Editorial Review

Our Take on Queen City Plumbing

The plumbing and HVAC combination is genuinely useful in a market where summer failures often cross both trades, and 1,541 Google reviews at 4.8 is a serious body of feedback for a single metro. We would still nail down the after-hours call-out fee and the permit responsibility in writing before booking, because those are the two places surprises usually appear. A solid first call for households wanting one contractor on file.

  • Janet Taranto5.0I researched the difference between electric and hybrid as I am going solar and am trying to eliminate gas completely. I was enticed by the great rebates from Duke and tax credits for 2025. Queen City was one of the companies authorized to install for Duke and had a great reputation. They sent out Bill who listened carefully to what I wanted and put together a quote. I hired them and they accommodated my schedule to replace everything. First Michael Lopez was awesome on installing the hybrid model and then Hass electrical was paired with them to install the necessary 240 volt plug. They took care of everything! I didn’t have to worry about setting up anything myself. It was a great experience. Everything is in code and permitted and they cleaned up everything nicely. Very professional and nice people! Update. 6/26 Additionally, I have enjoyed their people and service so much they are doing a fan install and my Heat pump HVAC system. Michael diagnosed it the same day I called ( it’s under warranty so no charges either) Vinton came out today and installed the bad board and was so nice and helpful and checked my water pressure which had been a little low and is now better. I highly recommend Queen City’ BJ and James have been stellar about the fan and hvac and helped come up with a great design in an interesting bathroom configuration. Did the annual water flush and Michael was on time and efficient.. thanks!September 2026Google

About Queen City Plumbing

Two trades under one dispatch board changes how a service call goes. A homeowner who finds water pooling near the air handler in August does not always know whether that is a plumbing problem or an HVAC one, and a company that runs both departments can send someone who will not shrug and hand over a competitor's card. That dual setup is the defining feature of queen city plumbing, which trades as Queen City Heating, Air & Plumbing and has been operating since 2009 according to its own website.

The plumbing side of the list is broad. Emergency repairs, drain cleaning, toilet and faucet repair, garbage disposals, water heater work in tank and tankless form, whole home water filtration, leak detection, pipe repair and full repipes, water service line work, and sewer line repair and replacement. Commercial plumbing appears as its own category, and the company describes serving both residential and light commercial customers. On the mechanical side there is air conditioning and heating repair, emergency HVAC call-outs, preventative maintenance, air purification, duct cleaning and new system installation. Financing is mentioned on the site, though the terms are not published, so ask what is on offer and who underwrites it.

Charlotte's building stock spreads across a wide age range, and that shapes what a plumber runs into. Older neighbourhoods inside Route 4, places like Dilworth, Plaza Midwood and parts of Elizabeth, still hold galvanised supply lines and cast iron drains that are past their useful life, plus clay sewer laterals that mature willow oaks find irresistible. Repipe quotes in those houses turn on access, whether there is a crawl space, how much drywall comes down, and whether the water service from the meter to the house is being replaced at the same time. Ask for that scope in writing. Out in the newer rings, Ballantyne, Highland Creek, the Union County side of Matthews and Mint Hill, the housing is mostly post-1990 with PVC drains and copper or PEX supply, so the calls skew toward water heaters reaching the end of a twelve year run, pressure reducing valves failing, and expansion tank replacement on closed systems.

Permits matter locally. Water heater replacements, repipes, sewer laterals and gas line work generally require a permit and inspection through Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement, and North Carolina requires a licensed plumbing contractor for that work. Any quote you take should say plainly who pulls the permit and whether the inspection fee is included. If a company proposes swapping a water heater without one, that is worth a question rather than a shrug.

On the twenty four hour claim, the published hours do say open around the clock every day. What that usually means in this trade is a live answering service and an on-call technician rather than a full crew, so the practical questions are what the after-hours call-out charge is, whether it is applied before or after diagnosis, and how it changes on a Sunday or a holiday. The site says pricing is given upfront with no surprises, which is a claim rather than a verified rate card, so get the number spoken aloud before anyone drives out.

