    Ontime Electric

    4.9(282 Google reviews)
Best forolder Toronto homes needing panel upgrades, rewiring or urgent after-hours diagnosis
    In businessNot listed
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

The combination of a published ESA licence number, a 4.9 rating from 282 Google reviews as of September 30, 2026, and genuine 24 hour coverage puts this firm in the credible upper tier of Toronto electricians. The stated no-overtime pricing is a real differentiator in a trade where after-hours multipliers are normal, though it is a company claim and worth confirming on the phone. Expect the strongest value on older-home rewiring, panel work and EV charger installs.

    What we like

    • ECRA/ESA licence number 7009495 published openly on its website
    • 4.9 rating from 282 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read September 30, 2026
    • Listed hours are 24 hours a day, every day, with no overtime premium claimed
    • Covers both residential and small commercial work, including clinic, restaurant and retail fit-outs
    • Service area spans Toronto, York Region, Peel and Durham with no stated travel fee

    Things to consider

    • Guarantee, insurance and Master Electrician claims come from the company's own site and are not independently verified here
    • A very wide GTA service area means response times will realistically vary by distance and traffic
    • Not aimed at heavy industrial or utility-side electrical work
    • Pricing is described as upfront and free to estimate, but no rates are published

panel upgrades and EV charger installs in older Toronto and Mississauga homes

    2B Wired Toronto

    4.8(158 Google reviews)
Best forpanel upgrades and EV charger installs in older Toronto and Mississauga homes
    In business16 years
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

The range on offer maps neatly onto what actually goes wrong in Toronto's older housing stock, and the emphasis on permits and ESA inspection is the right emphasis for anyone who will later sell the house or make an insurance claim. The prepaid first hour will put some people off, though it is a defensible model for small repairs. Worth a call if your job involves a panel, a charger or old wiring.

    What we like

    • 4.8 from 158 Google reviews as of September 30, 2026
    • ECRA/ESA contractor licence 7010146 published openly on its website
    • Strong focus on panel upgrades, rewiring and EV chargers in pre-2000 housing
    • States that permits and ESA inspection are handled and documented as part of the job
    • Trading since 2010, per its own website, with stated coverage across Toronto, Mississauga and the GTA

    Things to consider

    • Service calls require pre-payment of the first hour before a van is dispatched
    • Hours are published as open 24 hours daily, so confirm after-hours call-out pricing directly
    • No commercial or industrial specialisms listed, so large fit-outs may be better placed elsewhere
    • The listed address is a downtown office suite rather than a walk-in location

knob and tube rewiring and panel upgrades in older Toronto homes

    KNT Electric

    4.9(90 Google reviews)
Best forknob and tube rewiring and panel upgrades in older Toronto homes
    In businessNot listed
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

Specialists tend to be a safer bet than generalists on rewires, and this is a firm that has chosen its lane clearly. The 4.9 rating from 90 Google reviews, read on September 30, 2026, is a good sign for work that is inherently messy and expensive. Just confirm the permit, ESA inspection and patching scope in writing before anyone opens a wall.

    What we like

    • Declared specialism in knob and tube wiring replacement, the most common old-house electrical problem in Toronto
    • 4.9 rating from 90 Google reviews as read on September 30, 2026
    • Handles panel and service upgrades, which usually accompany a rewire
    • Covers both residential and light commercial electrical work
    • East York base close to the east-end neighbourhoods with the oldest wiring
    • Saturday hours from 9 AM for homeowners who cannot take weekday time off

    Things to consider

    • No emergency or after-hours service is listed, with weekday hours ending at 6 PM
    • Closed Sundays
    • Pricing, licence details and warranty terms are not published, so confirm them in writing
    • Plaster and drywall patching after a rewire is often a separate scope, so clarify what is included

panel upgrades and after-hours electrical callouts in west-end Toronto and the GTA

    Toronto Wiring

    4.7(84 Google reviews)
Best forpanel upgrades and after-hours electrical callouts in west-end Toronto and the GTA
    In businessNot listed
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

The breadth here is the draw: few GTA electricians cover residential service upgrades, industrial controls and structured cabling under one roof, and the 24 hour listing is useful when something fails on a Sunday. The website's promotional claims, the ten percent beat-any-quote line in particular, deserve a direct question rather than quiet acceptance. With 4.7 from 84 reviews as of October 1, 2026, the track record supports a call.

