  • St. Mary's Cathedral - Calgary5.0

"Working with Freeze Maxwell Roofing has been an absolute pleasure. They’ve taken care of the roofs on our Cathedral and all the surrounding buildings, and their level of service is truly second to none. From the very start, they’ve been professional, reliable, and clearly experts at what they do. What really sets them apart is how they stand behind their work—they warranty everything and respond quickly whenever we need them. It’s rare to find a company that cares as much about ongoing maintenance and peace of mind as they do about the initial installation. We highly recommend Freeze Maxwell Roofing to anyone looking for top-tier roofing support, especially for complex or historic properties."

John Josar, of Freeze Maxwell, the lead man in charge of our roof repair, is well informed about roofing problems. Our recently redone flat roof was not done correctly. He was able to identify correct it. He is supportive and endured my constant inquires. His team, like himself, was timely and courteous. He far exceeded any of the many construction crew I have worked with in the past. His honestly, integrity and knowledge rates 5 stars with me. I will not consider anyother company to deal with in my future builds. Thank you John and crew members

We recently had our roof replaced by Freeze Maxwell Roofing and we would recommend this company in a heart beat. Their workmanship, their attention to detail and their customer service was outstanding . We wanted to acknowledge John Josar for being so responsive and ensuring that everything was done to his standard, which is the highest level. Thank you for answering all questions in a professional and timely matter.

This was an amazingly well job done. I work for a commercial property and called John for a roof leak in a restaurant. I needed help and John was most co operative and got a service tech out in record time(in my opinion as the rain was prolific). Miki was the techs name and I would like to say he was above and beyond in service. It was still raining when he went on the roof and found the leak and repaired it quickly. The Restaurant opened the area up for customers, and were very grateful as there was a line up at the door! Then he took the time and found multiple other things that also could be problems in the future. eg. Some flashing had failed, fixed. Another contractor had been up there a couple days before, and around their job area was 6 possible cuts in the roofing, patched. And a couple of other problems that he found and quickly fixed. Miki called me when the job was done and he was very professional and very nice on the phone. I cannot be happier with the quality of service offered and you will be happy when you call for service. I just found out they do residential as well.

Chris and Eddie came out to our commercial building a couple of months ago. It's 26,000 sq ft and had no less than a dozen leaks. We've had 5" of rain so far in July and there are no leaks. Very happy with the results

Company Background

About Freeze Maxwell Roofing

Freeze Maxwell Roofing (Calgary) Ltd. works out of 4635 1st St SE and says it has more than 37 years in the trade, with many staff members on the payroll for 25 years or longer. The company concentrates on flat roofs, commercial and industrial buildings first and flat residential second. Its service list covers conventional built-up roofing, modified bitumen membrane, single ply, sheet metal roofing and retrofit, programmed maintenance plans and green or living roofs. The website names the manufacturers it installs, including Carlisle, Duro-Last, IKO, Soprema, Siplast, Sika, Tremco, Dow and LiveRoof, which fits a shop that handles large membrane systems rather than asphalt shingles. A property manager quoted on the company site says Freeze Maxwell has been the tendered contractor for more than 500,000 square feet of full replacements across four Calgary industrial buildings since 2018, which gives a sense of the scale involved.

The company holds 4.9 from 60 Google reviews, read October 5, 2026. It says it is fully registered, licensed, insured and bonded, but it does not publish a licence number, so ask for one. Alberta does not license roofers provincially, so request the City of Calgary business licence number, a current Alberta WCB clearance letter and proof of liability insurance before you sign anything. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, with after-hours emergency service available around the clock by phone. The site publishes no warranty terms, financing options or pricing, and it never mentions pitched shingle roofs, so a homeowner with a sloped roof should confirm the company takes that work before booking a visit.

This company suits building owners, property managers, condo boards and owners of flat residential roofs who want a long-established crew and a free estimate. It suits less well a homeowner who needs a quick shingle repair. Before booking, ask which membrane system and manufacturer is proposed, what warranty comes from the manufacturer and what comes from the contractor, and who will supervise the crew on site.
