Took $500 for roof inspection and ghosted me. I had Eric Fournier come out, inspect my roof and attic with a promise he would get back to me to fix my roof (minor, but multiple leaks). When the time came, no communication followed, so I texted and emailed multiple times - crickets in response. I'm moving on and I will never recommend roofmaster to anyone around me.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from this company. A little over 10 years ago, we hired them to replace the roofs on two of our properties in Ottawa. Recently, one of the properties developed a roof leak, so I contacted them to explain the situation. We understood that the 10-year warranty had expired and were fully prepared to pay for the necessary repairs or even a new roof. Initially, I spoke with Lisa, who was pleasant and empathetic. She acknowledged that the situation was unusual and advised that she would have Roger come out to inspect the roof and determine the cause of the leak. Unfortunately, that was the last time I received any clear information about when someone would actually come to assess the problem. After receiving no follow-up, I called back and was told it would be approximately two weeks before someone could inspect the roof. The timeline then changed to one week. When I called again, I was finally told that Roger would not be able to look at it until the new year. For three weeks, I was repeatedly given different timelines, with no clear commitment or resolution. Meanwhile, we have an urgent roofing issue that needs attention. I understand that roofing companies can be extremely busy, especially during certain times of the year. However, as a repeat customer who previously invested a significant amount of money in having two properties re-roofed, I expected better communication and consideration. What is particularly disappointing is that we were not asking for free service under an expired warranty. We were willing to pay for the work. All we wanted was a timely assessment and an honest, realistic timeline. A roof should reasonably be expected to last longer than 10 years, although I recognize that its lifespan depends on the materials, installation, and other factors. The leak itself raises concerns about the workmanship and durability, but the lack of communication and follow-through has been just as frustrating. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning both the quality of the workmanship and the company's commitment to its past customers. It is disappointing to feel that once the original job is complete, repeat customers are no longer a priority. I would encourage anyone considering this company to carefully evaluate not only the quality of its roofing work but also its after-sales service and willingness to stand behind its work.

We had RoofMaster replace our skylights in the spring. They used good quality materials. The staff were pleasant to deal with. They did a professional job. Left the site clean. No mess to clean up inside either. No leaks 😀! Thank you RoofMaster for your professional service.

Roofmaster was the third company to quote on my leaking flat roof and chimney several years ago. Instead of a quote for a new roof, crew chief Roger suggested a far less expensive water diversion repair plan. After installing his low tech solution for a very reasonable price, I have waited to judge performance before reviewing. ( All roofing repairs are great when reviewed before rain and snow ). It's been a couple of years and his solution continues to hold up and still solves my problem, and I've been on the roof to check it. I called Roofmaster recently to ask for help on a different problem area caused by storm damage and again they went far above and beyond. As I was resolved to handle this issue myself, I asked advice of their expert Arzan, and he even supplied me with a few matching shingles @ no charge to do my repair. This company is committed to customer service, honesty, and quality professional work at fair prices. They passed on opportunities to do less. Excellent... this is how a customer wants to be treated ! I will continue to refer them and would advise anyone to have trust in using them. Family business you say ? No surprise here. Clearly a family with pride. Dave B. in Westboro

Company Background

About Roofmaster Ottawa Inc.

Roofmaster Ottawa Inc. has been putting roofs on Ottawa houses since 1981, and it still works out of the same office at 163 MacFarlane Road in Nepean. The company says it has finished nearly 25,000 projects. It is family owned: Mr. Bulsara Sr started it, and his sons Kershan and Arzan now lead it as partners, with Kershan as general manager and Arzan as production manager.

The work covers asphalt shingles, steel and standing seam metal, and flat systems including modified bitumen, PVC, EPDM and built-up roofing. Roofmaster also does roof repairs, written inspections with photographs, drone inspections, roof ventilation, eavestroughing, soffit and fascia, siding, skylights, masonry and chimney work, and winter snow and ice removal. Its website argues that most Ottawa leaks come from ventilation, drainage or flashing problems rather than the shingles themselves, which is why it pitches one contractor for the whole roofline. A typical replacement is described as one to three days, and the site gives a rough range of $5,000 to $10,000 for an average job, with the caveat that it varies.

Roofmaster is a CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster installer and reports a CertainTeed Governor's Award. It lists $5M liability insurance, WSIB coverage and a BBB accreditation badge, plus a Consumers Choice Award for Business Excellence. Financing is offered through Financeit. The site describes Nepean neighbourhoods such as Centrepointe, Bells Corners, Craig Henry and City View, and it serves Kanata, Gloucester, Barrhaven, Orleans and Stittsville, and communities roughly 90 minutes out.

What reviewers say matches the family-business pitch. The most recent Google reviews praise the crew leaders by name. Roger comes up more than anyone: one customer calls him courteous, responsive even after hours and thorough in his explanations, another says he and his crew paid close attention to detail, and a third describes him as knowledgeable, hard working and good company on site. A homeowner with a leaking flat roof and chimney says Roger suggested a far cheaper water diversion repair instead of a new roof, and that the fix was still holding years later. The same reviewer later asked Arzan about storm damage and says he supplied a few matching shingles at no charge. Another customer thanks Eric for a repair done quickly, with careful work and clear communication, and credits Arzan and Lisa for their help. A reviewer named Abdi credits Tony for technical leadership during an installation, and a customer calls foreman JF polite and hardworking in the summer heat. Owner replies appear under most reviews and are written in a warm, personal tone.

Flat roofs get specific praise. One owner of a triplex describes a detailed quote that listed every material, a three day job, and a call with photos when structural damage turned up under the old roof so the repair could be approved before work went ahead. She calls the finished flashing neat and tight. Several other reviews are short, saying only that the company was excellent from start to finish.

Google shows 4.7 from 330 Google reviews, read October 16, 2026. Google lists the office as open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and closed on weekends, so a Saturday leak means leaving a message and waiting until Monday unless you reach a crew some other way. The reviews quoted here are mostly positive, and none of the recent ones describes a problem with the work. The company does not remove or refit solar panels, so owners with panels need to arrange that separately.

Roofmaster suits homeowners who want a roofer that has been in Ottawa for decades and can handle shingles, metal, flat roofs and the roofline in one contract. It suits less well anyone who wants the cheapest quote on a small patch job, or who needs weekend service. Before booking, ask for a current WSIB clearance certificate, proof of liability insurance and a written contract that states the materials, scope, price and both warranties. Ontario has no provincial roofing licence, so those documents matter.