    What we like

    • 4.7 from 84 Google reviews as read on October 1, 2026
    • Listed as open 24 hours daily, with emergency electrician service advertised
    • Covers residential, commercial and industrial work, plus data and security cabling
    • Etobicoke base gives quick access to west Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton via the 401 and 427
    • Describes itself as a Licensed Electrical Contractor, relevant for ESA filings

    Things to consider

    • Website claims, including the ten percent price-beat and free warranty, are the company's own and should be confirmed in writing
    • Published service area reaches far beyond the GTA, so confirm travel charges for distant locations
    • Multiple crews mean you may not get the same electrician on every visit
    • No published flat-rate pricing; the hourly figure on the site is presented as an average

Toronto homeowners who need electrical and appliance work handled by one team

    4.9(147 Google reviews)
Best forToronto homeowners who need electrical and appliance work handled by one team
    In businessNot listed
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

The dual trade is the genuinely interesting thing here, and it solves a real annoyance for anyone who has been bounced between an appliance tech and an electrician. A 4.9 average over 147 Google reviews, read on October 1, 2026, backs up the service record, and the licence number on display is the right instinct. We would push for clarity on diagnostic fees and parts warranties before the van arrives.

    What we like

    • 4.9 stars from 147 Google reviews as of October 1, 2026
    • Electrical contracting and appliance repair available from the same team
    • ECRA/ESA contractor licence number 7018002 displayed for verification
    • Broad scope covering panels, wiring, lighting, EV chargers and generators
    • Residential, commercial and industrial work, including a 400 amp service in the portfolio

    Things to consider

    • No published pricing, diagnostic fee or labour warranty in the available material
    • Nothing confirms a 24 hour emergency line or guaranteed same-day response
    • Booking starts with a service request rather than an instant online slot

panel upgrades and older-home rewiring across Toronto and the GTA

    Safe Electrical Solutions

    4.8(137 Google reviews)
Best forpanel upgrades and older-home rewiring across Toronto and the GTA
    In business23 years
    WarrantyNot listed
    EmergencyNot listed

    Why we picked them

The combination of a published ESA licence number, more than two decades of trading and 137 Google reviews averaging 4.8 as of October 2, 2026 makes this an easy shortlist candidate for older-home electrical work. The claim that overnight rates match daytime rates is the one thing we would confirm by phone, because it runs against how most of the trade prices emergencies. Strongest fit for panel upgrades, aluminum and knob-and-tube remediation, and EV charger installs.

    What we like

    • 4.8 rating from 137 reviews on its Google Business Profile, read October 2, 2026
    • ESA contractor licence number 7010337 published openly on its website
    • Trading since 2003, with deep coverage of Toronto's older housing stock
    • Published hours show 24/7 availability, with the company claiming no after-hours price premium
    • Broad range from single-circuit troubleshooting to 400A service upgrades and EV chargers

    Things to consider

    • The same-price-at-night claim comes from the company and should be confirmed before dispatch
    • Experience figures on the website vary between the 2003 start date and a 30-plus-year claim
    • No published pricing, so estimates need to be requested job by job
    • Large industrial and high-rise base-building work does not appear to be the focus

Hiring

How to choose an electrician in Toronto

  1. Check the licence

Electrical work needs a licensed contractor in every state and province. Look the licence up with the issuing authority, not on the company's website.

  2. Ask who pulls the permit

Panel upgrades, new circuits and rewires usually need a permit and an inspection. The electrician should handle both.

  3. Get a written quote

It should list the materials, the panel or breaker brand and whether patching walls afterwards is included.

  4. Compare two or three quotes

On the same scope. A much lower number often leaves out the permit or the drywall repair.

  5. Ask about the warranty

Separate the warranty on the work from the manufacturer's warranty on parts, and get both in writing.

  6. Confirm insurance

Ask for a current certificate of insurance and, in Canada, proof of workers compensation coverage.

Questions to ask before hiring

0 of 8 asked

Red flags

  • An offer to skip the permit to save money
  • No licence number, or one that does not check out
  • Cash only, with no written quote
  • A quote that does not say what panel or parts will be used
  • Pressure to replace a panel that has not been inspected
