Five stars for Heartwood Renovations! They recently completed two bathroom renovations for us, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish.
Communication throughout the entire process was top-notch. Our project manager, Patrick, was excellent, incredibly responsive and always on top of every detail. We also loved their app and having access to a clear schedule and daily calendar showing the project status and upcoming work made everything transparent and easy to plan around.
The quality of the work is exceptional, and we were thoroughly impressed with the finished bathrooms. A special shoutout to Gary and Connor from the Heartwood team, who were fantastic to work with. Every contractor brought into our house was professional, skilled, and remarkably respectful of our space.
We we impressed with how they handled an issue with some damage caused during the project (an unfortunate, unforeseen situation) and Heartwood took responsibility and rectified it completely. We appreciated the accountability.
We would highly recommend Heartwood Renovations to anyone looking for quality work and a great team. We won't hesitate to hire them again for future projects!

A follow-up review - Warranty! So, many companies offer promises and warranties for their work. We had both our kitchen and ensuite renovated at the same time. Our beautiful ensuite's custom shower area is fantastic, but the door kept needing adjusting. Turns out one of the fixings for the plate glass had worked its way loose. Heartwood were right there - they assessed the problem, and had their glass expert in. The problem was fixed within a week, all covered under their warranty.

Heartwood is an excellent contractor. We had a great experience working with Heartwood on our home renovation. From start to finish, the team was knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. They communicated well throughout the project and were always willing to take the time to make sure things were done properly and on time.
Their commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail really showed in the result. We're so happy with our newly renovated home and couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out.
A special thank you to Patrick L., Jen P., Leah W., and Garry for all their work and support throughout the process. It was a pleasure working with you all.

We did a large multi-phased renovation with Heartwood. They completely renovated a first floor apartment, including creating two new exterior entry ways and redesigning the custom bathroom space, then moved onto the main living area, providing custom built-in cabinets, a brand new kitchen redesign, creation of a new full bathroom and upgrading/updating 3 additional bathrooms plus moving a laundry room into a new functional space. The level of detail was excellent and our project manager Mike was fantastic at keeping us up-to-date and on track. When discoveries were made (as would be expected with a project this size and scope) the entire team was excellent at problem-solving and adjusting so that we could stay on time and on budget. The workmanship was excellent, down to the details of the finishes. Our new space is both custom and functional for our busy family and we will enjoy all of the attention to planning and details for the years to come - Would highly recommend!

Company Background

About Heartwood Renovations

Heartwood Renovations is an Ancaster company, part of the City of Hamilton, with its office at 680 Tradewind Drive, Unit 7. The About page says the firm has been celebrating more than 16 years in business and lists Joal Roshko and Nick Mancini as co-owners and founding partners. The company works across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area on interior design and home renovation projects, with a strong lean toward kitchens.

The site describes a structured process. Designers, project managers and craftspeople work together, a project manager walks the house with the homeowner before work begins, and the same manager stays in touch during construction. That sequence matters on a kitchen or whole-floor job where dust, trades and deliveries stack up.

Google shows 4.8 stars from 117 reviews, read October 30, 2026, the second-largest review base on this list outside downtown. The site displays a Hamilton Chamber of Commerce membership logo and an Awards of Distinction badge. Photos show a long galley-to-island kitchen with a marble-look waterfall counter, a glass-front butler pantry, a bright open-plan kitchen with oak cabinets and a dark-stained bathroom vanity.

Points to weigh: the 4.8 rating is the lowest on this list, though across 117 reviews it is still excellent. The site does not publish a licence number, WSIB or insurance details, and the Ancaster location is some distance from the lower city, so ask about travel and scheduling if you live east of the Red Hill Valley.

Heartwood suits homeowners in Ancaster, Dundas, Westdale and the west Mountain who want a designer and a project manager involved from the first walkthrough. It suits less well anyone seeking a quick, low-cost cosmetic update without design input.

Before booking, ask for a written scope and price, the insurance certificate and WSIB clearance certificate, who applies for the City of Hamilton building permit, and the warranty on labour. Ontario has no general provincial licence for renovation contractors, so those documents are your check.