The review record is the strongest single piece of evidence. Read on 4 September 2026, the Google Business Profile showed 4.8 from 1,541 reviews. Volume at that level usually indicates a company running multiple trucks daily over a long period, which suits a homeowner who wants availability and a dispatcher who answers. It also means the experience can vary technician to technician in a way it will not with a two-person outfit, so it is fair to ask who is assigned and how long they have been with the company.

Who is this a poor fit for? Anyone hunting the lowest possible price on a straightforward swap will often do better with a small independent who carries less overhead. Custom fixture installs for a high-end renovation, well systems out past the county line, and specialist backflow certification work may also sit outside what a general residential service company handles best. For a failed water heater on a Saturday, a kitchen line that will not clear, or an AC that quits in a Piedmont heat wave, queen city plumbing sits in the group of Charlotte contractors with the depth to answer the same day. Compare two quotes on anything above a few thousand dollars, ask for the licence number, and confirm the warranty terms on both parts and labour before you sign.

Queen City Plumbing FAQs

  • Is Queen City Plumbing really open 24 hours?

Its published hours list open 24 hours, seven days a week. In practice most contractors staffing round the clock use an answering service with an on-call technician overnight rather than a full crew, so call and confirm response times and what the after-hours rate is before you commit to a night visit.

  • What areas around Charlotte does it cover?

The website names Charlotte, Ballantyne, Matthews, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Concord, Gastonia and Mooresville, and invites people outside that list to call and check. The office address is on Graham Park Drive in southwest Charlotte, near the Steele Creek area.

  • How is it rated?

The Google Business Profile showed 4.8 from 1,541 reviews when read on 4 September 2026. That review count is high for a single-market plumbing and HVAC company and suggests a long run of daily service work rather than a handful of large projects.

  • Does it handle heating and air conditioning as well as plumbing?

Yes. The company trades as Queen City Heating, Air & Plumbing and lists AC repair, heating repair, emergency HVAC call-outs, preventative maintenance, new system installation, duct cleaning and air purification alongside its plumbing services.

  • Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Charlotte?

Generally yes. Water heater replacements, repipes, gas line work and sewer laterals in Mecklenburg County usually require a permit and inspection, and North Carolina requires licensed contractors for that work. Ask any company you quote whether the permit and inspection fee is inside the price and who files it.

  • Does it offer financing?

The website has a financing page, but the terms, lender and qualifying criteria are not published there. Ask what plans are available, what the interest rate and term are, and whether the offer applies to repairs or only to system replacements.

  • Is it a good fit for a small repair?

It should be, since the service list runs down to faucets, toilets and garbage disposals. That said, a homeowner chasing the cheapest possible price on a simple swap may find a smaller independent plumber quotes lower, because a multi-truck operation with 24 hour dispatch carries more overhead.

  • Is Queen City Plumbing licensed and insured?

We have no credential records on file for this company yet. Ask for the certificate directly from the insurer before booking work.

  • What areas does Queen City Plumbing serve?

Charlotte. Coverage is as the business describes it, cross-checked against where its recent documented work is. Confirm your address before scheduling, particularly at the edge of a service area.

  • Does Queen City Plumbing offer emergency service?

Emergency availability is not listed for this company. If you need an urgent call-out, check the ranking for companies that do list it.

  • What warranty do they offer?

Warranty terms are not on file. Ask for them in writing before work starts.

  • How was this profile built?

Credentials come from issuing authorities, ratings from the company's Google Business Profile with the date we read them, and the editorial take from our own review of estimates, warranty documents and public feedback. Anything the business told us is labelled as reported.

  • Can a business pay to improve its profile?

A business can subscribe to manage its own listing details, and it can buy a labelled sponsored placement. Neither changes a ranking position or the editorial assessment on this page.
