Company Background
About Alexanian Carpet & Flooring & Rug Cleaning
Alexanian Carpet & Flooring & Rug Cleaning is the Upper James Street showroom of a company founded in Hamilton in 1925. The Alexanian story on its website says Aris Alexanian opened the first store on King Street, that his sons Aram, Armen and Albert later joined, and that third and fourth generations now work in the business, which lists 19 locations. This store sells carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile and area rugs, and the site lists professional installation, a financing page and an online rug store that has shipped across Canada since 1999. Rug and carpet cleaning is a separate service.
Google shows 4.6 from 259 Google reviews, read November 1, 2026. Zoran is named by a customer who praised his patience in choosing flooring and underpad, George helped another customer pick stair carpet, and a reviewer says the install by Matt was professional and thorough. The record also includes two critical reviews. One customer who chose a glue-down vinyl tile over kitchen linoleum reports a dark glue line between tiles, and a cleaning customer complained about a vehicle stain on a driveway. Both are specific enough to ask about during a quote.
Note that this is a large, multi-location company, not an owner-operated crew. Installers and sales staff vary, and the Hamilton store may not run every promotion advertised online. The website advertises a 100 year anniversary sale with flooring from 2.49 dollars a square foot, so confirm which products and installs that price includes.
Alexanian suits shoppers who value an established retailer with a showroom, a financing option and installation under one roof. It suits less well anyone who wants a specialist refinisher or a small crew. Before booking, get an itemized written quote, ask who installs and how long the install warranty lasts, and ask how glue-down products are handled on top of existing floors.
