Winter cold snaps freeze hose bibs and pipes along outside walls, chinooks thaw them again a few days later, and a burst line in an unheated garage or crawlspace is a common January call. We started from two Google Maps searches for plumbers and plumbing companies in Calgary and kept Google's order. Each company had to be operating, based inside the City of Calgary, rated 4.5 or higher with a meaningful review history, and running its own working website that matched its Google listing. We read each website for certificates, warranties, services, service areas and staff, and compared it with Google's address, phone and hours. We left out one company whose listed address is a shipping store mailbox, one that shares a suite with unrelated businesses and has duplicate listings and mirror websites, and one with no website. Ratings and review counts were read on September 24, 2026. No company paid to be included or to be ranked higher.

How to choose a plumber in Calgary

  • Verify insurance and credentials

    Ask for a current certificate of insurance and confirm registration or licensing with the authority that issues it, not with the company.

  • Ask for a written estimate

    Scope, materials, removal, disposal and who pulls the permit should all be named on the page rather than agreed on the doorstep.

  • Compare multiple quotes

    Two or three bids on the same scope. A number far below the others usually means something has been left out of it.

  • Understand the warranty

    Separate the manufacturer's warranty on materials from the company's own warranty on the work, and get both in writing.

  • Ask who performs the work

    Find out whether the crew are employees or subcontractors, and who supervises them on the day.

  • Check recent local projects

    Ask for addresses or photographs of comparable jobs finished nearby in the last year or two.

  • Avoid high-pressure sales

    A discount that expires today, or a knock on the door after a storm, is a reason to slow down rather than sign.

  • Get everything in writing

    Change orders, timeline and payment schedule included, before the first payment changes hands.
