Our Take on The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling
A genuinely broad service list and a review count in the thousands make this an easy shortlist entry for Columbus homeowners who want one contractor for pipes and HVAC alike. The 4.7 average from 2,242 Google reviews is strong for an operation this size, though large companies rarely compete on price, so get the after-hours rate and the diagnostic fee confirmed before dispatch. Worth a call if you value availability and a stocked truck over the cheapest quote.

- Robert Grundey5.0Came early. Apprentice led by experienced plumber did great work. Very clean couldn't even tell anyone had been here. Technicians very pleasant and knowledgeable. Great to see younger apprentice being very well trained by experience. I have and will continue to use this company. Good work and come when you need them.September 2026Google
- Tara Becker1.0I called them for an emergency flooding issue in our bathrooms, there was sewage coming up from the drains. I scheduled and was told they wouldn't be able to get out until like 4pm, which was about 4 hrs, ok whatever, we needed someone. I gave her two phone numbers because we are a mechanic/car dealership and she asked me three times who would be here. I told her myself or my husband we are a business, she said both are you area able to pay, yes we are able to pay, and even if we wasn't here the receptionist would be available. 4:00pm came and went and I called them, and apparently they cancelled the appointment because no one was available when they called because we missed their call. We were with customers, and they just cancelled the whole appointment. I told her we are a business and we are here till 8pm.September 2026Google

About The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling
Columbus housing stock runs from pre-war brick in German Village and Clintonville to sprawling 1990s subdivisions in Westerville and Hilliard, and the plumbing problems split along those lines. Older neighbourhoods bring clay sewer laterals with root intrusion, galvanised supply lines that have narrowed to a trickle, and cast iron stacks that finally give up. Newer builds bring failed sump pumps, cracked PVC under slabs and water heaters reaching the end of a twelve-year run all at once. The Waterworks Plumbing Drain Heating Cooling lists services across both categories, which is part of why it turns up so often in searches for Columbus plumbers.
On the drain side, the company's own site lists camera line inspection, hydrojetting, drain cleaning, sewer line services, pipe lining and patching, ejector pumps and catch basin work. That combination matters in this city. A cabled line will clear a blockage, but a camera run tells you whether you are looking at a bellied clay pipe that will back up again next spring. Trenchless lining, where the pipe is a candidate for it, can spare a mature front lawn or a driveway. Ask which method is being proposed and why, and ask to see the camera footage yourself before agreeing to a dig.
Indoor plumbing work covers repiping, water line installation, burst pipe repair, slab leak repairs, kitchen and bathroom fixture replacement, gas line installation, sump pumps, storage tank and tankless water heaters, water softeners and filtration, plus backflow testing and certification. Backflow testing is a recurring requirement for many commercial properties and irrigation systems in the area, so having it under the same roof as general service work is convenient for landlords and facility managers. Grease trap installation and commercial fixture work point the same direction: this is a contractor set up for restaurants and light commercial as well as houses.
Heating and cooling is the other half of the business. Furnace installation, replacement, repair and maintenance sit alongside boiler installation and repair, heat pumps, ductless systems and geothermal heating and cooling. Boilers still heat a good number of older central Ohio homes, and not every HVAC company will touch them, so that listing is worth noting. Air quality items include whole-house humidifiers, smart thermostats, UV germicidal lights, ventilation and carbon monoxide alarm installation. For anyone weighing a heat pump against a replacement gas furnace in a climate with genuine winters and humid summers, a company that installs both has less reason to steer you.
Hours are published as 24 hours a day, every day, which is the sensible expectation for emergency plumbing. Do ask directly what the after-hours rate is, whether there is a diagnostic or trip charge, and whether that charge is credited against the repair if you approve the work. Ask about permits too. Water heater swaps, gas line work and sewer lateral replacement in Columbus and the suburbs generally involve permits and inspection, and a reputable contractor will pull them rather than leave you to explain it at resale. Get the warranty in writing, separating the manufacturer's parts coverage from the company's labour coverage, since those are rarely the same length.
The Google Business Profile carries a 4.7 rating from 2,242 reviews, read on September 4, 2026. Volume that large across a multi-truck operation usually means processes rather than personality, though it also means the experience can vary by which technician arrives. Two contact numbers circulate, (614) 490-2149 on the Google listing and 614-232-2222 on the website, so either should reach dispatch. The Waterworks Plumbing Drain Heating Cooling also maintains a BBB profile and active Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X and Yelp pages, which gives you more than one place to read unfiltered feedback before booking.
Compared with the smaller independent plumbers around Franklin County, a full-service operation like this trades some price flexibility for scheduling depth, stocked trucks and the ability to handle a sewer replacement and a furnace install in the same week. If your job is a single faucet cartridge, a one-van outfit may quote less. For anything involving excavation, mechanical replacement or a property you rent out, the broader capability tends to earn its keep.

The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling FAQs
Does The Waterworks offer 24 hour emergency plumbing in Columbus?
Yes, its published hours are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That covers the calls that cannot wait, such as a burst supply line, a failed sump pump during a storm or a sewer backup into a basement. Call (614) 490-2149 or the number listed on its website, 614-232-2222, and confirm the after-hours labour rate before the truck is dispatched.
How is the waterworks plumbing drain heating cooling rated?
Its Google Business Profile shows 4.7 out of 5 from 2,242 reviews, read on September 4, 2026. That is a substantial review count for a local contractor, and it also maintains a BBB profile along with Facebook, Yelp, LinkedIn, YouTube and X pages if you want to read a wider spread of feedback.
Do they handle both plumbing and HVAC?
Yes, both. Its website lists furnace installation and repair, boiler work, heat pump service, ductless systems, geothermal heating and cooling, air conditioning replacement and indoor air quality items such as humidifiers and smart thermostats, alongside the full plumbing and drain range. Commercial HVAC installation, repair and maintenance are also listed.
Can they replace a sewer line without digging up the yard?
Pipe lining and patching are listed among its sewer and drain services, which is the trenchless approach. Whether it suits your property depends on the condition, diameter and layout of the existing lateral, and a camera inspection is normally what settles that. Ask to see the footage and get a comparison quote for both trenchless and open-cut before deciding.
How long has the company been in business?
Since 1986, according to its own website, giving it close to four decades in the Columbus market. It operates from 550 Schrock Rd on the north side and states that it serves Columbus and surrounding communities.
What should I ask before booking a water heater or sewer replacement?
Ask whether a permit will be pulled and who arranges the inspection, then get the warranty split out in writing. Manufacturer parts coverage and the contractor's own labour coverage usually run for different lengths. For larger jobs it is also worth asking whether the quote is fixed or an estimate, and what happens to the price if unexpected conditions turn up once work starts.
Is The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling licensed and insured?
We have no credential records on file for this company yet. Ask for the certificate directly from the insurer before booking work.
What areas does The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling serve?
Columbus. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.
Does The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling offer emergency service?
Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.
What warranty do they offer?
Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.
