  • Dan Lowinger5.0Great service. We had a repair done on our gas furnace last year with Olson Energy, which was reasonably priced and worked well. We decided to replace the furnace this year given it was 25 years old. We used Olson again. The estimate and scheduling process was easy and the installers were very nice and efficient. The furnace works great. Would definitely call Olson Energy for future needs, although hope not to need to.November 2025Google

About Olson Energy Service

Olson Energy Service says it has been a family-owned heating company in the Seattle area since 1926, which makes it the oldest business on this list by several decades. It works out of a shop on Stone Avenue North, in the Bitter Lake area of north Seattle, and has 377 Google reviews at a 4.8 average as of September 23, 2026.

The company's core work is heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioning, and oil and gas conversions, which suits north Seattle, where many older houses still run on oil heat. Its site lists service and repair alongside new installs, and the license number printed in the footer, OLSONED863OD, can be checked on the Washington L&I lookup.

The reviews point in a consistent direction. Several customers say Olson's bid was the lowest of the quotes they collected, one by a wide margin, and describe estimators who answered questions without pushing an upgrade. One customer who got four quotes for a Mitsubishi heat pump chose Olson on price and said the install was excellent. Another moved from an oil furnace to a heat pump and praised the crew for showing up a few minutes early and cleaning up completely. A technician named Chris is credited with a quick diagnosis on an air conditioner that was underperforming. Long-time customers stand out as well. One reviewer said Olson installed their original furnace in the 1990s and they used the company again 30 years later, and another said the service had been excellent for over 25 years.

Olson does not advertise 24/7 emergency service, financing, or a maintenance membership on its homepage, so ask about those directly if they matter to you. Its office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays. We could not find real job photos on its Google profile or website, so this profile does not include photos yet.

Olson fits north Seattle homeowners who want a competitive bid on a furnace or heat pump from a company with a very long local history and no sales pressure. It is less suited to anyone who needs a same-night emergency call or wants monthly payments arranged by the contractor.
