Editorial Review
Our Take on Energy Technologies
Energy Technologies is the kind of small, owner-led shop that earns repeat customers over a decade. The review count is modest, but the Mitsubishi Diamond status and consistent praise for honest bids make it a strong pick in northwest Seattle.

Recent Google Reviews
- Dung Nguyen5.0They installed a hyper heat air handler system and were efficient with excellent communication throughout. They came back the next day to help troubleshoot an issue, which turned out to be a settings adjustment. Highly recommend.February 2026Google
- Steve Wilhelm4.0This company did a great job of installing heat pumps in a very high-quality manner, and the Mitsubhishi units have been transformational. The team was very good and efficient, and the devices work perfectly. Only tiny suggestion would be to ask them about installation options in terms of the house exterior, because it seemed they're so used to doing this they didn't think to explain the upsides and downside of the alternatives beforehand, so we could mull it over. But that said, the work was great, the machines are excellent, and the balanced heat (and cooling) in the house is prefect.November 2025Google
- Keith Watts5.0High quality whole house ducted cold climate heat pump installation. Responsive support. Friendly crew. Knowledgeable. Didn't over size the system. Price was good.January 2025Google
- Mike Earls5.0Amazing service. Save the day keeping us warm. Got the fireplace working when nobody could!November 2024Google
- Rebecca Letwin5.0Great experience with Energy Technologies. This team knows their work well and did a very good job. They always do their best to make things right.October 2024Google
- Jason Groves5.0Great experiences with Energy Technologies. They replaced my inefficient electric water heater with a super efficient hybrid heat pump water heater. I think every house in Seattle with a basement should have one of these. Energy Technologies sold me on it, and 18 months later I'm still very happy with it. Costs were more upfront but the energy savings will make it far less expensive already in the medium term. As a bonus, the heat pump dehumidifies the air and brought the humidity levels significantly down in the damp basement. The model they installed isn't very loud and doesn't drop the temperature significantly (two concerns that people have). The manufacturer has a smartphone app that shows daily energy use (only 1-3 kWh for a family of 4!) and offers remote control of the water heater (water temp, mode, etc.). I'm able to run on the heat pump setting exclusively. When the unit had a defect, Energy Technologies diagnosed the problem and replaced it in a timely fashion and all under warranty. Super knowledgeable and professional employees.October 2024Google

About Energy Technologies
Energy Technologies is a small HVAC and electrical company with a storefront on 15th Avenue NW in Ballard. It has 53 Google reviews at a 4.7 average as of September 23, 2026, a smaller count than most companies on this list, but the reviews go back roughly ten years and several come from repeat customers. The company describes itself as having more than a decade of hands-on experience in Seattle.
The work centers on heat pumps. Energy Technologies is a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and an American Standard dealer, and it is a member of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association. It installs ductless mini splits and ducted heat pumps, replaces oil furnaces, adds air conditioning, installs heat pump water heaters, and does electrical work including EV chargers. Google lists duct cleaning among its services as well.
Reviewers describe a family-run business where the owner, Al, is easy to reach and closely involved. One customer who has worked with the company since 2013, starting with an energy assessment and a switch from oil heat to a ductless heat pump, called him one of the most trustworthy people they have done business with. Another said a neighbor who runs an HVAC school recommended the company for a three-zone Mitsubishi install, and that Energy Technologies was the most affordable of four bids. A more recent reviewer said the crew came back the next day to troubleshoot a hyper-heat air handler, which turned out to be a settings issue. The one four-star review in the recent set asked for more discussion of where outdoor units and line sets would sit on the house exterior.
The company offers free estimates and after-hours and weekend emergency appointments. Its office hours on Google are 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. Its website does not list a Washington contractor license number, so ask for it and check it on the L&I lookup.
Energy Technologies suits Ballard, Crown Hill and Greenwood homeowners who want a small company, direct contact with the owner and a heat pump from a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor. With a smaller team, lead times in busy seasons may be longer than at the large shops, so ask about scheduling early.

Is Energy Technologies licensed and insured?
We checked 0 of 4 credentials against the issuing authority. Verified items carry the date we checked; reported items are what the business told us and we could not independently confirm.

Yes, the company lists emergency availability. Response time depends on demand, and after a storm every company in the market is stretched.
What warranty do they offer?
