Editorial Review
Our Take on Right Choice Roofing and Repair
A small, owner-run Toronto roofer whose reviews keep returning to the same things: Frank shows up fast, explains the options and does not push. The 4.9 rating from 90 reviews is strong for a company this size. Expect one person's calendar rather than a big crew.

Company Background
About Right Choice Roofing and Repair
Right Choice Roofing and Repair works out of 2036 Dufferin Street in the York part of Toronto, and it has been in business since 2007. Frank Gillis owns and runs it. His website says he handles every job personally and does not hand work to subcontractors, and four of the five Google reviews we read mention Frank by name.
The services list is long. It covers roof repair, shingle and flat roof replacement, slate repair and replacement, drone and standard inspections, roof maintenance, chimney removal, wildlife damage repair, roof carpentry, metal fabrication, snow and ice-dam removal and insurance claim inspections. Houses and commercial buildings both appear on the list. The site names service in Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, East York, the Junction, Leslieville, the Annex and other Toronto neighbourhoods, plus Vaughan, Mississauga and Brampton.
Reviewers describe a low-pressure style. One homeowner had Frank out on a Saturday to trace a leak in a wall, was given two repair options and had the fix done in about 30 minutes. A garage owner with a 100 year old roof had the job finished in under two days. Another customer said Frank suggested getting a second quote before committing. A fourth hired the company entirely by phone and received photos as the work went on.
On its own site the company reports WSIB registration, a City of Toronto licence, insurance through Ai Insurance Inc. and BBB accreditation. These are reported by the company and not checked by TenBestFind. Ontario has no provincial roofing licence, so ask for the WSIB clearance certificate and proof of insurance before work starts. Written workmanship warranties run 2 years on repairs, 5 years on slate repairs, 10 years on full replacements and 15 years on slate replacements. Published prices start at $350 plus HST for repairs and $750 plus HST for slate repairs. An on-site assessment costs $150 plus HST, and the fee is credited if you approve the recommended work.
Right Choice Roofing and Repair has 4.9 from 90 Google reviews, read October 16, 2026. The shop is open seven days a week, 7 AM to 7 PM.
This company suits homeowners and small commercial owners who want to deal with the person doing the work, and anyone with slate, flat or older roofs. It suits less well people who want a large crew or a project manager, since a single owner-operator has limited capacity at busy times. The company does not mention financing. Before booking, ask for the written warranty in the proposal, the WSIB clearance certificate, proof of insurance and a start date.

Is Right Choice Roofing and Repair licensed and insured in Toronto?
The company says it is WSIB registered, licensed by the City of Toronto and insured through Ai Insurance Inc., and it also reports BBB accreditation. These are claims from its own website and have not been checked by TenBestFind. Ontario has no provincial roofing licence, so Ontarians can check a contractor's WSIB clearance on the WSIB website and should ask for proof of insurance before any work starts.
