10 Best Roofing Companies in Toronto, ON (Updated 2026)

TenBestFind ranks 10 roofing companies in Toronto, ON, listed in Google's order among the companies that passed our checks. Each company needed a rating of 4.5 or higher, at least 50 Google reviews, an operating business status, a real website and a staffed shop, yard or office inside the City of Toronto. Marcus Reed last reviewed the list on October 20, 2026.

The best roofing companies in Toronto for 2026 start with Alpine Roofing, a Carlaw Avenue firm that has roofed the city since 1974, followed by Roofing Monkeys and the family-run Luso Roofing & Contracting. Every company here holds at least 4.5 stars on Google with 90 or more reviews and has a working website and a real Toronto address. They are listed in Google's order and none paid for a spot.

The Ranking

Our top 10 roofing companies in Toronto

Toronto roofs face freeze and thaw cycles, ice dams, heavy snow and summer heat, and many homes are older brick houses with slate, cedar or flat sections that need specialist care. Ontario has no provincial roofing licence, so checking a contractor takes more effort than in many places. This list covers ten Toronto roofing companies that passed our review and address checks. Before you sign, ask for proof of WSIB clearance and liability insurance, get the scope and warranty in writing, and compare at least three quotes.

Methodology

How we chose the best roofing companies in Toronto

We started with the roofing contractors Google Maps returns for Toronto searches, including searches by area such as Scarborough, Etobicoke, North York and East York, and kept them in Google's order. Each company needed a rating of 4.5 or higher, at least 50 Google reviews, an operating business status, a real website and a staffed shop, yard or office inside the City of Toronto. We dropped condo units, residential addresses with no sign of a shop, shared offices, template or lead-generation sites with no address and companies whose main trade is not roofing. Ratings were read on October 16 and October 20, 2026. No company paid to be listed.

Hiring

How to choose a roofing company in Toronto

  1. Verify insurance and credentials

Ask for a current certificate of insurance and confirm registration or licensing with the authority that issues it, not with the company.

  2. Ask for a written estimate

Scope, materials, removal, disposal and who pulls the permit should all be named on the page rather than agreed on the doorstep.

  3. Compare multiple quotes

Two or three bids on the same scope. A number far below the others usually means something has been left out of it.

  4. Understand the warranty

Separate the manufacturer's warranty on materials from the company's own warranty on the work, and get both in writing.

  5. Ask who performs the work

Find out whether the crew are employees or subcontractors, and who supervises them on the day.

  6. Check recent local projects

Ask for addresses or photographs of comparable jobs finished nearby in the last year or two.

  7. Avoid high-pressure sales

A discount that expires today, or a knock on the door after a storm, is a reason to slow down rather than sign.

  8. Get everything in writing

Change orders, timeline and payment schedule included, before the first payment changes hands.

Questions to ask before hiring

0 of 10 asked

Red flags

  • No verifiable local business address or registration
  • Pressure to sign on the first visit
  • A demand for full payment up front
  • An offer to cover or waive your insurance deductible
  • Refusal to put warranty terms in writing
  • A quote that will not itemize scope

FAQ

Roofing companies in Toronto FAQs

Do Toronto roofers need a licence?

Ontario has no provincial roofing licence, so there is no single government lookup. Ask the roofer for a WSIB clearance certificate and proof of liability insurance, and confirm the clearance with the WSIB. Some companies also hold a municipal trade licence. Treat badges and licence numbers on a website as company claims until you have checked them.

How much does a new roof cost in Toronto?

A shingle roof replacement in Toronto commonly runs from several thousand dollars for a small roof to above $20,000 for a large or complex one, and slate, copper and metal cost more. Price depends on roof size, pitch, layers to remove, decking repairs and material. Get three written quotes that state how rotted wood is priced.

When is the best time of year to re-roof in Toronto?

Late spring through early fall is the busiest and most reliable window, because shingles seal best in mild, dry weather. Winter work is possible but slower, and some firms on this list say jobs book two to four weeks out. If you have an active leak, ask about temporary protection first and schedule the permanent work afterward.
