank you all at this store. I have recommended you to a few of my friends and will continue to.

What an amazing experience! From going in to pick my tiles to delivery, instillation and seeing the final outcome. Fantastic workmanship and professionalism. You are all very pleasant, enjoy your work and know how to treat a client. Thank you Marco, Antonio, Vittorio, Todd, JP, Connor and of course the great office staff, Gabrielle and Katherine.

After 16 years of wear and tear, the wood floor in our kitchen was in bad shape, and the white grout in our front hall was stained beyond repair. We found the exact replacement porcelain tile we wanted at Scapillati. This is worth mentioning because we did not find what we were looking for at any of the other tile shops we visited.

Ours was a complex, fussy installation, with multiple changes of direction, small areas, nooks and crannies, corners, jogs, and appliances in both the kitchen and powder room—requiring detailed cuts and thoughtful tile placement throughout.

There were several teams and individuals performing different tasks over several days: removal of the old flooring; removal and replacement of bathroom and kitchen fixtures and appliances; installation of the new floor; grouting; replacement of mouldings; and follow-up.

To bottom-line it: our job was reasonably priced and completed on time, exactly as promised. Each team or individual left the work area clean, tidy and safe. Everyone throughout was knowledgeable, skilled, courteous and in fact really nice to deal with.......and the quality of our new floor installation is outstanding.

We love it and could not be happier. First class from start to finish. Highly recommend. Lindsay and Ivan.

Company Background

About M Scapillati Flooring inc. and Tile Centre

M Scapillati Flooring inc. and Tile Centre is a family-owned shop at 834 Churchill Avenue North, in Ottawa's west end. The website says the family has served customers for over 30 years. Its centre of gravity is tile, with luxury vinyl plank alongside.

The work list covers floor tile, fireplace surrounds, backsplashes, full bathroom renovations and exterior tile. The site names Schluter and Mapei systems, which are the membrane, trim and setting products that decide whether a shower or heated floor lasts.

The shop holds 4.7 stars from 104 Google reviews, read November 1, 2026. Reviews name owner Marco, Katherine in sales, Antonio, a delivery team of JP and Evan, and installers Vinny, Connor and Todd. A shop where customers can name the delivery crew and installers is usually one where the owner is close to the work. The caveat is that the public praise leans on tile and bathrooms, so ask for examples if you are after hardwood or carpet, which the site does not list.

Hours are Monday to Friday 7 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 3. Sunday is closed. The 7 a.m. weekday opening suits contractors and early starters. Phone (613) 821-3333.

The shop suits west-end homeowners planning a bathroom, backsplash or tile floor, and builders who want an early counter. It suits less well anyone who wants hardwood or wall-to-wall carpet. Before booking, ask who will set the tile, which membrane and mortar system will go under it, how the subfloor will be levelled, whether a permit is needed for the renovation, and what the workmanship warranty covers in writing.
