Editorial Review
Our Take on Champion AC
Champion Home Services, doing business as Champion AC, built its 4.9 average by treating a broken cooling system in a South Texas summer as the emergency it actually is. The company's content on indoor HVAC components and early warning signs reflects a technical depth that goes beyond the standard service-call script.

- Stephanie Flores1.0⭐ 1-Star Review I strongly recommend avoiding Champion AC Company in San Antonio. We scheduled a tune-up appointment not once, but twice. Both times, we were given an unreasonable 12-hour service window and had to take time off work to sit at home and wait for someone to show up. After sacrificing an entire workday waiting for service, we were simply canceled on and rescheduled. No technician showed up, and the lack of communication throughout this entire process has been incredibly frustrating. What is especially disappointing is the complete disregard for customers' time. People work, have responsibilities, and shouldn't have to rearrange their lives repeatedly for a company that can't honor its appointments or communicate properly. The level of inconsideration and poor customer service is ridiculous. I honestly don't understand how a company with experiences like this maintains a 4.9-star rating. Save yourself the frustration. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.September 2026Google
- Lane Rockett1.0Shameful…A sales person from champion home service attempted to take advantage of my friend who is on the spectrum. She was encouraged to completely abandon her 8 year-old gas furnace, AC and ductwork. $24,000 worth mini-splits were recommended.A second opinion showed no notable issues with the system. No diagnosis or testing of the unit was performed by champion home services. The system had been off for 5 days prior to the second opinion (2nd Hottest week of the year so far this year) My friend was under the assumption damage had occurred after a recent storm. The second opinion showed there was no damage from the storm and the system cools properly.September 2026Google
- Adrian Rincon4.0UPDATE: About an hour after posting my initial review, a manager reached out and apologized for the incorrect information I received during my first call. Champion AC does, in fact, provide free estimates for customers seeking a new unit. I appreciate the prompt follow‑up, the acknowledgment of the oversight, and the effort to make things right.////End Update. I’m seeking a replacement AC unit for my parents, whose system recently failed. I contacted Champion AC to request an estimate for replacing their very old, non‑functional unit. The representative informed me there would be an $89 service fee just to provide the estimate. After calling four other companies as part of my research, Champion AC is the only one requiring a service fee. I’m disappointed that a straightforward request turned into unnecessary back‑and‑forth. I will not be using Champion AC and do not recommend them to others. At the end of the day, I simply needed a price so I could purchase a unit to keep my elderly parents’ home cool.September 2026Google

- Daniel Gonzales1.0I called on a Monday (7/27), Wednesday (7/29) was the first available day they could schedule a Technician to come to my home. Come Wednesday, at 5:27pm, after waiting all day, I was sent a text that there was high demand and I would have to reschedule the appointment. I rescheduled for Thursday (7/30), at 12:41pm I receive another "high volume, need to reschedule, text. Keep in mind this is in the middle of our Summer 2026 Heat Wave! I call to stress that I cannot keep rescheduling. A Technician is sent that Thursday afternoon (after 4pm). The Tech identifies the problem, compressor has gone out. Tech puts in the parts order that day. Today is 8/10/2026 and I have had ZERO communication with this company that was initiated by them to provide an ETA, update, etc. I called on: 8/1, 8/3, 8/6, 8/7, and 8/10. Each time just simply asking for some update or reassurance when the part would arrive. I was told that the Parts Coordinator would give me a call three separate times. Never received a call back. Today, 8/10, marks two weeks since I called Champion and my family and home have been without AC this entire time. This has cost: hotel stays, window AC units purchased, and staying with relatives. I will not fault a company for the failures in distribution routes or warehouse issues. What has made this experience terrible is the fact that communication has been non existent. No call backs, no updates, nothing. I've since called Jon Wayne AC company the morning of 8/10, they were at my house by 11:45am the same day.August 2026Google

About Champion AC
Champion AC, the air conditioning division of Champion Home Services, operates out of West Rhapsody Drive in San Antonio and holds Texas air conditioning contractor license TACLA00007068E. The company services and installs both residential and commercial AC units across San Antonio and the surrounding areas.
What stands out on the company's own site is the amount of technical detail it publishes for homeowners: explainers on how indoor HVAC components work together to move air, remove humidity and transfer heat, and what it looks like when one of those parts starts to underperform. That same emphasis carries into the company's emergency repair messaging, which treats a summer cooling failure in San Antonio as a genuine health and safety issue rather than just an inconvenience, given how quickly indoor temperatures climb once the AC stops working.
Champion AC's core services cover AC repair, AC installation and AC tune-ups, and the company positions itself as equally comfortable with a straightforward repair call and a full system replacement. Reviews reflect a 4.9 star average across San Antonio customers, a strong showing for a company handling both residential and commercial accounts.
What is less clear from the site is a specific published warranty term for new installations or a breakdown of financing options, since the marketing content focuses more on explaining HVAC systems than on listing program details. A homeowner comparing quotes should ask directly about warranty coverage and any financing available before approving a full system replacement.
Anyone hiring Champion AC, or any HVAC contractor in San Antonio, should confirm the TACLA license number matches state records with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation before signing a contract, and should get the specific warranty terms in writing for any new equipment installed.
