Our Take on Hetter Heating & Cooling

Being the only two-time BBB Torch Award winner in central Ohio is a specific, verifiable credential about business ethics rather than a generic star rating, and it's paired here with real trade credentials: NATE certification, ACCA membership, and Trane authorized dealer status. Sixty-plus years in business backs up that reputation with real longevity.

About Hetter Heating & Cooling

Hetter Heating & Cooling, now operating under the combined name Waterworks & Hetter Heating and Cooling, has worked out of Kenny Road in Columbus since 1963, more than 60 years in the market. It carries a 4.9 rating from 1,321 Google reviews, read September 22, 2026, and a BBB A+ rating, but the credential that stands out most is being the only two-time BBB Torch Award winner in central Ohio, a recognition built around ethical business practices and verified through BBB's own review process rather than customer star ratings alone.

The company holds NATE certification for its technicians, ACCA membership, Energy Star certification, and Comfort Specialist status, and it's a Trane authorized dealer alongside Ruud and Tempstar lines, with Honeywell and Aprilaire as air quality partners. That combination of manufacturer and trade-association credentials is broader than most single-brand HVAC shops carry.

Hetter runs 24/7 emergency service with live phone answer around the clock rather than routing after-hours calls to voicemail, and it offers free second opinions on major diagnoses. Its Energy Savings maintenance plan comes in Silver and Gold tiers, with Gold offering a 30 percent service discount and priority scheduling, a more specific structure than a flat "annual tune-up" plan.

The company's published hours run 6 AM to 10 PM daily rather than a full 24-hour storefront, with the 24/7 claim applying specifically to emergency phone response. Its stated service area covers Dublin, Powell, Grove City, Hilliard, Worthington, New Albany, Westerville, Reynoldsburg and Columbus.

Hetter's site doesn't name specific owners or team members, publish detailed warranty terms, or show storefront, truck or team photos on the pages reviewed, so those are worth asking about directly.

For a Columbus homeowner who wants a Trane dealer with a genuinely unusual ethics credential, the only two-time BBB Torch Award winner in the region, and 24/7 live phone answer for emergencies, Hetter is a strong, well-established option with more than six decades of local history.

Hetter Heating & Cooling FAQs

  • What is the BBB Torch Award, and has Hetter won it?

The BBB Torch Award recognizes business ethics rather than customer ratings alone. Hetter is the only two-time winner in central Ohio, on top of holding a BBB A+ rating.

  • Is Hetter available for emergencies?

Yes, the company offers 24/7 live phone answer for emergencies, though its published storefront hours run 6 AM to 10 PM daily.

  • What maintenance plans does Hetter offer?

A tiered Energy Savings plan with Silver and Gold levels; the Gold tier includes a 30 percent service discount and priority scheduling.

  • Is Hetter Heating & Cooling licensed and insured?

We checked 0 of 4 credentials against the issuing authority. Verified items carry the date we checked; reported items are what the business told us and we could not independently confirm.

  • What areas does Hetter Heating & Cooling serve?

Columbus. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does Hetter Heating & Cooling offer emergency service?

  • What warranty do they offer?

Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
